Another exhange (Sketchxreader)

I came down the stairs with all my luggage and I heard my mum laugh at me. "What?" I asked as I placed them down on the floor when I got down the stairs and smiled. I noticed she had her orange pill bottle in her hand and my smile faded slightly."Surely you don't need ALL of that." She said, smiling. "Yes, infact I do. One bag has all my summer things and one with my winter things. Weather is unpredictable." I said, tapping my head. "Alright dear." Mum said.

I made sure I had what I needed and got my phone. I checked the time before getting into the car after we put my luggage in the boot. 12:45. "Come Y/n! Your flight leaves in twenty minutes!" Mum called into the house. "Uh...Mum...I am in the car already." I said out the window. She turned around and smiled before she started to cough and I sighed.

We drove to the airport and I waved good bye to Mum when I went to my gate. "BYE! STAY SAFE!" She said, waving her arms wildly and I couldn't help but chuckle at her as I gave her a wave before boardering the plane. I looked back one last time and saw her put her head back and put a whole hand full of her pills in her mouth.

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen, I am your captain and I ensure you that you will have a wonderful and safe travel to the Flower City." The captain said as I found my seat. I had a window seat! Yes!

I took out my phone when a boy plopped down next to me. He had head phones on and had Minecraft on his phone screen. I smiled at him and he waved. "Hey." I said, being a welcoming person. He took out a note pad and showed me a pre-written letter.

《Hey, I am Sub. I am a mute (••)》

"Oh. Hi Sub. I am Y/n. One of my aunts is also a mute." I said, smiling. Sub smiled and scribbled on his note pad as the plane began to lift off.

《What you gonna do in Mass? 》

"I am going to be an exchange student. What you doing?" I asked. He scribbled again.

《I am gonna go live with my friends for a while. My parents are going to Ireland and nobody can watch over me》

"Oh alright. How old are you?"

《18》

"That's nice! I am going to turn 18 in four months."

《I wish you a happy birthday.》

I laughed and smiled. "Why thank you, Sub. I trust you had a wonderful birthday too." Sub nodded and smiled in return.

We spoke some more and I found out he is also going to the same high school I am going too. Eventually, we both fell asleep.

I was woken up by the flight attendant and saw Sub busy rubbing his eyes. "Sorry to wake you ma'am but it is time to get off the plane to go to the next plane." She said. "Oh. Sorry about that." I said as I gathered my stuff. She smiled warmly and said,"No problem ma'am. I love your accent." I looked up at her and smiled. Odd thing to say, but it was quite nice of her to say so, I guess. "Why thank you." I said.

Sub got up and I got up and we followed the rest of the passengers off the plane.

We were standing around, waiting for our next flight. Sub began to write.

《I am hungry. Wanna come get food with me?》

"Sure. There's a café busy selling muffins and sandwiches." I said, pointing to a café that was not to far from us. Sub gave a thumbs up and began pulling his luggage and I followed him.

"Hello. What are you two having today?" The lady at the cashier asked. "Hi. I am going to have a chicken mayo sandwich...and you, Sub?" I asked. He began writing. The lady sighed and looked behind us. I looked aswell and saw a long line busy developing. "Look honey, if you don't mind, instead of writing your order down and playing this childish silent game, could you speak? We have alot of customers who need to eat aswell." She said impatiently. I gasped at how rude she was and heard something fall.

It was Sub, dropping his pencil and note pad and leaving with his suitcases, sighing and his head down. "How rude! How could you be so insensitive? You minger!" I said before taking my things, picking Sub's note pad and pencil before giving the lady, who looked rather confused on what I called her, an evil eye before storming away and looking for Sub, leaving my sandwhich behind. Luckily, I never paid for it.

I walked around and couldn't find him. "Flight 187 could you please make way to your flight. Flight 187 could you please make way to your flight." The intercom went. I sighed. Well, I'll give him his pad and pencil on the plane.

I gave my luggage and boarded the plane. I saw Sub in the far back, his green hoodie over his head and his hands covering his eyes. I felt really bad for him and before I handed the note pad to him I wrote: Are you alright?

I put it infront of him and he looked up and saw the note pad. He took it and saw me. His eyes were red and so was his face. I gave him a warm smile to try and comfort him after he read to note. He looked at me before shaking his head and began crying again. I sat down next to him and put my arm around him.

I barely even knew him but I could see he needed my help. I gave him his pencil back and he put it into his pocket. He looked up and shortly after, the plane took off again.

"So? You alright now?" I asked. He shrugged his shoulders as he looked at his hands. "It's okay Sub. I absolutely do not know what was going through that woman's head." I said softly. He sniffled and looked at me. He gave me a weak smile and calmed down.

After an hour or so, a flight attendent came and asked,"Would you two like anything to drink?" "Umm...could I get a Cola?" I asked. The flight attendent  smiled and looked at Sub. He pointed to me. "You want a Cola too?" I asked. He smiled and nodded. "Two Colas please. Want anything to eat?" I asked. He got his pencil out his pocket and wrote: BLT please.
"And one BLT please." I said. She nodded before walking away.

"So, your friends. Are they also in the high school where we going?" I asked. Sub nodded and looked past me and I turned too see the flight attendant with our orders. "Here you go." She said as she handed Sub his BLT and I took the 2 Colas. "Thanks." I said and she walked away.

Sub ate and I took sips of my fizzy drink and looked past Sub and outside the window. "Look Sub!" I pointed out the window and he looked out the window and saw the moon emerging. He smiled and took another bite of his BLT. I checked the time. 20:15.  I quickly did the calculations in my head. We left at 13:15 and now it is 20:15. It takes 9 hours from London to Massachusetts."1 more hour and then we land! I am so excited!" I exclaimed. Sub finished his sandwich and began to write.

《WHOOP WHOOP!!! I am gonna go sleep now. It's gonna be pretty late.》

"Is seven at night late for you? I suppose everyone has their sleeping times.Night." I said. Sub waved and settled down and closed his eyes. After a few minutes, I ended up falling asleep myself.

"Hey Y/n. I am-" a boy with a blurry face began before being knocked over by another boy. "Oh my! Are you okay?" I asked the boy. "Yeah."

I woke up to Sub poking my cheek. "Sub? Why are you doing that?" I asked, pushing his hand away and he grinned. He was holding his pad.

《The plane is gonna land.Time to wake up Y/n》

"Oh. I thought you were just being annoying." I said, rubbing my eyes. Sub smiled and shook his head.
