"Hiccup! Can you toss some more tools up here? I need a few different ones for this part!"
"Sure thing! Just a sec!" You climbed carefully closer as Hiccup climbed up to give you the tools you needed.
"Thanks!"
"Ah, don't mention it. I'm gonna go start working on the other end. Do you have everything you need here?"
"Yep! All good!" Hiccup walked off as you kept working. The two of you were currently working on restoring your training course. Although, you may or may not have added a few features onto the original blueprints, hoping he wouldn't notice. Of course, your plan failed almost immediately once he noticed the extra materials that you needed. You had tried to play innocent, but Hiccup had simply sighed and said you were crazy before giving you a kiss and going along with it.
As you were working, Nightshade padded over with something. You smiled at her. "Hey, girl! What's up?" Then, you saw what was in her mouth. You frowned and sighed heavily. "Hiccup!!" He looked up from where he was working and frowned too.
"Not again..." He came over as you climbed down. The rest of the gang had come too.
"As soon as we turned our backs, he was at it again." Arrow said.
"Doesn't that dragon ever quit? This is the third time this week." Garff eagerly looked at Smidvarg as Nightshade setthe little cacooned dragon down.
"No, Garff! Not Smidvarg!" Fishlegs told him. You stepped up quickly.
"No, Garff! Not food!" You told him sternly. Of course, Tuff butted in instantly, signing it instead.
"No, Garff, no You cannot eat Smidvarg For he's our good friend And we love him to the en-" Everyone glared at him. "What? Not doing it this time? Shame. That is one magnificent song." Nightshade barked at him and he backed off.
"Thank you, Nightshade." You told her as Hiccup freed little Smidvarg.
"Uh, Hiccup, I hate to say it, but this is getting way too dangerous." Fishlegs said.
"I agree. He's following his true nature, hunting like an adult Death Song now."
"Well, it's not his fault. He's just doing what his instincts tell him." Arrow said.
"Yeah, can we really blame him? He doesn't know any better." You said, trying to defend him.
"I understand, (Y/n), but his instincts don't care about the safety of us or our dragons." Hiccup told you. You turned and saw that Nightshade and Garff were running and tumbling around, happily singing to each other. You smiled, warmed by it.
"Not for all our dragons. I mean, these two have bonded so well that Garff's song doesn't even affect Nightshade anymore."
"May be true for you, but try flying a mile in my saddle." Fishlegs said, holding Meatlug back who was trying to fly to Garff, hypnotized.
"Earplugs, quickly!" Hiccup said as the others all got the dragon earplugs out. You frowned.
"But then...what are we gonna do?" Hiccup frowned a little. You sighed. "Let me guess..."
"It might be time to find Garff a new home. A permanent home." You didn't really like it, but you knew Hiccup and the others were right.
"...Alright. Then we better start right away."
*The next day*
"I'm telling you guys, it's perfect!" Fishlegs said with a smile.
"But what exactly do you mean by 'perfect'?" You asked. Your nerves had been getting to you about it. Garff had kind of become a second dragon to you. You'd actually been able to ride him a few times with Nightshade flying beside him for safety. Of course, that was at night and the others didn't know about it. Still, he was a good dragon and he actually liked flying with you, even if it had only been a few times.
