thought of the day: horror and beauty incarnate that is what is said about the god machines of the mechanicuss, and it is the truth that they surpass even the will of gods. - unknown

pov Jaune
we were all sitting in the cafeteria some of us were watching the initiation some were just talking. that's when Jane asked me a question.
Jane: Jaune since you fought in a galaxy no one of us knows about what is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?
Jaune: the most beautiful thing would also be a thing that scares me to this day. let me tell you about titans and the first time i saw one.
flashback
it was on a hive world which i have forgotten the name of, i had at the time served maybe 5 years in the guard and was a sergeant of my own squad at the time. we were going over the mission plan with the platoon captain when a Legionnaire came rushing towards us.
platoon captain Anderson: what is it legionnaire
legionnaire: the lord commander has ordered all troops of the 1st and 2nd companies to go in a ceremonial stance because of incoming Astartes.
platoon captain Anderson: you have heard him men get your squads ready and stand in order.
an hour later
we all stood in a ceremonial position so that the Astartes could walk right through us to the lord commander and the centurions. eventually, i saw three giants walking past clad in mostly black with bronze detailing and some purple hear and there, the visors of their helmets a bright white compared to the rest of their armour, all three had their armour decorated with bones and skulls, one carried a plasma pistol and a totem of sorts his helmet had some sort of vox speakers built into them, another was equipped with a bolt pistol and a lance that had chainsaws build into it, his helmet seemed of a simpler design of how one would see a feudal knights helmet, the last one had a bolt pistol and a poweraxe his helmet looked like it was inspired by birds since its front seemed like it had a large beak.
lord commander: hail lords Astartes!
guardsmen: hail!
the Astartes who had the helmet with a beak spoke first.
beak Astartes: hail lord commander. we have come to discuss our battle plans with you. i have brought with me chaplain Onac and my companion knight sergeant Kribur.
lord commander: how many Astartes are with you?
beak Astartes: we have 50 Astartes on the planet but for the siege here we have with us 4 knights of sergeant Kriburs cavalry squad and 5 more Tactical Marines.
lord commander: with that many Astartes we will take this world easily in his name.
beak Astartes: that is not all it is said that titans will be deployed to help conquer this city.
most of us were confused about why titans would be needed we along with the other regiments deployed would be enough to take the hive city. that is when the Astartes spoke again.
beak Astartes: intelligence suggests that the enemy has titans hiding in the hive-city.
this made some either shocked or confused when i heard someone whisper.
???: we are all going to die.
although it wasn't more than a whisper it seemed that the Astartes noticed since the one known as chaplain Onac started moving towards the one who whispered, with the guardsmen stepping aside not wanting to get in his way. when he reached the one who whispered he spoke his voice rough and heavy.
