You bring a simple bento with ample amounts to the Inuzuka district as a gift so that you don't appear rude in their eyes, the sheer amount of food packed into a five-tiered lacquered wood box is enough to feed an entire clan. The sight of a little girl carrying a package nearly the same size as her might have been funny to the other civilians but you take your upbringing quite seriously, good manners and common courtesy is paramount to the clans of Konoha.
If word comes around to Father that you've been lacking in simple social niceties, you don't have any doubts that it'll lower his social standing among the participants of the Game. You're not sure what he'd do as punishment, but his disappointment is more than enough to spur you to over prepare for a simple visitation.
Your worries didn't really matter though, Tsume ushers you in with gratitude in her eyes as her line of sight just follows the gigantic package in your hands and you're sure that four other people are peeking at you from the top of the stairs.
"Thank you for having me, Inuzuka-san," Your shaky voice betrays the nervousness that you couldn't contain. Stretching both your hands with the bento towards her, you bend your waist in a deep bow, "It's nothing special but please accept this as an Omiyage."
"A-ah, you didn't have to," Tsume pauses in her steps, surprise evident in her words to you, "Call me Tsume instead. We're all Inuzuka here so that might get a little confusing." She takes the (heavy) bento off your hands, giving you a kind smile as you lift your head. You return the gesture, eyes scanning the insides of the house.
It's quite homely, the floors lined with tatami mats and their living room is quite spacious. Considering the fraying and dents at the edges of the sofas and some of the floor mats, you know for a fact that there are probably a number of dogs and kids alike living in the main building. A gentle nuzzle and brush of fur at the sides of your thigh brings you back. There's a gigantic wolf-dog rubbing itself against your sides and you freeze, not knowing what to do.
Was the dog wearing an eyepatch?
"Kuromaru, heel! Don't go scaring our guest." Tsume barks from the kitchen. The wolf-dog barks back, then whimpers softly as he approaches you. Slowly this time. You squat down, tucking the ends of your haori under your thighs as you lift an arm, wrist upwards towards Kuromaru, the wolf-dog. He gives you a wary sniff, curcling around you once before pressing his entire weight on you.
You giggle and give him more rubs, threading your fingers over his blueish fur as he attempts to slobber all over your hands.
"Woah, Yamanaka-san! You really didn't have to make this much food for a simple visit." You can hear the rustle of furoshiki as Tsume uncovers the bento. The smell of meat wafts over to the living room and up the stairs, curious eyes are looking at you from the top of the stairs again. You give them a shy wave and they disappear back into the hallways.
"'Least I could do if your son is willing to teach me some Inuzuka fighting techniques." You say, hiding your hands behind your back, a coy smile at the corners of your lips as you stand back up. You're still idling around the entrance of the residence, unsure where to stand.
