Chapter 29: Something Is Wrong With Me

Start from the beginning

Dominic smirked. Nolan didn't say anything.

"So are we all clear on the terms?" Alyssa asked, sending him a sweet smile. His expression remained for a moment before it broke into a defeated sigh.

"All clear. You stay, I get everyone out."

Dominic clapped his hands and stood up. "Awesome, now if you excuse I have to bother that pretty little doctor girlfriend of yours."

Nolan raised his eyebrow. Alyssa chuckled as Dominic stretched out his hands. She took it and together they walked back to the hospital.

"You're bad," Alyssa teased, hitting him softly with her shoulder.

Dominic looked shocked. "Me? You're the only who threaten him, you little badass." Dominic kissed her forehead as they appeared back in the same hallway as before. Alyssa was thinking they should just move in here. They were here all the time.

"I'm going to see if my x-rays are in," Dominic told her, letting go of her hand.

She nodded and watched him go. He limped slightly, but forced more weight on his broken rib. She shook her head.

She was about to sit down but Bonnie appeared down the hall. She smiled at Alyssa.

"I was just going to look for you, Doctor Cohen wants to see you."

Alyssa knew something was wrong with her. Ever since the surgery, Ruth insisted on taking extra care with her. Why? She wasn't the one with the most physical injuries. She should be the one they care less about it.

Waiting for the doctor, Alyssa started thinking the worst. She thought of the way she had been feeling since the treehouse. When she passed out. Something was wrong.

What if I have some disease? What if it something bad like cancer? She couldn't handle that. Alyssa passed her hand through her hair.

What was taking Doctor Cohen so long? She felt like throwing up.

The door opened and Alyssa jumped up. Ruth Cohen didn't wear an expression. That was good right. She was frowning.

"Is… is everything ok?" Alyssa asked slowly. She played with her hands. Ruth motioned the chair but Alyssa didn't move.

"I've been keeping something from you, Alyssa," she started. Her voice was firm and professional. It was freaking Alyssa out. She didn't say anything and Ruth continued.

"You were in a more serious situation than we led you to believe," Ruth placed a pencil in her ear. "I pulled off telling you because I didn't know if the surgery had worked. I wouldn't know what to tell you if it hadn't."
