Football Fridays.
Iris loved going to Football games. There wasn't a certain excitement she got from watching the players and screaming until you lost your voice while simultaneously freezing your ass off.
She'd made sure all her work was done so that she had the weekend to herself. Plus, this was James' first game as captain. With Jonthan's accident, he couldn't play so Coach had announced James as the new captain today.
He'd told her when he saw her in the hallway on his way to prep for the game.
"Babe!" he yelled running down the hall.
"No running Mr. Vega! " a teacher yelled.
"My bad," he said switching to a fast walk. He was bursting with energy- it seemed he was going to explode.
Iris was at her locker with her headphones in and hadn't heard him calling her so he walked up to her giving her a backwards hug.
"Whoa," she said smiling. He smelled of peppermint that's how she knew it was James. He must've just showered.
"Hey baby," he said.
"Hi," she said smiling as she turned around,"Wow look at you. You look very happy,"
"Coach named me as the new captain," he said grinning
"What?! No way,"
"Yup. Just told us,"
"What?! Omg, that' s amazing. Congratulations!"
"Thanks," he said smiling.
"Ready for the game tonight?" she asked.
"Honestly? I'm shit nervous but I'll be alright. It's not like it's my first game,"
"True," she said nodding, "You'll do great. I know it. Plus I'll be in the stands cheering you on,"
He grinned leaning down to kiss her. He was about a foot taller than her. It had it's perks.
"That's what I like to hear. Gotta go but I'll see you later?"
"You bet,"
He kissed her again before heading off and Iris smiled. His kisses made her heart race so she took a second before heading to her next class.
Now, here she was pulling on her beanie, coat and gloves, as she got ready for the game. The daytime was warmer than the night and she got cold easily, so she made sure to bundle up.
After grabbing her things, she locked the car and headed to the stands. Jordan was also playing tonight but he "wasn't going to be caught with my sister wearing my jersey,"
His words.
So, Iris proudly opted for James'.
She showed her ticket at the door and made her way to find a seat. Her mom was supposed to be joining her soon. Her dad couldn't make it since he was away on a business trip but her mom always came.
Plus, Iris hated looking like a loner at these things. he usually went with some of her friends but she was lacking in those ever since the thing with Jonathan happened. She took her seat texting her mom to let her know she was there.
The game was supposed to start in five minutes. From her spot she saw Jonathan crutch onto the field and take a seat on the sidelines by the Coach. Of course he was here.
She looked up as her mom joined her, "Hey mom," she said
"Hi honey? I'm on time, right?"
"Yeap. They should be starting any second now,"
