You inch your leg backwards, just a bit, angle your body just in the right way and you dodge his attack. His blade falls limply where you once stood and a look of irritation finally creeps into his blank face.
"Tch, you're pretty quick for a little mouse." He says pulling his tanto back behind him, his posture upright and proper. You take a quick breath and lowered yourself, preparing to knock him out. Adrenaline surges through your veins.
"You're better. But I'm faster." Before you even finish your sentence, you're already dashing towards him, the double you left behind is only an afterimage.
He brings up his sword defensively in front of his body.
Confidence fills every inch and pore of your body as you repeat the mantra. If you know the limits of what you can do, you won't hesitate to do the things you are capable of doing. If you know the limits of what you can do, you won't hesitate to do the things you are capable of doing.
Faster. You have to go faster.
"Kawarimi!" Your fingers weave through the hand seals in perfect succession and your body jerks, whistling through time and space and you switch with a boulder behind him.
"Wha-?!" He says, now a hint of confusion in his voice, turning his body to face yo-
The force of your kick sends him flying. Past the fields. Past the lake. Past the tree line of the forest. His body lurches in the air, only touching dirt to skid and skip beyond your line of sight.
Yes! Yes you did it!Your victory is cut short.
"Sure, you're faster." A voice says from behind you, "Like I said, I'm better."
Your blood turns cold, cold like ice, cold like the night of the goodbye. And he shoves you onto the ground, face first in the piles of dirt left behind by his double, a log. Shit when did he switch?
You let out a grunt of pain. The power behind his attack nearly knocks you unconscious. Your hands clench into fists. You had underestimated him. The weight of his body keeps you flattened, you can't get up, he's stronger than you.
"Get off me! Get. Off. Me." You say but it just comes out muffled by the dirt by your face. You struggle to no avail. The palm against the back of your head is firm, keeping the side of your head touching the ground.
"It was a good fight." He says, a smile on his face. He reaches for the ninjato in your hand and attempts to wrestles it out of your grip with force, "I'll take this as a trophy. It's much better than mine."
"No!" You scream and writhe under his weight, "No! NO! Give that back. Give it back. Give it back! Giveitbackgiveitbackgiveitbackgiveitback!" Tears well in your eyes, sweat drips down your face and your nose starts leaking, "Don't take it! Don't! It's mine. IT'S. MINE." A shriek escapes from your lips when he successfully snatches it from you.
Shisui, I'm sorr-
There is no more time for you to finish your thought when he hits a spot behind your neck and you see stars.

The dark haired boy kneels on one knee, his right fist over his chest as he raises the sword parallel to his shoulders. "Danzo-sama, I have returned." He says, eyes on the uneven cement bridge. His back aches and his legs hurt. He doesn't like the windowless room that he shares with his brother. He doesn't like the musty air of the underground, the only air circulation they got was with the flowing water. It wasn't enough.
