I slid the glass door to enter the supermarket slash grocery place. The cool air from the air conditioning instantly refreshed my body from the heat outside. I grabbed a cart to start my shopping.
I opened the little pocket on my shoulder bag to get the list of the things i need. I rummaged inside my bag and realized after a few minutes that it's not there. I'm starting to get irritated.
As i was about to get my first item, someone called my name.
" Cheeeese!!! " I turned my head to the direction of the voice and saw a familiar face waving, almost frantically, trying to get my attention. He approached me and said " Uiii, you remember me paba? Si John, yung kanina? Nahulog mo kasi to o" He pulled out a small paper from his pocket.
Excitedly, I said " Ui!!! akin yan! " Thank you! I don't know why, but i suddenly grabbed his hand and pressed it firmly saying thank you to him.
He suddenly blushed, looked away, and said " wala yun, baka kailangan mo yan eh" I smiled in return.
He darted left and right, obviously uncomfortable. it's starting to feel awkward for me as well because we are blocking the way for the other shoppers. As i was about to continue with my grocery shopping, he suddenly said " coffee tayo cheese?"
I smiled and nodded.
" Tulungan na kita mag grocery?" I suddenly start feeling shy since i dont know this guy well and yet here he is, helping me with my errands. And not to mention the little butterflies in my tummy as i look at him. His chinito eyes are just so attractive.
We finished the grocery and he helped me with the bags. We went to a nearby coffee shop. He asked me what i wanted and i sat down. I'm looking at him from afar and he seemed to be so uncomfortable talking to the cashier. I decided to go and see what's wrong.
" Hey, what's up po?" i asked John, slightly touching his arm. He faced me and said " Cheese, pwede pautang? naiwan ko pera ko"
