Y/n's Pov
The Kingdom was huge to say the least, having no doubt enough room for all dragons and more. Everything was different from the world above. Plants glowed, water was everywhere, and there was no sky. It was a whole day before we had finally seen everything, however briefly. D/n and I were able to claim an empty cavern hidden by the plants all around, like many other caverns close by. We were exhausted when we arrived the day before and hadn't bothered to unpack before settling down and falling asleep.
There was plenty to do, being the Alpha and all. The Dragon Kingdom seemed to have been running smoothly enough without an Alpha around, but it seemed all the problems came out when there was one. It wasn't too hard to solve most situations as the dragons couldn't disobey their Alpha, but there were still babies. D/n and I spent most of the first few days solving smaller problems and writing down the larger ones that would take more time. It was easy to see it would take close to a year to get the place running smoothly.
New dragons came in almost daily, bringing more things to do along with them. It was amazing to see so many dragons in one place. I was surprised one day when Drago's Bewilderbeast entered the kingdom, but since Drago was gone he wasn't as hostile as he was before. Multiple dragons were assigned by D/n and I for specific tasks that needed a single or team of dragons focused on that task.
Months flew by, reminding me that Berk might be worried about me. It had been almost a year since Drago's attack and not too much less since I left. After so much time without any humans around, I started to get a bit homesick for my brother and Valka. A few days later, I decided to talk to D/n about it.
"I think I need to go back to Berk for a little while. Catch up on things going out there." I told D/n one evening as we munched on our dinner. "Is that the only reason?" She asked and I sighed in response. "No..." I replied. D/n looked over at me, as if to tell me to continue. "I've had human contact all my life, even if it was just Valka, and I'm growing to miss it somewhat. I know I have duties to my dragon half, but I think I need to put some attention to the other half. My human half." I explained and D/n nodded her head understandingly. "I guess we could go for a visit, it would be nice to see Shadow again as well, and see how Toothless is doing. Shall we tell the elders?" D/n said, looking out into the expanse of the Dragon Kingdom.
We decided to sleep before getting ready to go the next day. The Elders were told of our plans and we made arrangements for while we were gone. It wasn't long before we were up in the air on our way back to Berk. For the next two days we traveled until we finally made it to Berk. To say it had changed would be an understatement.
Old Berk was gone, with a newer, bigger Berk replacing it. Instead of just huts for all the Vikings, the Village was full of huts for dragons. I cringed as I watched a gronkle accidently smash its tail into a support beam as it was trying to get by the crowd of dragons on the ground. The dragons flying weren't much better off, with very little space to fly the farther in towards the center of Berk they got.
D/n and I circled around Berk a few times before finally seeing a sufficient place to land. Conveniently, it was right next to the Great Hall where we were sure all the Vikings were eating. The inside was just as bad as the outside, with Vikings all close together, trying to talk and eat their food while dragons tried stealing it out of their hands. It didn't take too long to spot Valka standing beside Cloudjumper, eating some food while watching the Vikings around her. Our eyes met and hers instantly widened. She hurriedly put her plate down and made her way towards D/n and I.
"Y/n? My has it been awhile, where have you been?" She asked, enveloping me in a hug before scratching D/n's ears. I almost didn't hear her over all the other Vikings but caught the jist of what she was saying. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." I answered, but it seemed Valka couldn't quite hear me. "What?" She asked, leaning in towards me to hear what I said. "Let's go outside, it's too loud in here." I said and she nodded, leading us out the doors into the sunshine/ Outside wasn't much better with dragons replacing Vikings, but at least it wasn't stuffy.
"So, where have you been? Eret has been anxious to hear from you, and I couldn't say I wasn't either." Valka asked. "It's a long story," I explained. "I have time," she answered, smiling. We headed towards her hut where we would be undisturbed.
It took an hour to explain and tell of what D/n and I had been up to for quite a few months. "A Dragon Kingdom you say? That sounds amazing." Valka said, after listening to me explain everything. "Exactly, and it's so big, like a whole new world hiding underneath the ocean."
