"No, it can't be." you gasped. "I knew this was going to happen. My father is a coward." you snarled. Hakoda, Katara, Sokka, Aang and Toph started to work out the details. "Y/N, where do you wanna go?"

"I'll stay with Katara and Hakoda. I'm useless, even with my other bending." your friends took off, and you helped Katara hold Hakoda up. "Let's go. Hakoda, Katara and I can protect you." you pulled out your fan. Mom, if you want to help me, lend me your airbending abilities. Just for this.

"Move!" Hakoda commanded, and everyone started to advance. "Guys, I'm going to go join Haru and his troop. I'll see you all later." you ran towards Haru's tank, climbing into it. "I'm here to help. I might be powerless, but I'm useful."

"Y/N," Haru whispered. "do you think we'll make it out of here alive?" you nodded. "Of course we will. The Fire Nation is pathetic, the only people willing to kill here are my sister and my father, and they're powerless. In fact, I can bet you that everyone here will make it out with minimal injuries."

"Everyone out! We need to surround the periphery!" your troop started to move through the streets, but everything was empty. "What the fuck?" just in case, you put your fan away and got out a dagger and your eye dye. You would kill if provoked, but the best thing you could do to immobilize opponents in a one-on-one would be to get the dye in their eyes.

"Stop! Surrender peacefully and we won't harm you!" Tyro announced. "No way!" a soldier tried to firebend, but you were already pressing your dagger to his neck, drawing a little blood. "Take it from your princess, us firebenders are useless. Now, surrender, before I kill you." he gulped, throwing his hands up.

"We surrender!" you smirked, kicking the back of his knees, making him drop to the ground. "You're lucky that I'm not Azula. I'll spare you, but the next time any of you are in my way," you waved your knife around, joining Haru and his troop. "I won't hesitate to kill you."

"Yes!"

"I'm your princess. Treat me with respect, or it'll be my father killing you."

"You're not the princess!" one accused, and you noticed the fear and hesitation in her eyes. "You guys, move on. I'll take care of this." you promised. "Y/N, don't kill. You'll regret it." you laughed a bitter laugh, one that was more to intimidate others than to express happiness.

"I won't."

"Mercy, princess! Please!" you giggled, all of your animosity dissipating when your troop left the scene. "I know. Come, sit with me. I'll tell you a story."

With a couple gestures, the soldiers gathered around you in a circle. You started to talk to them about your plans, explaining why your side would win and why they should join. The eclipse was going to end soon, so you had to act fast. "Think about your honor. It will be lost when you lose, and you don't want that, right?"

"But we have to serve our nation! You of all people should understand that!" one soldier, Maya, protested. "You're serving a tyrant. I can see your inner turmoil, and I can see that you're at a crossroads. Pick the right side." you urged. "I won't force you, but since the eclipse is up, you're bound to attack me. I'd reckon that we have another minute. So, guys,"

"What'll it be?"

"I'll join." Maya said. Soon, everyone else wanted to join. "Okay. Here's the plan. I don't take you with me, but when the time comes, we meet up again. Don't draw suspicion, I'll reach out to you when I need you next. You'll be celebrated in history for your great deeds. I must go. Goodbye." you ran off, trying to find your friends.

You joined your friends again, coming to stand by Katara and Hakoda. "I've recruited a couple people. Fire Nation soldiers. We have people on the inside." you watched, fear becoming the only emotion you felt as you saw Fire Nation war balloons came flying out of the horizon.

"I should've known. I'm sorry, guys. This is all my fault." you were ashamed of yourself. This was your fault, all you did was ruin everything! "Don't say that. We had no way of knowing that Azula knew." Katara placed her hand on your shoulder, and you cried into your hands.

"No. Hakoda, Tyro, Bato," you addressed the men you were familiar with. "I have men on the inside. I'll send letters to them, they'll watch over you and treat you kindly. And when the time comes, they'll help us break you out. Okay?"

"Thank you, Y/N." you nodded. "Y/N!" a woman yelled. "I have your children! Take them, and get out of here!" the woman handed you your children, who were chanting 'buck' over and over again.

You mounted Appa, using your scarf to cover the happy faces of your children. "Mama? Mama!" Zuko squealed. "Hush, my loves. This is a battle scene, we're lucky to be alive." Haru sat next to you, and you pressed into him, using his warmth to fill the hole in your heart that being defeated created.
