I quickly opened the door, thanking god for making me forget to lock the door this morning before pushing Vicky inside, quickly closing and locking the door. I then kneeled down onto the ground. "Holy chickenfries, that was a workout."
Flashback
??? POV
I sighed, feeling my heart race as I looked up at the boy. "You know you're pathetic, right?" I looked down, feeling my heart sink at those words. "You're hurting your friend, why is that?" I didn't have to look up to know what his face looked like. He was smiling. He was enjoying this. He's sick.
"Because otherwise you'd-" I began, only to be cut of by him."Na-ah, don't blame me for your actions." I know what he's trying to do. He's trying to make me feel pathetic and guilty for doing that to her. He won't succeed though, this was his plan all along and I plan on telling her that. "Now tell me, why is it that you hurt her like that?" I looked up at him, narrowing my eyes. "Because you made me do it, your goal is to avenge what you think she did to you. You're the pathetic one, not me. She'll know that I did it for her." He smirked slightly, shrugging. "Are you sure about that? I personally think you went overboard with the whole Max-thing." I gritted my teeth, shaking my head. "I-I was just trying to make it convincing-" My eyes widen as I heard his whispering voice in my ear.
"Your excuses are crumbling, you can't blame me anymore." I looked up at him, opening and closing my mouth as he pushed his glasses up with his index finger, smirking. "You realize what you've done, right?" I furrowed my eyebrows slightly, about to say something before he cut me off. "Don't you think she's been behaving a bit more... Anxious since you did what you did? Did you notice that she's been talking to herself-" "Shut up." I walked past him, bumping his shoulder as I did.
"I personally think that you should stick to the story of you never being friends, it would be better for her. Or has having Max by your side changed the way you feel about her? Do you really think of her as a friend anymore?" He laughed after that sentence. He doesn't understand me, I'm not a monster, I love her, we've always been friends and I've always been looking out for her. Sure, I went overboard when I started to date Max, but it shouldn't be too much of a deal to her, right?
I flinched slightly when I noticed where I was. Outside of her home. I'd been thinking of the last encounter I had with Luke last tuesday while accidentally walking towards her house. I swallowed when I noticed how dark the house was, and there wasn't any car in the driveway. "They must be at her grandma's or something..." I'll check in on her later, I should tell her everything. I began to slowly walk away when a sign caught my attention.
FOR SALE
I choked on my breath slightly, looking back at the giant house. I could hear her voice in my mind.
"I don't think I'll ever want to move, I'm so happy here. Besides, you're here, why sould I want to leave you behind?"
"Y-You don't mind leaving me behind now huh?" I shook my head slightly, feeling panic creep into my head. "You're joking, I know you are. You know I did it for you. You know I never meant to hurt you." I now remembered what Luke said.
"Don't you think she's been behaving a bit more... Anxious since you did what you did? Did you notice that she's been talking to herself-"
I began to walk towards the house, my heart was racing like crazy and my mind was spinning. "Hey, (Y/n)! You're in there right!?" I banged my fist against the wooden door.
No answer
"I know you're in there, it's Vicky. Just listen to me, alright?"
No answer.
"Everything I did was to protect you, right? And I'm sorry for the whole thing with Max, I kind of went overboard with turning him against you..."
No answer..
"B-But that's alright, right? I know you liked him and all, but I did too! H-He's just a guy after all..."
No answer...
"Hey! the least you can do is to answer me, I said I was sorry, I did it for you!"
No answer....
"(Y/n), don't be like that! I... It was all Luke's doing!"
No answer.....
"H-Hey! You know I did it for you, right? He would've made it worse you know. I love you, you're the first person I've been able to be myself around and that's why I'm proud to call you my best friend. Now, I know I was behaving like absolute shit when I did that, but I was desperate, as I said, he would've made it much worse and I had no time to think of a more mild way to do it."

"Alright, if that's how it's going to be then..." I turned around slightly, starting to slowly walk away. As I did her smiling face crept into my mind, I smiled. Her smile then faded, changing into a broken expression, I changed my expression as well, making it match the (h/c) girl's.
"N-No!" I stopped dead in my tracks, turning towards the house again. "Y-You can't be serious (Y/n)!" I hurried towards the house, walking towards the flowerpot that stood by the left side of the door. "No spare key?" I then swallowed slightly, walking over to a small gnome that was placed on the grass, lifting it up to see the key I was looking for.
For bestie-emergencies only
"Good." I grabbed it, quickly walking towards her house. My heart was practically jumping out of my chest as I quickly unlocked the front door. They couldn't have moved, there was no way. She wouldn't have forgotten about that spare key if that was the case.
I opened the door, feeling my heart stop slightly as I was met by total silence. "(Y-... (Y/n)?" The floor creaked as I slowly walked inside, adding an even more eerie effect to the scene. "H-Hey, you heard me, didn't yo-" I stopped dead in my tracks as I turned left in the hallway, opening the door to her room.
There were no furniture in there. They'd moved. She'd moved. She didn't even tell me.
I walked into the room, immediately noticing a crumpled paper ball in the very end of the room. It was laying by the wall, by a window, so the small amount of sunlight that shone into the room was focusing solely on that ball. It all seemed planned, as if I was meant to notice the paper ball.
I sighed before walking over to it, picking it up. I then un-crumpled it to the best of my ability, only to find that it was a letter.
It was a letter from her to me.
