The princess stared at the doorway in which she knew JJ was standing outside of. Her glances went unnoticed at the dinner table thankfully. After all, everything was about her parents right now... And Y/N didn't mind that one bit.

Everyone was asking them questions and keeping them in their attention. This caused her thoughts to roam... Of course, they were roaming to JJ. I mean have you seen him? His soft hair that laid messily atop his head or those piercing blue eyes that she could get trapped in or how about how manly he looked in his-

"Y/N we were asking you a question," Her father explained, causing the princess to suddenly cause his daughter to get knocked out of her trance.

Sarah was laughing at her sister and sending her glances as she knew the older girl so well... Well enough to know what she had been thinking about. Everyone else was oblivious and wondering what was wrong with the princess.

"Pardon?"

"Everyone is wondering if you're excited for your birthday," Her mother explained glancing at her daughter as if asking if she was alright.

Y/N nodded through a smile. "I am very excited... Though I am more excited to hear that there is supposed to be a shooting star tonight- That's actually what I was thinking about," Though it wasn't fully a lie she was very excited about the shooting star that night but more excited that she had been the one to finally plan another thing with JJ instead of him planning all of their dates.

Y/N's eyes locked with her sister's as they both burst out laughing. Everyone glanced at them confused as the princess knew all the people at this table... People she barely knew cousins and friends were all staring at them.

"Last time there was a shooting star I thought aliens were coming to take us," Sarah giggled, causing laughter to erupt in the room.

Y/N leaned back in her chair, content with the dinner, and glad that it was almost over. After all, you can only eat for so long. After they were finished she went over to her mother and then her father and hugged them both. She made sure that her mother was alright with everything and told her something funny that Peaches did the other day.

The princess was just about to see JJ however she had been stopped. It was none other than Rafe. "Y/N... There you are," It seemed as though he had been running around to find her as the princess spun around as soon as his hand was placed on her shoulder.

They were right outside the dining room doors, where JJ stood. Y/N couldn't help yet glance over Rafes shoulders to see him.

"What is it?"

"I was wondering if you wanted to maybe watch the shooting star together..." It seemed as though it took a lot of courage for him to ask her since his hands were shaking and sweat made way down his forehead.

Y/N cursed herself for not watching to say no to him after he went through all that trouble. She wondered why in the hell he would since they are cousins and are forced to hang out all the time. Though she knew that if she said no it would seem suspicious.

"Yeah... That sounds good I just have to change," She reassured through a small smile as Rafe nodded through a grin.

She watched as JJ's face dropped from over Rafes shoulder as she turned around and walked away.

That's how Y/N ended up outside in the garden watching the many stars in the sky waiting for the one to come... The one that she was supposed to enjoy with her knight. However, instead, here she was alongside her cousin.

Y/N leaned back placing all of her body weight on the palms of her hands as Rafe did the same. They sat close to one another... Seemingly a little close for cousins, at least of the same gender that is.

"I cherish our time together, Y/N," Rafe whispered, turning to glance at her.

The princess avoided his eyes as she plastered on a fake smile. "Me to,"

"It really is beautiful,"

"It is," Y/N knew it the moment that he had said those words that Rafe was about to use the oldest trick in the book. She threw up in her mouth a little.

"I'm talking about you," And suddenly that's when his hand came closer to her leg and she got up.

"I-I... I'm going to go to the bathroom," After those words the princess sprinted away leaving Rafe sitting there dumbfounded.

Though as she was about to sprint into the palace doors JJ was standing there and noticed the tears in his eyes. After glancing to make sure no one was around he embraced her into his arms.

"What's the matter?" He used the pads of his thumbs to wipe her tears away as she quickly connected their foreheads.

"Rafe... He, you know..." It took a second for JJ to register what Y/N had just said as his face formed with rage soon after.

"Dammit, I can't kill him!" He exclaimed causing Y/N to laugh through tears.

"I don't want to go back there,"

"And you shouldn't," He whispered protectively, gripping her waist. "After all... Who wouldn't want you?" This caused Y/N to laugh through tears as she quickly connected their lips.

"I'll just tell him I wasn't feeling well next time I see him... Yeah, that's what I'll do," Y/N smiled as JJ walked her back to her room.

"I guess this is a good time to tell you the good news," The blonde exclaimed through a grin once they were in the castle doors.

"Oh gosh, news?"

"Good news!" He exclaimed through reassurance. "Your father knows that we're friends now so he told me to tell you that you are allowed back into the forest with Peaches tomorrow though with more guards and-" This caused Y/N to leap into JJ's arms through a screech of excitement as he laughed twirling her around.

The only person that happened to be around was John B and boy did her screech scare the living crap out of him. "What's got you so excited? Is this because you finally got to see JJ after daydreaming about him while eating?" This caused the blue-eyed knight to raise an eyebrow in confusion as his friend only laughed. "Sarah told me all about it!"

"Sarah!" Y/N cursed causing both boys to laugh. "Oh, and I wasn't really daydreaming it was_"

"Well, that's not what she told me," And that's when a heard argument began all the way back to her room as JJ got to stay out of this one earning some well-deserved laughs.

Y/N and JJ spent that night cuddling and then suddenly it was the next morning and they were up bright and early ready to ride on their horses through the forest like last time... That had been the time both of them deemed they realized they needed to get together though won't admit it.

"This is where we almost kissed," Y/N whispered through a smirk as JJ pulled her into his arms making sure that no one was around to see them.

"Listen Y/N there is something I have to tell you," He murmured this time no longer being his normal goofy self yet instead nervous.

"You can tell me," She reassured taking a step closer to him so that their faces were inches apart as he stared down at her.

"I.. I-I love you,"
