What Didn't (Aaron Burr x Reader)

Soon before you knew it,

years went and passed with you unsuccessfully catching the heart of the man you swore to marry.

That instead was caught by a woman named Theodosia Bartow Prevost, a woman of sweet personality and lovely smile. Finding out about it left you weak and it was then that you started to compare yourself to the said woman and coming to the conclusion that you can't compete with her. With these knowledge most people would give up. But you didn't, instead you let the years pass you by as a maiden who never had the interest to marry, in by standers eyes that is. What they didn't know is that you strongly desire a husband and a family of your own.

Only if it was with the man you love, you did try to love again but it all failed with you desiring only

one man.

A man who's married, a man who just now had a child named after his gorgeous wife. You should've moved on, you tried. But whatever you did, your heart never budged from the hands of the unknowing married man. It was so pitiful that you, yourself feel bad. Still, you loved him standing by his side but as a friend who supported him all through his decisions. As a friend who took care of his lovely wife and child every time he was away.

You became the friend of someone you wanted to be.

So when the time came of her goodbye, you were surprised as she made you promise. Promise to take care of her child and husband. Promise to never give up. When have you ever given up anyway, you have always loved him.

And that she knew.

It was ironic, how fate played your life and hers. You didn't want to think that this was the chance you never had when pursuing Burr. But still you promised, holding on to her as the love of your life hurriedly comes to the side of his dying love. You let go, watching the heartbreaking scene as she gave you a comforting smile. You knew she was dying, everyone in that room knew. There was no warning, you watch her close her eyes. It made you think that maybe she took her last breath.

She did.
