"Your posters of Appa look great, Sokka." you complimented. "Thanks, Y/N. I'm glad to see that someone," he glared pointedly at your friends. "appreciated my artistic skills." you laughed, running your fingers through Toph's hair as you started to style it.  "I wouldn't go that far, but okay."

"What's Lake Laogai? Sounds like some weird-" Joo Dee cut you off with a creepy smile, making you stop in your tracks. "It's very fun. I would recommend it." Aang snapped, yelling at the guide and slamming the door in her face. "Is it just me, or does she seem brainwashed? Like, no normal person acts like that. It's kinda scary, actually."

You stifled a giggle at Toph's words. "Toph, just go with Sokka." you walked off, putting posters up wherever you could reach. "Hey." a voice said from behind you. Just a random guy. They're probably not even talking to you. "Can I help, princess?" you froze. I know that voice.

"This is a joke. This is a joke." you whispered, ignoring the voice. The familiar person touched your shoulder, and that's when you attacked. "No!" you shouted, sending them crashing back with waves of water from a nearby fountain.

Jet slammed into the wall, groaning. "Y/N, I've changed-" you held an icicle to his neck, pinning him to the rock. "It's Jia now. What do you want, you asshole?" he coughed, but your grip only got tighter. "I want to help!"

"Y/N, what's the problem?" you pushed Jet's head into the wall, making his face known to your friends behind you. "Can't you see, you idiots? Jet's back."

"He's telling the truth." you snorted. "No, he's not. Even with your proof, Toph, that's what he believes. He believes he's telling the truth, and your method can't disprove what he thinks is correct. He's been brainwashed, or worse."

"Whaletail Island? Bullshit. If he left yesterday, he should still be in Ba Sing Se, or the Earth Kingdom at least." you chimed in, amused by the situation. It wasn't funny, but you were still getting a kick out of it. "We have to go!" you stepped in front of Aang, holding him back from Sokka's map. "No. It's probably a lie, we need to continue to search this city."

"They can't both be telling the truth. Something's been done to Jet, probably by the Dai Li. Shame, the organization wasn't supposed to end up like this." Katara stared at you, incredulous at your words. "Shame? Shame is all you have to say?"

"Yeah. Might I remind you, these people tried to wipe out an entire village. An entire village. Even if you've "changed", you still attempted murder, and you deserve none of our pity. It disgusts me that we live in the same city as you."

"Y/N, that's a little-"

"Jia."

"What?"

"Call me Jia when we're in public. We might be in Ba Sing Se, but we still aren't safe. Y/N is one of the rarest names out there, I'll be recognized easily. So call me Jia."

You winced, taking Jet's hand in your own. "You're an asshole, but my country has harmed you deeply. You need some comfort, especially if you're going to relive your old memories." he closed his eyes, and Katara placed water over his ears as he started to go back into his dream state. "Be safe, Jet." you murmured as he and your friends started to decode his memories.

"No. Guys, I go in first. If I'm not back in fifteen minutes with Appa, then, and only then can you guys come in. If I find that you've entered before fifteen minutes, I will not hesitate to knock you out."

"But what about Zuko and Azula?"

"They have the blood of warriors. They'll be fine." you hopped into the tunnel, starting to walk. "Goodbye, guys. I hope that I can leave this place alive."

You wandered the halls, trying to find the room where Appa would be held. You heard weird chants coming from behind closed doors, but you didn't stick around to decipher them. You kept moving, trying to find the bison.

"Uncle!" a voice shouted, and you picked up your pace. Fuck. Zuko's here. Find him, then find Appa. You found him and your uncle arguing with a distressed Appa in the background. They hadn't spotted you yet, so you stayed behind the door to listen to their conversation.

When you decided you had enough, you entered the room, shooting lightning by Zuko's feet. He jumped, letting out a shout. "Y/N! I knew it was you!" he accused, and Appa roared happily. "What do you require Appa for, Prince Zuko?" as if on instinct, your mannerisms from back at the palace came back, masking your intentions.

"He'll bring me to the Avatar. I'll restore my honor." you rolled your eyes, making sure your uncle and brother couldn't see. "Ah, well. I see. Prince Zuko, the Avatar isn't in Ba Sing Se. It's only me. I'm sorry, please forgive me for not knowing the Avatar's whereabouts."

"No. Leave, before I fight you." you grit your teeth. "Please, I beg of you. Do not. I need Appa, he can help the Avatar reach his goals." Zuko shot a blast of fire at you, and you dodged, landing harshly on your side. "Prince Zuko, I'm begging you to see my side. The Avatar will-"

"You traitor!" he screamed, descending on you with flame in his palm. You braced yourself for the impact, only for it not to come. You opened one of your clenched eyes, seeing Uncle Iroh retraining your brother. You let out a sigh of relief as your uncle started to reason with your brother, making him see your side.

Iroh spoke about destiny and creating your own as you melted off Appa's cuffs, making sure he didn't see the fire in your hand. "Shh, buddy. We're going to get you back to Aang, and we'll fulfill our mission. Okay, boy? Yeah, that's a good boy." you nuzzled into his fur.

"Take him." Zuko growled. Without missing a beat, you bowed. "Thank you very much for your extreme kindness, Prince Zuko. I will owe you in the future." he looked away, his arms crossed. "Let's go, Appa." you led him out of the room.

"Wait!" Iroh called, and you turned to look at him. "I hope to see you again soon, Princess Y/N." you nodded, continuing on your way. "That was your uncle, my little loves." of course, your son and daughter were asleep. I don't remember being this sleepy when I was that age. Wait. I don't remember anything from that age. You laughed at yourself, tucking yourself deeper into Appa's fur as he walked.

"Guys! We're here!" Appa flew down, and you embraced Katara. "Where's Jet?" her face fell. "We'll talk later, okay? For now, let's just be glad that we found Appa." you made a noise of agreement, turning to Aang, who was crying into Appa.

"Thank you, Y/N."
