Chapter 2. Carnage Part 1

Start from the beginning

Andrew chuckled while picking up my award from the floor. He then added while examining it, "I hope that you succeeded in accumulating a lot of clients for the company with your amazing business tactics, Zach. A flashy award like this doesn't mean anything to the company." I shook my head then asked Andrew, "How could you ruin everything, Andrew. Is that lazy piece of shit that important to you?" Andrew frowned at me, then responded to me with, "Who said that I ruined anything, Zach? My life has just gotten better. I can live freely with Stephen now that you know the truth."

"What are you talking about, Andrew?" I asked my vile lover. Andrew burst out laughing suddenly then answered my question with, "I want you out of my life because I love Stephen now. Stephen and I have been together for a year. I admit that it started as a fling first, but we gradually fell in love with each other. I'm planning to run the company with him from now on. I need you to step down from your position because he's going to be the next C.E.O. of the company. And don't think that we will fail. I have learned enough things from you to keep the company running." I chuckled menacingly then uttered, "Over my dead body, Andrew. I created this company. It was mine, to begin with, and it will stay mine." I had lost all my strength, but I wasn't going to let Andrew know how much he had hurt me. The life that I had created for us was no more. Andrew had destroyed it for a piece of ass. I was just trying to salvage what I could.

I frowned when I heard Stephen say, "Tell him who's the sole owner of the Arrakasta company now, Andrew." The earth beneath my feet crumbled when I heard Andrew ask me, "Have you forgotten that you made me a co-owner, Zach?" Andrew chuckled, seeing my reaction, then added, "I used my connections to take you out of the contract. I'm the sole owner of the company now." "No, this can't be true," I thought to myself and ran down the stairs. I grabbed my car key, then drove straight to my company. I had to find the original papers before Andrew tempered with it.

People looked startled at me when they saw me running into the building. Some of them even looked in sorrow at me. I took the elevator to the top floor and went straight to my office. I took a step back when I couldn't open the door of my office. My whole body started trembling when I read "Stephen Joyce, C.E.O" on my office door. My assistant suddenly walked up to me and said, "We only noticed this change this morning, sir. It seems like Mr. Waltz did it himself."

A security guard then suddenly approached me. He put his hand on my shoulder then uttered, "The boss just asked us to escort you out of the building, sir. He said that you're trespassing." I slowly turned around to face my assistant then said to her while grabbing her hand, "Can you please find a copy of the original contract that Andrew and I had signed when I created this company, Della. I'll be waiting outside for you."

I looked one last time at my office then took the elevator to the ground floor. My phone started ringing the moment I walked out of the building. I answered my phone without looking at the caller id. I groaned when I heard Andrew say, "There is a truck with all your stuff in front of the building. I was already planning to dump you when you came back this time. Take everything with you, and make sure that I don't see you again." I looked around and saw two men standing in front of a truck. The men waved at me when they noticed me.

It seemed like I was too calm for Andrew's liking. He probably thought that I would beg him to take me back. It looked like he had forgotten that I never cried over spilled milk. I frowned when I heard Andrew ask me, "Don't you want to know why I betrayed you, Zach?" I put my hand on my aching chest then responded to Andrew with, "No, I don't. I have learned early on in life that when one door closes, another one opens." Andrew growled loudly then yelled, "See, this is, exactly why I despise you. You think that you are better than everyone. Well, let me tell you something today, Zach. I hated every time you made love to me. You are like a stone with no emotions. You expect people to read your mind, and to understand your feelings without sharing a word with them. You made me feel like an idiot every time I talked to you. I'm glad that I got rid of you because you were draining the life out of me."

I cursed myself for loving a selfish man like Andrew. The only thing that I could say to Andrew before cutting off the phone call was, "It's clear that you don't know me, Andrew. If you had tried to understand me, then you would have known how caring and loving I am. I always put you first in my life. I hate myself for wasting ten years of my life on a selfish prick like you. I should have known that you were only capable of loving my wealth and yourself. You don't deserve someone like me, so fuck off. Oh, and keep in mind that I'll be coming for you. It might not be today or tomorrow, but I will come to take back what's mine."

Della tapped on my shoulder to get my attention the moment I turned off my phone. She looked in sorrow at me then uttered while handing me the contract, "It seems like you were late, sir. Mr. Waltz has already replaced the original contract with this one." I nodded at Della then walked in a daze towards the truck. I kept thinking about how my biological parents had abandoned me. And how I had now been, deceived by the one who I had loved dearly.

"Maybe I wasn't born to be loved," I thought to myself. Tears started rolling down my cheeks when I realized that I was, destined to die alone. I suddenly felt dizzy. My whole body froze when I saw that Andrew had destroyed my awards. He had just thrown them without care into a cardboard box. They were all shattered now. I turned on my phone, then quickly checked my accounts to see if Andrew had taken my money. I fell on my knees when I got a notification saying that I wasn't allowed to log in. "This is what you get for having joint accounts," I thought to myself while hyperventilating.

I had nowhere to go. I only had a few hundred dollars in my wallet. I would only be able to rent a motel room for a few days with the money that I had. I wiped my tears away then tried to get up. I lost my balance and fell on the pavement again. I suddenly felt exhausted, and my whole body trembled in pain. It felt like someone was banging on my head with a hammer. "I guess all those years of tiring myself out has finally caught up with me," I said to myself, then fell unconscious.

I realized that I was in a hospital room when I opened my eyes. I tried to move my arms and legs, but I couldn't. I groaned when I heard the doctor say, "You suffered a nervous breakdown, Mr. Joseph. I'm glad that you are awake now. You have been in a comatose state for two weeks. It seems like you can't move your arms and legs due to stress. We can't do anything for you at this hospital anymore. We are moving you to our mental hospital. We have experienced psychiatrists there who can help you recover. Get well soon."

The doctor walked out of the room before I could reply to him. It seemed like the doctor was doing his round when I woke up. A nurse then walked into the room with a bag in her hands. She smiled broadly at me, then uttered: "Zavier will be quite happy when he finds out that you are awake, Mr. Joseph." I looked in surprise at the nurse then asked her, "How did you guys get his number?" My throat was dry, so the nurse helped me drink. She then answered my question with, "We examined your phone and noticed that Zavier Jared and Andrew Waltz were the only people who you regularly contacted. We called Andrew to notify him about your health, but he denied helping you. We contacted Zavier after that, and he flew immediately to Chicago. He paid your medical bills and told us to contact him as soon as you were awake."

I sighed while staring out of the window. I didn't want to bother Zavier with petty things. He had a busy life too. I forced myself to turn around then said to the nurse, "Don't contact Zavier yet. I don't want him to pity me. I'll contact him when I can walk again." The nurse chuckled while putting a pillow behind me to support my back. I smiled when I heard her say, "Alright, Mr. Joseph. I won't contact him. I don't want to ruin your recovery by stressing you out. I bet that Zavier can't wait to find out what caused a gorgeous guy like you to have a nervous breakdown. It would be best if we avoided confrontations for now." I groaned when I felt the adult diaper that I was wearing. The diaper was uncomfortable. I made a promise to myself that I would do my best to recover as soon as possible just, so I could avoid wearing them.
