i just feel like schlatt visiting a small southern town and spending time out in the hills is fun alrighty. i think he'd actually have a good time lol.

enjoy!

"thank you for coming home with me," you grab schlatt's hand as he takes his eyes off of the road for a second and looks at you. you smile brightly. "i really think you'll like it here."

"anything for you. i'm honestly really excited about going down south, i've never been," schlatt replies, his dark eyes becoming golden as he looked at you before shifting his eyes back to the road he had been driving on for the last several hours. you were going back to your home state, to visit your family for spring break. every time schlatt had met your parents, they either came to new york or you met halfway and stayed with your aunt. you were excited, to say the least. you lived on a farm all of your life and knew that schlatt hadn't experienced that lifestyle in a very long time, if really at all.

you looked out of the passenger side window and saw all of the familiar mountains, trees, and little shops and roadside stands that littered the road as you passed the sign saying "welcome to (your hometown)!"

schlatt had secretly been watching you as you looked at everything with childlike wonder and quietly chuckled to himself. he was so happy that you were sharing your childhood memories and very personal parts of your life by asking him to come with you, but quickly remembered he didn't know where he was going.

"uh- y/n?" you snapped your head towards your boyfriend and looked at him confused. "i love watching you get all giddy at seeing everything you grew up around but i've never been here before and i need directions," he said with a chuckle. a deep red shade filled your cheeks as you felt the heat of a thousand suns fill your body. "s-sorry... you turn right up here at the light and then we go straight for a little while."

"it's alright, it was cute," he remarks with a sly grin facing you as he turns on his turn signal.

"is this the driveway?" schlatt said looking at you with raised eyebrows, nodding towards the gravel road to your right.

"yep! that's it! the dogs will most definitely start barking and try to run up to the car but they'll move out of the way," you looked back at him with bright eyes. he nodded and turned down the gravel road.

you saw the house you grew up in grow closer and closer and became more and more excited and restless. one by one, the two dogs you pretty much grew up with during your teenage years came down from the hill and began barking. schlatt looked over at you with slight worry in his eyes, so you quickly grabbed his hand and gave him a reassuring look. he gave a crooked smile as he parked the car beside of your mom's car.

he shut the car off and sighed, looking over at you. "here we are."

"i know you're nervous about this, but i promise you'll be just fine. it'll just be me, you, mom, and dad. no crazy aunts or weird uncles that ask extremely personal questions, no screaming grandkids, just us," you began, trying to comfort your anxiety-ridden boyfriend. "plus, you get to see and sleep in my childhood bedroom! beware, i was a bit of an artist in my teens," you said, making schlatt worriedly chuckle.

"i have no clue what to expect, but i'm preparing myself for the worst." he said, opening his door and seeing the dogs run to him and quickly shut it again. he looked over at you with wide eyes.
