Xavier's Regretful Rejection

No One's POV

Sasha and Cody try talking to the little pup. Well, more like Sasha, the poor thing is terrified of Cody so he is currently sitting in the corner. Sasha is sitting by the pup on the couch talking about meaningless little things. It must be working, the little thing edges closer to Sasha for comfort.

The pup, whose name they found out is Jasper is desperate for a motherly touch which Sasha is happy to give. As soon as she saw Jasper her motherly instincts went in overdrive.

While Sasha and the pup are getting to know each other Cody watches from his corner with a smitten smile on his face. He must have been spaced out a while because the next thing he knew, a tiny finger poked the corner of his mouth. A faint 'awe'  can be heard in the background but that isn't what matters right now. The pup actually came to Cody on his own and he isn't going to let it be ruined.

"Hi there little guy, your name's Jasper, right?" Cody spoke in a soft tone.

A small nod came from Jasper.

"That's a nice name."

Another nod.

"C-ca-ca-n-n I, uh, pl-pla-yy with y-your, uh, ha-hair?"

Inside Cody is screaming, Jasper sounds so adorable with his stutter, so of course he can't say no. A small squeal slipped from the boy's mouth as he practically runs around Cody to play with his hair.

Cody looks up at his mate in awe. Sasha just looks back at him with a beautifully teary expression.

Suddenly Sasha covers her mouth, wincing and bending over. Small whines escape her mouth. Cody is on his feet in an instant. He checks her over, rubbing her stomach, making her smile.

"I think they kicked for the first time!" A twinkle appears in his eyes at the thought.

A small body squirms his way in between them. They watch as Jasper lays his small hand over Sasha's stomach. The baby kicks again, with Sasha wincing and Jasper making a surprised 'oh' face.

After that Jasper will not stop putting his hand on Sasha's stomach for a while. It brings everyone in the room a special kind of joy to see two pups playing together when one hasn't even been born yet. While Jasper was playing with the unborn pup, Sasha and Cody were having a conversation.

Sasha's wolf is imprinted on the little pup and wants to adopt him. Cody is slightly against it considering they have a pup on the way already. Sasha countering that Jasper is already attached to them and needs parently figures in his life. Their mind-banter continued until Cody cracked and agreed that they would see about adopting him.

"Hey, sweetie?" Sasha starts.

Jasper never looks up but hums.

"What would you say about coming home with us?"

A happy squeal comes from the small pup, his body practically vibrating with joy.

Cody's POV

I can't believe it. We now have a little boy, who we will love with all of our hearts, and a little pup on the way! Jasper practically radiates the embodiment of happiness as he hops to our home. A few people look at him with pity in their eyes but don't approach him. But that's probably because my fiery little Sasha glares at each one. Already a protective mama.
