A/N:Okay, this is more of a filler. I just really wanted to write this.
Taylor's POV
After the embarrassing encounter with Grayson, I fled the room, seeking shelter downstairs. As soon as I came down, everyone gave me knowing looks and smirks.
"Oh, what are you staring at?" I snapped. They shook their heads and turned away. Striding to the kitchen, I cut myself a piece of cake for myself and sat at the table to eat it. Cake is good. Cake is great. Cake's the best. I love cake. One day, I'll get a cat and name it Cookie. Being the greedy person I am, I ate three pieces before Archer ran in, seeming out of breath.
"I...smelled...cake," he wheezed, staring at me. I held up the plate and fork. With a deadly serious expression etched on his young face, he demanded me to give him some. I chuckled and cut him a large piece.
"What's going on here?" Jason exclaimed, glaring at the both of us. "That cake was supposed to be for later! And we were all supposed to be here and sing Taylor "Happy Birthday" and then she'd blow out the candles and then we'd eat it."
Archer stepped in front of me. Turning his head, he whispered, "I'll hold him off, you run! Happy birthday, Taylor!" Jason's eyes widened at his little brother's declaration. He scoffed, staring down at the small boy--who only came up to Jason's waist.
"Yeah, right," he laughed. "You hold me o--" Jason never finished that sentence. With a battle cry loud enough to make me clap my hands over my ears, Archer launched his tiny body at Jason and tackled him to the floor. I openly gaped as I watched Archer pin him to the ground.
"Go, Taylor!" Archer shouted, his adorable face a mask of concentration. Jason's face was pressed to the kitchen floor and Archer had somehow managed to hold Jason's arms behind his back. Muffled swear words were heard as Jason struggled to get up. Instead of running like Archer had told me to, I stood, frozen, watching the two Stone boys. After about five minutes of futile attempts to stand, Jason huffed and laid there, motionless. Archer twisted and just sat criss-cross-applesauce on his back.
"Taylor," Archer spoke to me, his bright, green eyes wide. "Why didn't you run? I was protecting you from Jason!"
"What?" I snickered. "And miss the best thing I've ever seen? No way!" Grayson chose this moment to enter and stared down at his Beta, then to the small boy sitting on him. He looked like he had just come out of the shower, his light hair a darker color due to the water, and his clothes clung to him like a second skin. I shamelessly ran my eyes over him, drinking him in.
Shameless, my wolf taunted.
Undaunted by her teasing, I raised my head. It'd be a damn near crime if I didn't stare at my mate, looking as delicious as he did -
"Do I want to know?" Grayson softly asked, his eyes glued to Jason.
"Shuhup an get his ki off uf me! (Shut up and get this kid off of me!)" Was Jason's exasperated reply.
"I'll do you one better, Jay," Grayson smiled. He turned his head to Archer--who was now eating cake on top of his older brother--and grinned at him. "Archer! How would you like to be the new Beta of the Silver Woods pack?" [A/N: "Silver Woods" is the name of the pack when Grayson and Taylor combined.]
Archer chewed his cake thoughtfully, strands of his red hair falling across his eyes. "Hmm, nah." He stood up and left the kitchen.
"Traitors, the whole lot of you," Jason grumbled as he got up, dusting himself off.
"Jason, he's five."
"And half your size."
"So? That kid is a trained assassin!" Jason exclaimed, throwing his hands up in the air. I lifted a brow and crossed my arms. "Okay, a trained ninja." Grayson frowned and raised an eyebrow also. "Okay, so he's a kindergartner! Big whoop!" Jason stomped out of the kitchen, pouting.
"So...," I swung my arms back and forth, bouncing on the balls of my feet. "If the whole Archer-as-Beta thing isn't gonna work out, can I have him as my Beta?"
"Taylor, we have the same pack now."
I nodded my head. "Yeah, I know, but I meant after the rogues, we'll be separating."
"What? What are you talking about?" Grayson asked, bewildered. His dark blue eyes were focused on mine, an intense heat in them.
"Well," I stopped swinging my arms and bouncing. "This marriage thing was to combine our packs, right? After defeating the rogues, we'll be separating our packs again, right?"
"But we're mates."
"And?" I shot back, not liking his tone.
"And," he snapped. "Our packs will stay bound."
"What makes you think I agree with that?" I stepped towards him, challenge evident in my words.
"What makes you think I'd let you go?" He stepped forward also. I felt my eyes darken and I noted that his eyes were darker than usual as well.
"Considering the fact that I'm now eighteen I'm the new Alpha of the Silver Moon pack, so I'm making the decisions," I snarled at him.
Grayson bristled. "You're not leaving. You may divide the packs, but you are now the Midnight Woods' Luna, whether you like it or not." His voice was not loud, but it rang with power and authority, a deadly kind of calm.
"No, I'm the Silver Moon's Alpha," I narrowed my eyes at him. Grayson growled at came closer, our chests touching and his face was inches from mine.
Due to the proximity, I felt his warm, minty breath fan across my face as he uttered, "No."
~Author's Note~
This was supposed to be a surprise chapter, a gift for my late update and it was gonna be longer, but...then I read the comments for the last chapter...do you guys really think this book is crap? I mean, I know that, but the fact that some of you openly expressed it with such harsh words...it hurts.
:/ Anyway, thanks. Dedicated to FlowerRamirez, she's super encouraging and your last comment made me smile. :) Thank you!
By the way, there's a new chapter before this if you guys didn't know..I posted this literally a day after I posted "STUFF".
