"Well I did love him but, I wasn't ready to be married to him. When was he even going to propose?" I ask her
"Italy." She says and my eyes almost pop out of my head.
"Oh, wow. That would have been a bad idea." I tell her.
"Yea, well Umm.. I should go now." She says. "Here's your stuff and ummm... take care Ms. Red." She says curtly.
I can't believe, Andre was going to propose. What even gave him the idea that I was ready to be engaged? I never gave him any signs, did I? Wow, thank God, Zac showed up at that airport, or I would be in Italy, turning down his proposal, yet stuck with him there.
*Ding Dong* the doorbell rings again and I'm guessing Clara forgot to pass me something else. I open the door and it's Zac with a brown paper bag and two cups of coffee on a tray. Great, as happy as I am to see him standing here, I've still yet to process where we go from here.
"Hey," He says with a wide smile on his face, his eyes were all goggly like a cartoon character. "I brought breakfast." He says, still smiling. He leans in to place a kiss on my lips as if we were a couple, I quickly, dodged it but not in an obvious way I hope. I still don't know where we stand and until we figure it out, I need to keep some space between us.
"Come in," I say, casually. Giving him a weak smile. He walks in, stops right in front of me, and places a quick kiss on my cheek. I flinched a little. He goes straight to the pantry, laying out stuff on the counter and pulling out plates from the cabinet.
"What did you get?" I ask him, as I reach into the brown paper bag to pull out whatever was in there.
"I got you an egg muffin from the coffee shop you like." He says and a smile forms on my face. It's little things like this. Zac knows and remembers every single thing about me.
"How are you feeling?" He asks, walking towards the counter and laying out plates.
"I just found out, Andre was going to propose in Italy," I tell him and he stops whatever he was doing and stares at me in shock.
"He.. are you serious? How do you know?" He asks in shock.
"His assistant came over to pass me my stuff. He had a ring and was going to buy a house for us and everything." I tell him and he just looks at me mortified. He goes completely silent for a little while as he looks down at his fingers and then looks at me again.
"Would you have said yes?" He asks me in an uncertain tone.
"What?" I ask. Confused and taken aback by his question.
"If I hadn't shown up, you would have gone to Italy, would you have said yes?" He asks again in an extremely serious tone. Was he kidding?
"To be married to him?" I ask, just to be sure that's what he was talking about.
"Yes, Jessica. Would you have said yes to being his wife?" He asks in a completely annoyed and irritated tone. I have no idea what to feel right now. I'm kind of annoyed that he'd even think that. But at the same time, his feelings are valid, cause I did let him down multiple times. First, it was Jason and then Andre.
"Are you kidding me?" I ask. Reaching for his arm to pull him closer to me. I'm at eye level with him as I'm sitting on the high stool, I look into his eyes. His beautiful green eyes. I place my palm on the side of his face and begin to caress his cheek with my thumb. He leans into my touch and closes his eyes for a minute as if he was savoring my touch. "I love you... it's always been, you Zac." I say, assuring him. "If I knew he was even thinking of marriage, I would have run."
His eyes flutter open as he looks at me. "Why does this feel like a dream." He says in a daze. It was so cringing so I jokingly pushed him away, completely ruining the moment.
"Stop being dramatic." I tease, rolling my eyes at him, and spinning my chair around to face the counter. In one swift movement, he spins me back around, grabbing my face, he smashes his lips into mine. It took me by surprise, giving me a few seconds to actually register that we were kissing. It started off gently, his warm lips, dancing against mine softly as he slowly began to get extremely possessive over my mouth. My hands wander from his chest to his neck, pulling him closer to me. He gently pulls away after a while, allowing both of us to breathe. I stare into his green eyes which are now a darker shade than it was before and smile dizzily. He smiles back, our foreheads still touching. He places a peck on my lips and walks over to the other end of the counter saying "are you hungry?" While I was still trying to recover from our kiss.
"I was, but now I'm kinda filled up," I tell him cheekily.
"Be careful with your choice of words Jessica Red. I've waited for this moment too long, I may not have the willpower to control myself." He says, in a deep sexy voice as he leans over the kitchen counter. My tummy does a little flip and I squeeze my legs shut.
