~But if I sit in the rain, maybe I can drown in something other than my own thoughts.

The sun beamed through the sheer blinds, I rolled over so my back was facing the window. I tried falling back asleep until Mark knocked. I suppressed a sigh so that I didn't come off as rude, "Come in," I cringed at how crackly my voice sounded. Mark opened the door slowly, Chica came in with him. She jumped on my bed and laid down across on the white comforter on my lap. I smiled at her and pet her soft head. Mark sat on the edge of the bed and started petting Chica as well before he spoke.

"I heard you last night, are you okay?" I wanted to tell him about my mental health issues, but I couldn't piece the words together. I nodded.

"Yeah, I guess. Everything is just getting to me. I'll be fine."

"Do you want to visit your parents today?" Truth was, all I wanted to do was be with them. But I can barely get out of bed to go to the bathroom. I don't have the energy.

"Not today, tomorrow after school, though? It's finals week so we're getting released early." He glanced up at my phone that lit up from a notification, but he didn't pay attention to it other than the time. "What school do you go to? I'll bring you and pick you up."

"Lake View,"

"Alright, do you want anything for breakfast?" The thought of food right now made me nauseous, I know I'm in a depressive episode and when that happens I barely eat, if at all.

"I can't eat right now, I kinda just want to go back to sleep if that's okay." Mark squeezed my hand. He looks like he also just woke up not too long ago. He wore black sweatpants with a pink mustache pattern on it and a matching shirt, I made a mental note to ask him about it later.

"Let me know if you need anything, okay Karli?"

"Mk, thank you," He scratched Chica's head and left the room, quietly shutting the door.

After checking my phone and seeing that Luke didn't even bother apologizing, I closed my eyes again.

Marked knocked on my door once again.

"Yeah?" I croaked out. He stepped into my room, giving me a look before dragging my comfy, warm covers off of me.

"Hey! What is that for?"

"I understand your pain, but I am not letting you sleep it away. It's noon, come on, Karli get up." Mark gave me a sad puppy look that made me give in. If he was anyone else other than a kind soul who's taking care of me, I'd rudely chuck a pillow at his face, but I didn't.

"Fine, get out so I can change." He ruffled my hair and left the room, Chica following his footsteps.

I shut the door because Mark forgot to, then went to the bathroom to brush my teeth, hair, and put on deodorant then I got dressed into some leggings and a cropped hoodie since I doubt we're going anywhere.

I slowly walked down the stairs, feeling a deep pain with every step I took. God, I feel so lethargic, couldn't Mark have just let me sleep?

"Hey, Karli!" He said in his stupid cheerful, stupid radio host, stupid voice.

I slumped into the couch and laid down, the white soft fabric gave me comfort. "Hey,"

Mark mimicked my pattern and put his feet on my stomach, the bare stench right towards my nose.
