To say that I wasn't nervous was the biggest lie of the year and to say that I was nervous was the biggest understatement of the year. One might be probably guess the gravity of my nervousness. From a scale of 1-10, I would be 11.
"Can't I atleast give them flowers? Please." I tried my best to look cute.
He was looking at me and the road back and forth. He also failed in preventing his laugh because certainly, he probably thought that I looked funny and not cute. Napasimangot tuloy ako.
"Bakit kasi ngayon mo lang sinabi? I should have prepared myself."
Please." I put my puppy-est smile para payagan niya na akong bumili ng flowers for his parents. I want them to like me from the heaven.
"Alright. Okay. May malapit na flower shop dito. Let's just park and we'll go there."
That made me a little less nervous.
I settled for lavender tulips. It's simple and yet, it felt elegant. Nakita ko ito sa kanyang wallet, with his permission of course. Her mother was truly a Filipina beauty. She looked like she will pass for a beauty queen during her time. She was so beautiful and so elegant looking.
I paid for the seller to arrange it in a beautiful bouquet. Fortunately, mukhang skilled na skilled siya in flower arrangements that it made the tulips popped. I paid for the amount then thanked her.
Apparently, Joachin knew na palabas na ako ng shop so instead of me going to him, he went to me.
"How did you know my mother's favorite flower?" His eyes were twinkling under the sunlight.
I held up the bouquet, "Really? Are they? I love them the moment I saw them." I smiled sweetly at him.
Lumapit siya sakin and put his arm on my waist and kissed the side of my head.
"I just think you already have my mom's blessings." That made me feel a lot better.
Nakarating kami sa isang mausoleum. Pagpasok ko sa loob, I was greeted by a huge family photo at the center. It was Joachin when he was a kid.
Joachin resembled his father so much na parang I was seeing the same person.
In front of us were two cemented tombs that were covered with marble stones. The left one says Janus Roel Santiago while the right one says Roxanne Amelie Santiago.
"Ma and pa." Joachin greeted them enthusiastically and lighted the candles above their tombs.
"Hi po Mr and Mrs Santiago." I heard Joachin chuckled beside me.
I arranged the tulips on the empty vase located in the middle of their tombs.
"You can call them dad and mom, you know?" Umupo si Joachin sa floor and then he grabbed my hand and pulled to sit beside him.
