He endures, because he's a good shinobi.
Danzo peers at the boy's figure with a discerning eye and shifts his weight on his other leg, clutching on his cane with his good hand (his only hand). "Where is the she? I don't see her around." He says, dryly.
The boy is silent, for he knows there is incoming punishment. The mission, he thinks. He's doing it for the mission. "You said 'bring her to me'. You didn't specify if it had to be a body. So I brought something of hers." He says. He doesn't dare lift his face. It completely slipped his mind, all he knew was that he had to flee before the other ANBU come to your rescue.
The air is quiet. Only the sound of water rushing downwards echoes through the cavern.
"You fool boy." Danzo taps his cane and it echoes in the dark haired boy's eardrums, "She declined didn't she? Fool boy. Orders are absolute; I said to bring her here. No matter what." He taps on the ground beside his knee again and the boy's head throbs with the sharp sounds of wood against concrete.
"I-I defeated her in combat. She's weak." The boy says softly, eyes down and fist still to his chest, "She doesn't deserve to be here." He hides his trembling well, because Danzo doesn't not seem to notice. Or care.
Danzo focuses his gaze at the boy. "Did she use her sword?" Danzo says, voice sharp and thin.
The boy looks up at him- puzzled, but quickly averts his eyes back to the floor. "The sword? This ninjato?"
Danzo clicks his tongue and narrows his eye, "No, fool boy, her other sword; the one with the white cord-string on the hilt."
"No," The boy says.
Danzo heaves a heavy sigh, "Dismissed."
The boy flickers away, taking the short blade with him, leaving Danzo to think carefully about his next step.____
Yamanaka Inoichi sits in his study, the vast array of bookshelves lined up ahead of him. The political game within Konoha never ceases, sure all the heads might be true friends- and they are, they still have to vie for power among the other clans. The Yamanaka, Nara and Akimichi clans have a solid alliance with the Sarutobi Clan. The other clans are attempting climb up the branches of the Game into having a spot on the Council.
The Hatake Clan are dying out, leaving only a couple of civvies in the produce sector with Kakashi as the heir. The rest of the shinobi under their sponsorship have all been poached by other clans, since that incident with Sakumo. Kakashi seems to be uninterested in Clan politics. Not a threat.
Uchiha have only one recorded survivor that is still loyal to the village- Sasuke. Too young. He has no more hold or sway in the current circle, all of his clan elders are dead. There's nobody to advise him with how to proceed. Not a threat.
The Inuzuka clan is a little bit fuzzy for Inoichi. It's a matrilineal clan? As in inheritance is passed down from the mother's side of the family. Tsume is current leader and Hana, her daughter is heir apparent. Their clan still follow the ways of the old days; clan leader is always the strongest member of their pack. Sure men can challenge the alpha for the title, but the female members always seem to be more assertive than the men. They're completely loyal to Konoha and uninterested in politics. The only reason why Tsume has a place on the council was because their clan still has a significant amount of influence in the Village. Not a threat.
The entire Aburame clan is a mystery to him, he couldn't get a good read on Aburame Shinbi to correctly gauge their intentions. Neutral for now.
