"Nothing much, really." Ataru mumbles nonchalantly, flipping to the next page. The sound echoes throughout the room, like nothing happened. Yep, nothing.

Yawaraka flops onto his futon in a clumsy manner. Now you're actually very surprised Mayu isn't waking up with all the noise going on. It takes him a while to realize that there's something illuminating Ataru's side of the room, "What's tha-"

"Nicked it off one of the gatekeepers when he wasn't looking. I'm going to die if I don't have any form of entertainment." Ataru says without any variating inflections in his voice and without skipping a beat.

"At least let me finish my sentence," Yawaraka huffs, turning around to face the other way as he buries himself under the sheets, "Goodnight." He huffs once again as he wishes the two of you.

"Okay Yawa, tell me about your day. You baby." Ataru says, drawling his words in a patronizing way as he snaps his book shut and turns off the lights.

"Well, I didn't get yelled at this ti-" Yawaraka pauses, "I'm not falling for that. Good. Night."

The tenseness in your shoulder and the shame in your gut has faded away, you can feel yourself relax into the sheets. The tiredness is catching up to your eyelids and they flutter themselves shut. "Goodnight," You say, a muffled murmur into your pillow and you fall asleep.

A week passes, there's not much variation in your daily routine between laying low, picking up bits and pieces of information that you can. It's sort of nice, not needing to plot and scheme against everyone else. It feels freeing. The sort of feeling that you get from a four hour session of intense taijutsu training where your mind goes blissfully blank as you beat up the training log time and time again. Like you don't need to think about anything else and just relaxed for a bit.

You're painfully reminded every day that it is a mission after all. You're a good shinobi, so you're loyal to your village. Your guard doesn't drop much. The mission comes first.

Then with Hound; your teammates lives are important. You being alive is important. You intend on staying alive.

Ataru doesn't bring up anything regarding the conversation that the both of you had a week ago and he seems friendlier? If that was even possible. Underneath his sarcastic demeanor, he's definitely a softy.

Yawaraka's finally getting used to the contacts and he doesn't rub at his eyes anymore. He seems to be getting used to the errand-running the court nobles seem to like asking him to do. He seems like he'd fit right in with them, long silky hair and alabaster skin that would fit right in a shampoo commercial. The way he holds himself too, upright posture with his chin held high and his shoulders set back.

Until he opens his mouth.

Maybe that's why the inner court seems to love him so much. Servants don't talk back. They're not supposed to talk back.
