Chapter 4

Alyssa Olsen

I can't believe them. They were going to leave... again... and in the middle of night?!?

"What do you think you guys are doing?" Jeremy asked. He was mad, you can tell but he was holding it.

Lucky for me and him, it was our turn to do the nightshift.

"You know, out for a walk," Ella shrugged, as if she wasn't turning to run away.

"You guys were just going to leave? Just like that?" I said, angrily.

"Pretty much," Dominic said, without a care in the world.

I hated when he did that. I hated when he acted as if we were nothing....

As if I was nothing to him.

"Why?" Jeremy asked, as he crossed his arms around his chest. The sun wasn't out, and everyone else was sleeping. It was just us four all in the dark.

"We have nothing to do here, Jeremy," Ella said harshly.

"This is because of what happened early, isn't it?" He asked, stepping closer.

Ella didn't respond right away. "We've all changed. We're not the same people anymore."

"You're right, we've all changed," Jeremy agreed. "But that doesn't mean you have to leave-"

"We have nothing here, Jeremy. You clearly are doing fine without us," Ella said, almost coldly. He was stepping closer and you can tell Ella had her guard up.

"You don't know everything, Ella," he whispered. Now he was only inches away from her face. "Does worrying about you every second of the day count as fine? Wondering every time I wake up if you did? If you guys were eating right or hell even alive?" He looked at her and she didn't turn away. "Does. That. Count. As. Fine?"

And you know what Ella did?

She laughed.

She actually laughed.

I think she was spending too much with Dominic, who, by the way, hasn't said anything at all.

"Why would you worry, Jeremy?" Ella said harshly. "You didn't care about me when I was around-"

"That's not true-"

"It is!" Ella yelled. "You chose HER over ME! I was your girlfriend and she shows up and you're willing to go on a suicide mission with her after knowing her for AN HOUR!"

He didn't say anything. He didn't have too. He knew she was right.

"It was to save Shane and Ashley, Ella," I said in a low voice. She snapped her head to me.

"You couldn't help them if you were dead," She snapped, rolling her eyes.

"Well we're not dead, because we changed plans," Jeremy said.

Ella laughed again. "Oh yeah, making an army to attack Dr. Storm, why didn't we think of that before? OH WAIT I DID!"

This was going to turn bad.

"Ok so I made a bad decision, I know that now-"

"Yeah, a little too late," She spat, pushing past him. But Jeremy grabbed her arm.

"I'm not letting you leave again," Jeremy growled. They stared each other down for a second.

"Jeremy, let go of her," Dominic finally said, stepping closer.

"Or what? You'll attack me? Since when are you her bodyguard?"

"Since when do you grab her like that?" Dominic challenged. Jeremy let her go but never moved his eyes from Dominic's.

"Dominic stop, he's not even worth it," Ella said, giving Jeremy a disgusted look.

I couldn't even believe that I was seeing. It was being surrounded by strangers!

"Dom, let's leave," Ella said, giving us one last look before turning away.

Dom?

Dom?

What the hell?

"So you're just gonna follow her like nothing?" I said. Now I was getting mad. Why was Dominic acting like... like a freakin lost puppy?

"I'm following her because I agree with her," He said, turning to me. "We have nothing here."

"Am I nothing to you?" I grunted the words through my teeth. They actually caused me physical pain.

"I think you should be asking yourself that question about me," he said harshly. "I wasn't the one that said no-"

"Neither did I!" I yelled as tears threaten to fall. Damn it. I thought I couldn't cry anymore. I did plenty of that when he dumped me and when they left.

Guess I was wrong.

"A 'maybe' Alyssa, that's what you said," he said, stepping closer to me. God he was giving that look.. that look of hate. Plus he called me Alyssa. I hated when he did that. "So what? You 'maybe' love me? you 'maybe' want to be with me? you 'maybe' want me in your life?"

The tears were already falling, but I didn't care. Dominic looked me right in eyes, looked at me with such emotion in his green eyes. I couldn't even breathe properly.

"Well 'maybe' I don't want you in mine."

That was enough for me to collapse on my knees and cry. The wall I tried so hard to built over the past few months came down like nothing around him. I could act and change the way I dress, but I was still weak around Dominic. I looked up at him, watching him as his body tensed alittle.

Did he still care?

Then in a second it was gone. His blank expression was back.

"Let's leave Ella."

I watch him walk past me. This wasn't happening. Not again.

Why wasn't Jeremy doing anything?

"Wait!" I heard Jeremy yelled, turning around.

They stopped.

"Nothing you say will change our minds, Jeremy," Ella said, turning around.

"What if I told you I just found out where Shane and Ashley are?" He said, raising his eyebrow.

All three of us looked at him.

"What?" I said, standing up and wiping my tears away.

"How?" Ella asked, dropping her bag in confusion.

"Because-," Jeremy was cut off by a sound. No.. a moan.

We all turned to the sound of the moan.

There stood a zombie, a girl. She had long red hair and big brown eyes. She wasn't missing any skin on her face but there were holes in her arms and legs. Her skin was slightly paler than humans and she had yellowish teeth.

She moaned again, moving closer to us.

That was when Jeremy smiled and said, "Welcome back Shayna."
