Suddenly overcome with exhaustion, I pleaded with Taylor. "Taylor, please, don't do this. I don't wanna fight you, baby. Let me explain. Please." She watched me with her unnerving, stormy, gray eyes. A lifetime seemed to pass before she nodded and changed back.

Taylor crossed her arms and erased all types of emotion from her face. "You have five minutes, Collins." She hissed my name like it was a sin to even think about it. Hurt, I looked away and nodded. I sat on the edge of my bed.

"It's true, I did know we were...mates." At this, Taylor bristled. "and I wanted to tell you. Honest. But...everything was going so fast; the moving in, going to school, the rogues, the wedding...I just didn't know when to tell you. And how."

"But I tried anyway. Three times, I think. We were interrupted twice and you fell asleep on me the third time." Taylor blushed a light pink and I smiled. She saw me and frowned, then motioned for me to continue. "Taylor, I'm sorry I didn't tell you before. I know I had so many chances to let you know but...I was stupid, Taylor...please..."

Taylor said nothing. She peered down at me, her eyes revealing nothing. When she finally spoke, her eyes and voice were cold, chilling me to the spine. I never knew she could sound so dead.

"Listen here, Collins, 'cause I'm not gonna repeat myself." She stepped closer, only a foot away from me, and I wanted nothing more than to throw my arms around her and breathe in her intoxicating scent. But she'd probably rip my door off and fling it at me. "I promised myself long ago that when I'd find my mate, no matter who he'd be, I'd reject him." Alarmed, my jaw dropped and I stared at her. "I had a plan from the very beginning; having a mate would only distract me."

"Taylor..." I stretched my hand out. I needed her close to me. I needed to touch her. I needed to hold her. I need her. "Please, don't...I--"

"Wait," Taylor sharply cut in. "Just don't, Grayson."

Hey, she's saying your actual name this time.

Oh, now you come in, huh? I sourly said.

My wolf didn't back off. Better late than never, right?

"Let me finish." Her voice was softer, and I reveled in it's sweet, melodious quality. "Part of me...part of me, deep down, knew we were connected somehow. My wolf even suggested we were mates once, but I just brushed it off. I thought you would tell me if you knew. You promised." Ashamed, I hung my head. "But...now that I actually know...I don't know what to do."

I jumped at the chance to persuade her. Shooting up, I caught her hand and pulled her closer to me. Obviously startled, Taylor stumbled towards me, colliding with my chest. Not missing a beat, I picked her up and held her. Just held her. Nuzzling her neck, I whispered, "Please, Taylor, please. You know I lov--like you a lot. I know you must feel something for me; I found you in my bed!" I smugly stated the last fact, raising my brows at her.

Heat flooded her cheeks and she pushed me away. I smirked at her embarrassed reaction. Pushing a stray hair behind her ear, I whispered, "It's okay, sweetheart, I know I'm irresistible, it's nice to know that you think so too."A rosy blush spread on her cheeks and she gave me a light peck on my own cheek.

Shocked, I touched my face, staring at her. She laughed and grinned at me, her smile stunning. "Okay, Collins, you've passed." She threw her arms around me and nuzzled the side of my neck. I smiled, resting my head on top of her's.

"Wait..." I spoke slowly as I began to comprehend what she had just said. "What do you mean, 'passed'?"

Taylor rolled her eyes at me and flicked me on the forehead.

"Hey!"

"Baby," she teased.

Deciding to have some fun, I leaned down and smirked. "Your baby." The familiar red blush was back and I chuckled as she slapped me.
