Another Lapidot story

Lapis Pov: 

I run my hand through my hair as i stare at myself in the mirror, i lock my eyes on my reflection before i leave the bathroom and down the stairs, i quickly grab some breakfast and head out the door, looking up i notice the sky is slightly gray, it'll probably rain later. Pushing the front door of the school open i head inside and to my first class of the day. As the class starts i peer out the window, the dark clouds looming over the school and the surrounding area, as i stare my mind begins to wander, do i really have feelings for Peridot? I mean i did almost kiss her the other day... and i actually did kiss her at the party...

The longer the class goes on the more my mind circles through the same questions over and over, my eyes watching the dark clouds hover over the school. I head to my next class, where i do the same as in my last class, just stare out the window with the same questions going round in my head, completely zoning out from what the teacher is saying. Once lunch rolls around i head to the school toilet to take a quick break, i finish washing my hands and head back out into the hall, making my way to the cafeteria. 

As i turn the corner to enter the cafeteria i freeze on the spot as i look over to my usual table, sitting there is Peridot looking extremely uncomfortable, but across from her is Jasper, leaning over the table and talking to her, i can feel my heart start to bound in my chest, oh god, what's he doing here? why now? why couldn't i just never have to see him again?   Peridot slowly looks over at me, her eyes widening as she spots me, as her eyes widen Jasper turns to see what she's looking at. The second he spots me he slowly stands up from the table, his eyes locked on me with a furious look on his face. 

Peridot Pov:

The moment Jasper spots Lapis from across the room a furious look spreads across his face, he goes to start moving towards her but the second he does Lapis bolts to the door, running outside onto the school grounds. As the door swings closed Jasper storms around the table and over to me, grabbing the front of my shirt and pulling me towards him "Did you know she was here runt?! did you?!"  i stutter  nervously as i reply "J-Jasper i-i..." he pulls me in closer, inches from his face "You what?!"  i just stare up at him, to scared to respond. After a second Jasper throws me down angrily, storming off down one of the halls, i pick myself and run over to the door Lapis ran out of, pushing it open. 

Pushing the doors open i step out into the now pouring rain, i take a quick look around before i spot Lapis sitting against a tree at the edge of the wooded area just outside of the school, she looks up and as soon as she spots me she gets up and runs into the trees. I quickly run after her and into the trees, i look around trying to find her, the rain soaking my clothes as i run through the trees, trying to find Lapis. Finally i spot her standing in the middle of a clearing, i run over to her as fast as i can, panting and catching my breath as i enter the clearing, i look up and call out to her "LAPIS!!"

Lapis Pov: 

I turn as Peridot calls my name, she is standing at the edge of the clearing, catching her breath and staring at me, i look down slightly "Go away Peridot... leave me alone" she steps slightly closer "I-it's okay Lapis... Jasper's gone now" i keep my eyes fixed on the floor "I said go away Peridot..." she takes another step forward "B-but why? you're safe now..." i look up at her, tears welling in my eyes "GO AWAY PERIDOT! I knew this would happen if i came back! now Jasper is just going to start coming after me again and i'll be all alone... just like before..." she takes yet another step forward "But, Lapis... you're not alone... you have me" i keep my eyes on her, tears now streaming down my face "No, Peridot... you're just nice to me because you have to... because we live together... i doubt you ever cared..." she stops walking forward, a look of hurt on her face "Lapis... of course i care about you... i wouldn't have tried to make up with you when you moved here, or got you that gift, o-or asked to be your friend... or enjoy that kiss so much if i didn't..."

My eyes widen slightly as i stand there, the rain completely soaking me, the tears stop as i come to a sudden realisation, i quickly step forward and place myself in front of Peridot, i place my hands on the side of her head, tilting it up to face me, i lean down and press my lips against hers, closing my eyes and finally accepting my feelings. As i hold her head in my hands i can feel her tremble slightly, i open one eye slightly to see her hands nervously fidgeting by her sides, i lean into her more, causing her to step backwards until her back hits against a tree. The longer i keep my lips pressed against hers the more i feel Peridot begin to relax, she slowly moves her hands forwards, placing them on my sides, as she does so i slide my hands down from her head and onto her shoulders. 

We slowly slide down the trunk of the tree until i'm sitting in Peridots' lap, my lips still locked with hers, the rain drips down our faces, running off the edge of our noses and sliding across our connected lips. After what feels like an eternity i slowly part my lips from hers, opening my eyes as i do, i look down at her, her glasses are hanging on her nose slightly and her cheeks are bright red, as she opens her eyes i can see a look of both surprise and relief, as her emerald eyes stare into mine i quietly speak up "I'm sorry..."
