Madison didn't know how to feel now she knew Max was back. She knew she wasn't really over him. But she couldn't hurt Tom the way Max had hurt her.

When she got into work that morning, Madison saw Max waiting for her. "You know you're not my boyfriend. You don't need to wait for me," she said.

"No. But despite it all, I still care."

Madison sighed. "Max. You can't love. That's your problem. You say you loved me. But I doubt it. You used me and I've accepted that," she said.

Max looked at her and sighed. "I cared about you. I honestly did," he told her.

Madison couldn't tell if Max was just messing with her head again or if he was being honest. She smiled slightly. "Well. I'm hoping you can make a go of things now you're back. Just don't be a dick," she said.

Tom saw Madison and Max. He knew that there were unresolved feelings between the two of them. But he hoped that Madison wouldn't go back to him.

Tom smiled when Madison walked in. She walked over and kissed him gently. "I saw you with Max this morning," he said.

Madison sighed. "He was waiting for me. We had a chat and I told him that he had to make things work this time," she told him.

Tom nodded. He kissed her lips gently again. "Coffee?"

"Yeah please. I'm shattered."

Madison sat in her classroom and sighed. She kept on thinking about Max. She knew she shouldn't even have him on her mind but she couldn't help it. She knew deep down, she still loved him.

Madison looked up as Max walked in. She smiled slightly. "What can I do for you?" She asked.

"Join me for a drink tonight? Strictly as colleagues. Nothing more," Max said as he sat on the desk.

Madison sighed. "I don't know Max. You're coming on too strong and I don't think I like it," she said.

Max looked at her and smirked. "You didn't mind before. Look, I meant it. A drink as friends and colleagues. Nothing more."

"Fine. A couple of drinks. Then I'm going home and pretending no one exists," she said.

Tom wasn't happy when he knew Madison was going to see Max. He had the feeling that something would happen between them. "Look. I don't trust him."

"Behave. Nothing is going to happen with me and Max. I promise," Madison said.

Tom sighed. He didn't trust Madison's word. "Yeah okay. Just be careful."

Max looked up as Madison walked in. He smiled. "You look beautiful," he said as he handed her a drink.

Madison smiled slightly. She sat down and took a sip of her drink. Max looked at her. "How did Tom take it?" He asked.

"Does it matter? He wasn't happy and I don't want to hurt him. He was there for me after you ripped my heart out," she said.

Max looked at her and smiled. He was going to do whatever he could to win her back. To show her that he had changed. But would he be able to convince her he wasn't the same?
