"No!" Four screeched. "Detention for you as well!"

And so the class went on. As the school bell tolled to signal the class's release, Teddy made a mental note to arrive to math as soon as possible; partly to avoid being late and getting detention, partly to be able to choose a back seat and be as far away from the Professor as possible.
"So, Teddy and Dora!" Sawyer said, practically bouncing up to the two of them. "Are you gonna sit with me and my friends at lunch?"
"Si," Dora replied, nodding.
Teddy held a finger up in the air as she used her other hand to type into the AAC App. "Yes but first I have to text my other friends to let them know I won't be sitting with them today," the voice read aloud.
"Oh okay!" Sawyer said as Teddy sent Leah and Penelope a text informing them that she'd be sitting at another table. Once Teddy was finished, she gave them a nod, before stopping and turning to Ellie.
"Wha- Oh, it's fine! Don't worry about me," Ellie said. "I'm actually planning on sitting with Lou at lunch today but I'll try and sit with you tomorrow!"
"Oh, alright," Sawyer said, as Teddy and Dora waved goodbye to Ellie. As they exited the class and walked towards the lunchroom, Teddy heard a ping from her phone. Leah had texted her back.
Leah: See told u, you'd make new friends! Have a good day! 💚
Oh right, Teddy thought as she pocketed her phone again. Now I'll have to deal with Leah's "I told you so, you need to be more positive" spiel after school today. But I suppose it's a small price to pay to have more friends.
As soon as the three girls entered the lunch room, Teddy winced and covered her ears. She had almost forgotten how loud the lunchroom was.
Sawyer and Dora both turned to Teddy in concern. "Hey, Teddy," Sawyer started, "Are you okay-?"
Teddy nodded, as she spotted the table where Sawyer's friends were sitting. Thankfully, it was in a more secluded area, which meant that once they got there, it would be quieter. She just had to get through the middle of the cafeteria.
Teddy felt Dora squeeze her hand. Teddy focused on how cold Dora's hand felt to block out the cafeteria's sounds. Sawyer looked back at Teddy, still unsure, but she just nodded. The three made their way through the lunchroom until at last, they reached the table Lola and Talia were sitting at, along with another sophomore girl.
"Gale! You actually took my advice!" Sawyer said at the sight of the other girl.
"I thought you already realized that I did last year," Gale replied.
"Well, yeah, but I still wasn't entirely sure," Sawyer said. "Oh, by the way, this is Dora and Teddy! Dora, Teddy, this is my other friend, Gale!"
"Hey," Gale said, offering a casual wave. As the three sat down on the opposite side of the table, Talia suddenly stood up, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Hola, Dora! Hey Teddy and Sawyer! Guess what I can do!" She said enthusiastically.
Gale nearly coughed out her drink. "Talia, no!"
"Talia yes."
"Talia," Lola said, "you're an an idiot."
"But I'm your idiot and you still love me," Talia replied.
"Excuse me? I do not love anyone," Lola said. "In fact, I take personal offense to your ridiculous claim that I am capable of feeling love."
"Wait, what? What's going on?" Sawyer asked, looking at the three sophomores in confusion.
Gale sighed. "Talia learned something new in gym class."
"You bet!" Talia said, as she grabbed a soccer ball from her backpack and moved over to the space beside the table. "Okay, so," Talia started, backing up a bit.
Suddenly, Teddy saw two other students, oblivious to how close they were to getting bumped into by Talia. She grabbed her phone, trying to warn Talia and the two students, but the others at the table were already on it.
"Hey, watch out!"
Thankfully one of the students, who Teddy now realized was Isa, had heeded the warning and quickly got out of the way. She tried to grab her friend out of the way as well, but unfortunately both Talia and the other student comprehended the warning too late. In the end, the other student ended up on the ground with her tea spilled all over her shirt and Talia was desperately trying to apologize.
"Sorry, dude, I didn't see you there," Talia said, grabbing some nearby napkins and handing it to the other student.
Teddy, Sawyer, Gale, and Dora went over to help the other student as Isa leaned down to help her up, while Lola rubbed her temple in frustration. "Talia, I told you," the raven haired girl scolded her friend.
Teddy suddenly caught a sight of something shiny on the floor. Glasses, she thought. This must belong to the girl. She picked them up and tapped Isa on the shoulder. Isa took the glasses, thanking Teddy with her eyes.
"Becky, look!" Isa said, handing the other girl, Becky, the glasses. "This girl, uh... Teddy, I think?...she found these for you!"
As Becky put her glasses back on , she muttered a quiet thanks to Teddy. Now that the other girl's head was up, Teddy saw how one of Becky's eyes was green, while the other was blue. And as Teddy watched, those same heterochromatic eyes turned to give Talia a sharp glare.
Teddy couldn't help but get an odd feeling that she had only witnessed the beginning of drama.

Sorry if the part about Four's class wasn't long enough for you. I take online math classes and the last time I was in a real world math class was middle school, so I don't really remember what y'all do on the first day of math class.
Also, yes, I am evil. Mua ha ha ha ha! Just because the Taco conflict is wrapping up in canon doesn't mean it's wrapping up here. In fact, it hasn't even really started in this AU yet. And for the record, don't worry. This is not the reason why the Taco conflict starts. Really, I'm not gonna make Book that petty. This, however, is one of the many stepping stones to building up resentment and distrust that causes her to assume the worst when this AU's version of the Taco conflict happens.
