You were visiting your family and the new team back on Berk. You did this every so often to check on them. You'd been doing it a bit more often after the news that your mother had passed away. You just wanted to be sure your family was doing okay.
Besides, you had a new Rider at Dragon's Edge to help out when you were away. Heather had finally joined the Riders. You were glad she was staying. It was nice to have another actual girl around, even though she hung out with Arrow a lot.
"So, you've got everything under control?" You asked Zane.
"There hasn't been an incident ever since you sent the new team over. We take turns with patrols daily and we keep watch every other night." You nodded.
"Good work, Zane. I'll send word if something happens where patrols and watches would need to be increased. I'm glad you're all doing just fine and getting along."
"Ash was skeptical at first, but he's really bonded with Tyrone. They've all joined in extremely well." You smiled.
"Perfect. Thanks for the report, Zane."
"Anytime, (Y/n). Oh, and next time, bring everybody to visit. I'm sure more than just me, the guys, and Cala want to see all of you again. I know Stoick and Gobber are called a bit more often, but still."
"I'll have to see what works out with the rest of the Riders." You told him, mounting Nightshade.
"See ya, (Y/n)."
"Bye, Zane. Keep up the good work." With that, you flew off, beginning the long flight back to the Edge.
As soon as you made it back, there was clearly something wrong. You noticed that everybody was gone. Something's wrong. You patted Nightshade. "Alright, girl. Let's go find them." She sniffed around and roared before running forward and leaping off the platform. You both took to the air as she began to track their sent.
Soon, you made it to an island with a cave right out front. You hopped off of Nightshade and took your weapons out. You looked to her and nodded. She lit her fire and kept her tale up with her darts ready to fire.
You walked in together, but the cave was empty, aside from a few cages. They were empty as well. Now you knew something was wrong. What if they've all been captured? Oh, Gods, Hiccup! He's in trouble! You hopped on Nightshade again.
"Track Hiccup and Toothless, girl! We need to find them!" You told her. She barked and sniffed around. She took off again, running out of the cave before taking to the air. You both flew along for a while. There was nothing but ocean for the longest time. You were worried that you weren't going to find them before their scent faded.
Soon you saw something in the distance. You got closer and saw a big metal dome. You knew it had to be made by Hunters. You used the spyglass you'd made to see what it was. You'd made one modeled after Hiccup's for situations exactly like this.
As you looked closer, you saw dragons fighting in the arena. You were shocked. Dragon fights!? It quickly bubbled into anger at the thought of any of your friends being forced to watch their dragon as they were also forced to fight. "Come on, girl. Let's go find our friends."
You both headed down and landed in a nearby forest. You had a plan already and you knew you had to do it right or you'd be putting more than just your own life at risk. You both hunkered down and Nightshade whined, clearly curious about what the plan was. "We're gonna wait until nightfall and then we're gonna sneak in. After we're in, you can track Hiccup and Toothless and we can free them and whoever else got captured together." She barked, agreeing with your plan.
