Seeing someone you love in pain is one of the most atrocious things life has to offer. You were in love with Billy Hargrove. 

Meeting the first day of school, you both clicked instantly. While you were kind of bitchy, he was a complete asshole; and that worked for you. You laughed, you fought, and you made love all while having the time of your lives. 

It was truly a romance to die for. 

And in that moment, watching Billy scream in the mall, everything around you going to hell, you couldn't catch my breath. Your ragged breathing and blank mind stalled completely at the utter look of pain and sorrow in his eyes. 

The same eyes that looked at you after prom and told you he loved you. The same eyes that were furious when you stopped him from bullying the younger kids. The same eyes that streamed tears as you told him he could be the man his father wasn't. 

"Billy!" you yelled, forgetting everything and mind solely focused on getting to him. The others tried to stop you, but you dodged them, determined to save him. When you were about a yard away, the creature ripped through him, his scream filling the space. 

The scream that would haunt you for the rest of your life. 

Dropping to your knees next to him, you cradled his face in your hands, crying loudly for him. 

"Billy, please. No, no, no, no," you repeated over and over again, no one to hear you cries for help. 

His eyes looked at you and for the first time all month, you saw peace swimming in his pools of blue. 

"I love you," he choked out, blood dribbling from his mouth. Leaning down to give him a soft kiss at the corner of his lips, you held him as close as he could. In that instance, you wanted him to feel the love you had for him, rather than just saying the words. 

With your foreheads pressed together, you looked him the eyes as they slowly became more and more distant before taking his final breath. Numb sobbing racked through your body as Max took you in her arms, also crying. 

Billy was gone.
