After watching, the osprey flew to Mexico to drop you off.
"Told you he was going to be okay," Madison smiled at you. You responded with a quiet chuckle, "Thanks, Madison... I'm sorry about your mother..."
"She did it to lift the storm," Madison murmured solemnly.
The osprey stopped moving, for it had landed.
"We're here," Ilene proclaimed. "I guess this is farewell," You told Madison, resting your hand on her shoulder, "Goodbye."
Madison watched you go as you stood from the seat and walked to the now opening door, carrying your (F/C) bag on one shoulder. "Goodbye, (Y/N) (L/N)," Mark said, causing you to turn around. You both waved at one another, "Thank you for accompanying us during Boston."
You nodded at him, and turned back around, continuing towards the door. But a voice stopped you.
"Wait."
You turned to see Madison standing up from her seat. "Dad?" The brown-haired girl asked her father, "Can I stay with (Y/N) for a bit longer?"
You looked at Madison, completely dumbfounded. "Well..." Mark pondered, "Everyone needs to go back to the base, but I suppose you can. Say... I'll stay with you two, we'll just take another flight out of here later."
"Are you sure about this, Mark?" The white-haired man with glasses asked him. Mark nodded to him, "Yes, Dr. Rick. Come on, now. Let's go."
The three of you left the osprey as the door closed behind you and took off. Madison smiled at you, but all you could do was let your jaw hang open. "Wow," You inhaled, "Really?"
"Yeah," Madison shrugged. "Huh," You smiled, "You're the greatest friend I could ever have, Maddy."
***
You and Madison walked side-by-side, accompanied by Mark, through the recovering town of Costa Rica. "Hey, you two," Mark called you and Madison, "Hungry?"
"Hungry as a starving lion!" Madison called back. "What should I get you both?" He asked. "Hm..." You and Madison looked at each other, then both said, "Ice cream?"
"Alright, let's go."
You both followed Mark to a nearby icecream stand. He ordered ice cream of your and Madison's favorite flavors and bought one for himself because why not. The three of you enjoyed your icecream while walking.
"Hey, you two," Mark called you both as soon as you both finished your ice cream. "(Y/N), I need to find your family, you both can go walk around. But don't go far."
You frowned hearing the mention of your wusses of a family. "Man," You sighed, "Alright then..."
"Well, you two oughtta make the most of it," Mark told you, "Go now, I'll find them."
You and Madison nodded, walking away. "I just realized," You turned to Madison as soon as a thought came into your head, "Do you have an email?"
"Oh, right," Madison snapped her fingers, "We could contact each other!"
You and Madison shared each other's emails to one another as you walked.
"Nice," You beamed proudly. "Now we can talk whenever we want to, well, that is, if my parents don't catch me."
"Mhm," Madison smiled back, holding up her hand. You slapped your hand into hers, high-fiving her. You and Madison kept walking around, then came across a large pile of debris where a probably large building once stood.
"Wow," You huffed, watching some soldiers picking through the junk for survivors. Suddenly, a large object swooped down from the heavens. "MOVE!" One of the soldiers signalled loudly, causing everyone else to stumble off the pile of debris. The humongous creature landed on top of it. You and Madison braced yourselves from the wind it sent blowing. Then, you looked up at it, realizing what it had been this entire time.
"Rodan?"
Rodan squawked, looking down on you and Madison. Madison, knowing your friendship with Rodan, was calm, unlike the people around you. You approached Rodan calmly as he lowered his head down to meet you. The nearby people watched in awe and confusion as you rested your hand on his beak.
"Hey, buddy," You whispered to him, "how are you doing?"
Rodan lifted his head up, then turned to the wound on his shoulder that Mothra gave him. "Does it hurt?" You asked him. He gave a soft squawk and curled up one wing, you heard him wince. "But you can still fly," You reminded him, "Right?"
Rodan gave a small nod.
You looked at the open volcano that awaited the Fire Demon's arrival, its lava pouring out unspeakably. "You can rest now, Rodan," You told him, turning back to the large pteranodon. He gave you one last momentary look, then beat his wings, lifting him from the ground as he flew back to his volcano.
The nearby people stared at you in confusion. "Come on, (Y/N)," Madison placed her hand on your shoulder, startling you a bit. "Let's go before you, uhh... raise a couple of questions."
You nodded in agreement, turning around and following Madison back the way you came. Along the way, you watched Rodan landing on top of the volcano's crater, roaring regally. Then, after his dominance and greatness was once again displayed, he crawled into the volcano, sealing off the dripping lava.
We'll meet again someday, you silently proclaimed, have a good rest.
