Finally, it was Saturday and Laura was rejoicing in the fact she could sleep soundly, truly soundly without waking to toss and turn, it was a luxury that had only recently returned to her life. Though this luxury, on this particular day, wasn't going to go as smoothly...
"Boo"
The sudden shout made Laura shoot up her in bed, breath heavy and eyes wide as they searched for the source—Jace. "You asshole" she exclaimed allowing her head to fall back on the pillow as Jace's laugh echoed. As her heart rate steadied she shot back up in the bed again and eyed the boy stood at the foot of it. "How are you in my room?"
"Uh, the window was open a tad" he awkwardly admitted.
Brows knitted as she looked him up and down, "Jace, not gonna lie, that's weird" she laughed.
"I knocked but there was no answer, your mom's car is gone, and the front door is locked"
"Yeah, that usually means go away, not find another entry point" she pointed out the obvious throwing her pillow at him. "What're you doing here anyway?" she groaned tiredly.
He picked up the pillow she had tossed at him and placed it on the end of the bed before speaking. "Well, I was at home last night and got to thinking, you never celebrated your birthday"
Laura raised her eyebrow at him wearily. "So?" Pulling off the covers she put on her sandals and removed the hair tie from her messy bed head.
"It didn't sit right with me. I wanted to maybe do something with the guys for you, but..." he trailed off gesturing to the heavy rain outside. "And aside from that they're all doing stuff today" Laura nodded as she grabbed her brush and began to fix her hair, allowing Jace to continue. "I thought we could do something here, I have stuff in my car. I didn't really wanna try juggle those while getting through the window"
The brunette eyed him again for his creepy entry, "Remind me to lock that window from now on" she muttered, holding the hair tie between her teeth.
"I didn't hear any objections to the make-up birthday celebration, great" Jace smirked as he rubbed his hands together. "I'll go unlock the front door and get the stuff" he exulted as he jogged out of her room.
"J-" Laura stopped herself and shook her head, though as she looked in the mirror she saw that she was smiling slightly. Finishing off her hair she then brushed her teeth and grabbed some clothes to wear, deciding on something comfy since given the weather it was a lazy day.

As she was making her way down the stairs she could smell something, intrigued she quickened her pace. Stepping into the kitchen she saw Jace plating out food, "What's that?"
"I picked us up breakfast at Carver's" he smiled sweetly. "Even though it's almost 2pm" he muttered, hinting teasingly at her laziness, "And if I'm spending the day with you I'd rather not give you candy for breakfast, even on your make up birthday, last thing I need is you wound up on sugar" he teased.
Laura rolled her eyes playfully at him and began to walk towards the kettle, "You want tea?" she asked looking over her shoulder. Surprisingly her eyes landed on Jace holding out a takeaway cup towards her nonchalantly as he worked on getting out the food with his other hand. A grin crept onto her lips as she turned and took the tea from him. "How m-"
"Two" he answered quickly, "I've made you enough tea recently, I know how you like it, two sugars, and not too much milk" he smirked.
Laura smiled and nodded as started walking, "Well, I'll be in the living room" Once in the living room she grabbed the remote and flicked on the tv, seeing a bag on the armchair that she presumed was Jace she crept towards it but as soon as her fingers touched the zip Jace's voice chimed.
"Breakfast is served" he beamed, though as his eyes landed on Laura who spun quickly to face away from the bag he raised his eyebrows, "Whatcha doing there?" he asked with a smirk as he continued further into the room and placed the plates on the coffee table.
"You saw nothing" Laura beamed knowing she'd been caught trying to sneak a peek. Jace chuckled before taking a seat on the couch followed by Laura. The two tucked into the breakfast, engaging in conversation every now and then while also getting to watch some tv.

When they finished breakfast they piled the plates on one another, intending to do them in a little bit, and just sat back on the sofa relaxing and talking when suddenly Jace sat up. "I almost forgot" he said as he pushed himself up from his seat. Walking over to the bag he opened it and grabbed something, pocketing it momentarily until he was back on the couch. "I got you something" he smiled removing the box from his pocket and handing it to her.
"You didn't have to" Laura breathed as she took the box. Upon opening it a smile appeared on her lips, it was a bracelet with, "A moon?" she asked as she took the jewelry from its box.
"A nod to the wolves, we're not exactly bound to a full moon but a moon bracelet was easier to find on short notice than a wolf one" he chuckled, a glimmer in his eye. Chuckling as well she placed down the box and easily slipped on the bracelet. As she examined it on her wrist the smile didn't leave her lips. "I remembered you were also a night owl when we were younger so thought it suited"
"I'm still very much a night owl" she assured him with a giggle.
"I know, out of bed after noon" he taunted the latter in a fake, muffled cough.

More time passed and as evening set in the two ordered some food to be delivered and picked out a movie to watch. When both of those were done with Jace once again went to his bag but this time took out a small chocolate cake he'd gotten, "No candles, but I don't think I could fit 80 on it without having to warn the fire station first" he jeered her with a playful wink.
"Do you want to make it to your birthday wolf-boy? If so you better watch it" she threatened as she stood up from the couch and began to walk to the kitchen with him following. Laura grabbed the plates while Jace opened the box and got out a knife, holding it to her once she'd put the plates down.
"Birthday girl gets to cut the cake"
"This has been the best non-birthday birthday I've had" she nodded. A big smile appeared on Jace's lips. "But I've only had one so you didn't really have any competition" she heckled.
Jace couldn't help but laugh, "Couldn't let me have that one could you"
"Nope" Laura grinned, popping the p as she cut into the cake. She was balancing a slice on the knife about to put it on Jace's plate but paused, "Wait, chocolates bad for dogs" she continued to taunt light-heartedly. Jace pursed his lips and glared at her until she eventually gave him his piece of cake. The two were on route to the living room again, cake in hand, when the front door opened. Susan was home from work and she smiled upon seeing her daughter with Jace once again, and the cake really caught her eye.
"Cake?" she questioned pointing to it.
"There's some in the kitchen if you want a piece" Laura informed her mom before continuing her stroll to the living room with Jace.
"What's the occasion?" her mom asked curiously.
"Making up for Laura avoiding us on her real birthday" Jace explained as the teens took their seats again.

Finally night drew closer and so Jace had to get going. Walking him to the door Laura leaned against the door frame, a happy expression on her face. "Being sincere now, this is the best Saturday I've had in a while"
"I'm glad" Jace smiled casually as if what he'd done was no big deal. "I'll see you tomorrow" he nodded, turning on his heels to leave.
"Wait" Laura halted him as she took a step forward, Jace turned back, and swiftly Laura's arms were around him. "Thank you, for the cake, and the bracelet" she hummed. After a moment they pulled from the hug, but there was a pause, Jace looked away from Laura's eyes and to her lips for a split second; although it had only been a quick glance Laura had noticed it and quickly stepped back before Jace had the chance to potentially do anything. "See you" she ended, rushing back inside and closing the door.

Rosalie, sorry I know I've written to you a lot but I guess when I have something to say about the wolves I think of you. You're own fault for that association to be honest. Anyway, you'll be disgusted to hear I spent another day with Jace. We had a makeup celebration for my birthday, and honestly it was great. If you were wondering, even though I know you're not and nor do you care, Eliza still hasn't forgiven me. Jace tried to explain I wasn't the cause of the breakup, even though I inadvertently was, but regardless she said she won't forgive either of us until she gets a real explanation. She knows something is up, but we can't tell her so I'm down another friend.
