,,Oh Diana, it was so embarrassing!" Anne groaned the next morning when they were on their way to school.

,,What happened?" Diana asked.

,,We were on an adventure, we went by the river to look for some wonderful interesting places and at first, everything was good and we were both enjoying it," she skipped the part with her realization about liking him, and she didn't even know why. Of course, she trusted her bosom friend but somehow couldn't make her mouth say it.

,,But then, on our way back to Avonlea, we saw an old bridge and i had the greatest idea- step on it and go all the way to the half. But it cracked and i fell into the water and the flow was so strong and you know i can't swim. Gilbert jumped into the water too and saved me, as you can see i am here... And then, when we were securely on the land, i hugged him and thanked him..." 

So she is finally nice and thankful to him and they even hugged!  Diana thought with a smirk.

She knew about their adventures, as Anne was spending her time either with Diana or Gilbert, but Anne didn't tell her much about the happy parts, mostly only about the hurtful things she's said to him, so Diana wasn't sure if she's been a loving friend or not.

,,But then we let go a little bit, but we were still holding each other and then he suddenly leaned in... and i think he was about to kiss me..." Anne nervously played with her hands.

Diana gasped and squealed and excitedly asked: ,,What's wrong about that?"

,,N-nothing... i-i guess i wanted to kiss him too..." Anne quieted her voice a little bit, as she looked at her feet. There was a silence for a second, as Diana was processing the girl's words.

She gasped.

,,Do you have a crush on Gilbert?!" Diana's smile grew wider, as she looked at Anne.

,,What? No i don't!"

,,Anne, don't lie to me..." Diana teasingly raised her eyebrow.

,,I..." she sighed.

,,I do, Diana... I have a crush on Gilbert Blythe," she announced.

Diana squealed again and clapped her hands, as she was so happy for her friend.

,, Wait but... what's the embarrassing part?" she asked, visibly confused.

,,I flinched, Diana... I turned around a made him stop..."

,,YOU DID WHAT?!" she yelled and turned at the redhead. Anne flinched a little bit, as she gave Diana a look, but a smile still appeared on her face. ,,But why?" Diana continued.

,,I couldn't kiss him back, could i?"

,,What? Why couldn't you? You know he loves you and if you love him too, then..."

,,I couldn't do that to Ruby!" Anne cried and turned at Diana, as she stopped walking.

Diana stared at her, her eyebrows raised and mouth opened, trying to understand and process what was Anne saying, and her actions.

,,What about Ruby?" she asked and her eyebrows furrowed.

,,What do you mean 'what about Ruby'?" Anne asked confused as well.

,,Anne... Ruby doesn't like Gilbert since the Summer festivities..." Diana said, realizing Anne wasn't there when she told them, and after that, they didn't talk about boys, but even when they did, Ruby felt awkward when saying Moody's name as he could've heard her, so she didn't. Oh no...

,,WHAT?!" Anne snapped, her jaw dropping.

,,She has a crush on Moody now..."

,,WHAT AGAIN?"
