"Uhh... Dare."

Josh grinned evilly. Tyler groaned. "Can I change my answer?"

"Nope," you snapped.

"I dare you to jump in the stream," Josh said, a wicked smile on his face. A look of horror played on Tyler's features, and he frantically glanced at you.

"Do—do I have to?"

You nodded seriously.

He turned to look at the stream, miserable. "Okay."

He rose from the chair and walked to the edge of the water. Then he delicately tugged off his shirt, and you tried not to stare at the way he muscles rippled as he raised his arms. You tried not to, but you stared anyway.

He waded into the water, and once he was waist deep, he collapsed under with a splash. You all got up and ran over, giggling as he re-emerged, completely drenched. He glared at Josh.

"Get over here, you little walnut," he growled. Josh laughed and ran to hide around a tree, but Tyler chased him down and smothered him in a bear hug, getting Josh all wet too.

Once they were done fighting, you sat back down at the fire, and Tyler pulled his shirt back on. "Josh?"

"Yes, Tyler?" Josh asked.

"Truth or dare."

Justice stood and shook her head. "Nope! That's against the rules. You can't pick the person who just asked you."

Tyler gaped at her. "What? Come on, he deserves it!"

Josh laughed, and Tyler grabbed a marshmallow and chucked it at him. "Heck you!"

You shook your head as Justice sighed.

"Alright, alright," Tyler giggled. "I'm thinking." He paused. Then he looked at you. You grinned.

"[y/n], truth or dare?"

"Truth."

Josh's mouth formed an "oo" shape.

Tyler paused, thinking once more. Then his eyes brightened as an idea emerged. "What is the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?"

You groaned. Justice snickered. She knew exactly what it was.

"Seventh grade," you began with a sigh. You were tired of telling this story.

"I really liked this boy Ethan, right? He was cute a nerdy. Played the alto sax."

Tyler and Josh exchanged a glance at liked this boy. Justice kept giggling, like an idiot.

"Anyway, Justice convinced me to write..." You trailed off, embarrassed at your actions.

"Go on," Justice urged. You shot her a glare.

"I wrote a love letter to him," you said, clearing your throat.

Justice exploded in laughter. You all looked at her like she was crazy.

"That's not really that embarrassing," Tyler shrugged. "If that's your most embarrassing moment—"

"It's—not—over," Justice choked out in between heaves of laughter. You rolled your eyes. You'd told this story probably ten times, and she did this every time. You'd think she'd get bored of it.

"Anyway," you continued, glancing at your friend, "I did. I wrote him a letter. It went something like,

'My heart is red
Your eyes are blue
I love to hear you play the alto sax
And I love you, too.'"

You shuddered at the thought. "I must've thought it was cute, but he didn't even look at me for two years. Worst mistake I've ever made."

Tyler giggled. "That's one way to shoot your shot."

You sighed. "It was seventh grade. I didn't have any dms to slide into."

You all laughed some more, and then you continued to play truth or dare.

It was probably the most fun, the most alive, you'd felt in a really long time. It made you begin to wonder how much of life you were missing out on by rotting away in an office. It made you a little sad, and also a little scared. You didn't want to waste your time, but you were afraid that you might be.

After a while, once the moon was high in the dark sky and the fire had been reduced to light orange embers, you decided to go to bed. You extinguished what was left of your campfire and climbed into your tent with Justice. The two of you whispered for a little while about how much you missed high school.

It was odd. In high school, you couldn't wait until you were finished. You couldn't wait until you could leave. But now, looking back... You wanted nothing more than to go back and relive those days. You felt very nostalgic about it all.

But this was nice. The camping with your best friends. In fact, as you drifted off to sleep, you realized that there wasn't a single place that you wanted to be more than where you already were.

And that was a really nice feeling.
