So it's been a while since I've been here. If you want to know the full detail go over to my oneshot book and look at the chapter called "Growing Up With The Blades Pt.2?" If you don't want to just know that I'm not gone but I'm taking chapter slower. To thank you all I've published a new book that you can find on my account. Thank you so much for all your patience.

Lance's P.O.V

I walked into Keith's room, only to see that he was sitting up, humming to himself.

"Hey mullet, how's it going?" I asked, sitting on the bed beside him.

"Helloooo. I'm fantabudocistic." Keith slurred.

"Keith I don't think that's a word."

"It's probably a word somewhere in the universe." Keith pointed out, fiddling with the edge of his shirt. I quickly realised that Keith wasn't exactly in his right mind.

"Do you want anything?" I asked, giving him a small smile.

"Nope, just company" He said, taking my hand and inspecting it. "You have really nice nails."

"I do?" I questioned, feeling my cheeks go a light shade of red.

"Yeah you do."

"Well thank you" I said, watching as Keith poked and prodded at my hand. He then picked up my hand and rubbed his face against it.

"Your hand is so softtt" He said, smiling innocently.

"Uh.. thanks?" I said, trying my hardest at resisting the urge to stroke his face. I heard Keith let out happy hums as he continued to rub my hand across his face. I let out a chuckle. "Are you enjoying yourself there?"

"Yeah..." He mumbled, closing his eyes.

"Wow, I didn't think you were one for touch, Keith."

"I love hugs and stuff. I just don't know how to ask for them." Keith admitted, obviously not really thinking through what he was saying. If he remembered, he'd hate himself for telling me this later.

"Really? You like hugs?"

"Yeah... I do. I don't like to admit it though."

"You just admitted it." Keith stayed silent before replying.

"Yeah I guess I did" He mumbled. Before Keith could decline, I pulled him into a safe, secure hug. He seemed a little shocked at first before he hugged back, clinging onto me as tight as he could which in fairness, wasn't actually that tight. I rubbed his back soothingly and he seemed to melt further into the hug.

"Wow.. you give nice hugs.." He mumbled, his head resting on my shoulder.

"Thanks, mullet. I have a lot of experience seeing I have a big family and stuff" I replied, my voice cracking slightly at the thought of my family. There was a small silence.

"You miss your family, don't you?" Keith asked.

"W-Well I uh- I- yeah I do." I stuttered, a little caught off guard by the question. "I miss them a lot."

"I bet they know you're safe."

"What do you mean? How could they possibly know?"

"Well if they know you like I know you, they know that you're a strong, determined pilot. They know that you'll never give up and that you'll fight until the very end. They know that you can get through anything and that you're keeping yourself alive. They'll trust that you've gotten yourself to a safe place and that you're going to return to them some day." Keith explained, hugging a little tighter.

"You... really think they think that?" I asked, feeling a little touched by Keith's small speech.

"Well yeah. They know you're strong and that you can manage anything."

"And you really think that about me?"

"Yeah." Keith said, without a spot of hesitation. "Yeah I do."

"Wow. Thanks, Keith." I said, feeling a smile tug on the side of my lips. "That's gotta be the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me."

"Well that means they probably think it, but don't say it. You're such a cool person, Lance. I wish I was as cool as you."

"You think I'm.. cool?" I questioned. "What's so cool about me?"

"You're so kind and caring and you're so good at cheering people up. You're comfortable talking to people and even when you're feeling down you focus on others first. Plus you're just a really nice guy to be around." Keith rambled, smiling a little. I felt my face heat up yet again.

"I-I didn't know you thought of me like that." I stuttered. "Thanks I guess."

"My pleasure." Keith mumbled. He buried his face further into the crook of my neck and let out a happy sigh. "How are you so good at talking to people?"

"What do you mean?"

"Like, you connect with others easily. When I talk to people they just look uncomfortable and as if they would rather be talking to a tree. When you talk to people they look happy to see you and smile and actually talk back. Is there something I'm doing wrong?" Keith asked.

"It's not so much as to what you're doing wrong." I said. "I guess it's.. the vibe you give off?"

"Vibe? I give off a vibe?"

"Yeah. You give off a... 'I-don't-want-to-talk-to-anyone' vibe I guess." Keith suddenly pushed off of me, not looking too impressed.

"What makes me give off that vibe?" He asked, looking a bit insulted.

"Well I mean... you cross your arms all of the time and have a frown on your face. You also seem to be glaring at everyone." I said, smiling awkwardly.

"But... that's just the way I look.." Keith said, looking a little hurt. Quiznak, I screwed up.

"Well maybe your could look a little less.."

"Keith like?"

"Yes! Wait, no! I mean no!"

"So you're saying it's just me in general?!" Keith asked, his voice raising in offence.

"No! That's not what I'm saying! I meant that you could be a little more open?"

"What so I'm supposed to just spill my guts to the first person I see?" Keith asked, sounding a little sarcastic.

"Well no but just being less stand off-ish and actually joining in the conversation." Lance said, crossing his arms.

"Well whenever I join people just seem to not what me around."

"Then I don't know just don't join in the conversation because sometimes people just shouldn't be involved!" I blurted out, instantly regretting it. Keith shrunk back a little, hurt evident in his eyes.

"Right. You're... You're right." Keith mumbled, looking down at his hands. "I'll just- I think I'm gonna get some sleep."

"Keith I didn't mean-"

"No it's- I'm kinda tired so I'm gonna get some rest. I just- I shouldn't have asked." Keith said, lying down in his bed and facing the wall. "Goodnight, Lance."

"Wait, Keith just let me-"

" I said goodnight, Lance." Keith said, his words cold but at the same time a little wobbly. I sighed, knowing Keith wouldn't want to talk to me anymore. I left the room, guilt weighing me down. God, I'd screwed up.

I just hope I can fix it later.
