hello there! i had a bad day today so this was a bit of a venting chapter for me, but i hope you still enjoy it! thank you for reading my work! much love and appreciation <3
the blue light emitting from your phone while you scrolled through tiktok burned into your eyes. the afternoon sunshine beamed in through the open curtains, but you didn't pay much attention to it.
bundled up under your comforter, you laid in bed as you had been for awhile, watching tiktoks, laughing at one every so often and sending it to your friend.
you had had a productive day, getting your online assignments done pretty early on, but quickly fell into a bit of a depressive state not to long after.
you looked at the top of your phone, saw that it was 6:23 in the evening, and decided to get up and make some dinner.
you peeled yourself away from the comforting retreat of your bed and shuffled down to schlatt's recording room, knocking on the door when you didn't hear him talking.
"come in!" schlatt's muffled voice said as you opened the door. "hey babe," he softly spoke, his warm smile fading quickly. "you look upset," he lightly huffed.
"i'm just tired, don't think i slept well last night," you quietly lied as you walked over to the brunette and sat on his lap, hugging him tightly.
"i'm sorry hon," schlatt kissed your forehead.
"are you good with just popping some pizza rolls in the oven for dinner tonight? i'm not really feeling up to cooking," you snuggled into the crook of schlatt's neck.
"that's fine with me, but i can cook too, ya know," he responded with a small chuckle.
"nononono, you're busy today, i'll just make something easy," you mumbled into schlatt's chest. something about his touch made you forget about the large gray cloud sitting over you, fogging your mind relentlessly.
"i have a feeling i'll have a hard time convincing you otherwise," your brunette lover responded.
"you'd be correct," you mumbled, making schlatt laugh, the rise and fall of his chest and his slow heartbeat calming you even more.
the two of you sat in silence for a moment, schlatt rubbing small circles on your back and rocking back and forth. you stretched out for a moment before getting up from his chair. "i'll let you know when dinner's ready," you said with a soft smile.
schlatt hummed in response before taking your hand and kissing it softly, making you giggle. "i love you, hon."
"i love you too," you responded before walking back upstairs and to the kitchen. each step you took seemed to bring back more and more of the darkness looming over your head, seeping into your thoughts.
after grabbing the bag of pizza rolls from the freezer and taking a pan out from the cabinet, you placed a solid amount onto the pan and set the oven to preheat to the correct temperature. you stood in the kitchen for a moment, letting the silence take you over.
the longer you stood in silence, the more your eyes brimmed with tears.
the oven is taking literally forever, i guess i have time to go sit down and try to calm myself.
you began to make your way to the living room as you wiped your eyes with the sleeves of schlatt's sweatshirt you were wearing, some tears slipping out and rolling onto your cheeks.
just as you were about to sit down to calm yourself, the oven beeped to let you know that it was preheated. a sudden wave of frustration with either yourself or your surroundings washed over you, your sadness turning into anger.
in a fit of somewhat rage, you threw your phone across the room, it luckily landing in the middle of the couch, but not before slamming into the wall and falling onto the cushion.
you weren't aware of the extremely loud noise your action had just caused as you were too busy focusing on your blurring vision thanks to the now-downpour from your eyes as you made your way back to the oven to put the pizza rolls in.
after shutting the oven, you began to make your way back to the living room to grab your phone and retreat to the comfort of your bed once again. light footsteps could be heard coming up the stairs until you were met with a slightly concerned brunette.
"what was that noise?" schlatt asked, not processing that you were crying.
"i-i threw my phone across the room," you embarrassedly admitted with a sniffle.
schlatt immediately took notice of your cracking voice and finally really looked at you before quickly bringing you into his arms. "what happened?" he softly spoke.
"today's been super rough for me and i was going to try and sit down to calm down while the oven preheated and then it beeped right as i was going to sit down and a weird wave of anger came over me and i just threw my phone and now i'm here," you rambled in between deep sniffles.
"y/n..." he borderline whispered. "it's okay, i'm here," he spoke as you fully stopped holding back your tears. "just let it out, i'm here to listen."
your tears dampened the front of schlatt's shirt as you released the pent up emotions from the day. the two of you slightly swayed as schlatt held onto you tightly. your face was almost dry and your sniffles had turned into small hiccups. "what's made today rough?" schlatt asked as he looked down at you with a worried and sympathetic look in his eyes.
"i've just felt like i have this rainy cloud over me all day. like a gnawing thing in the back of my head telling me how much i suck and don't deserve what i have," your lip slightly trembled as you spoke.
"y/n you don't suck and you most definitely deserve what you have. you're the greatest person i've ever met and will meet," schlatt rubbed the sides of your shoulders lovingly. you sighed at his touch and leaned back into his chest.
"i love you, j," you softly spoke even though you meant every word.
"i love you too, y/n," schlatt smiled as he placed his chin on top of your head. "what can i do to help cheer you up?"
"cuddle," you mumbled into his chest, causing schlatt to chuckle.
"you got it," he remarked as he took your hand in his and led you through the hallway and into your bedroom. the two of you immediately climbed under the covers and melted into each other's arms once again.
schlatt curled up next to you as he buried his chin into the crook of your neck. "is tomorrow saturday?" he asked, his voice a bit muffled.
"yeah. why do you ask?"
"how about tomorrow we get out of the house and go somewhere. i don't have anything i need to do tomorrow, so we'd have the whole day to just do whatever. just the two of us," the tall brunette suggested. you felt his lips curl into a smile as he thought about spending a day out on the town with you.
"that sounds amazing," you smiled as you began to massage his scalp. he melted at your touch.
"i'm here for you, y/n. i love you a lot and would do anything just to see your gorgeous smile," schlatt softly spoke as he tightened his grip around your waist.
"same for me, j. i love you a lot and i don't know where i'd be without you," you smiled.
suddenly, the oven timer went off. you let out a groan, but before you even thought about getting up to retrieve the pizza rolls, schlatt was already up and halfway out the door.
"I GOT IT!" he exclaimed as he ran through the house. you giggled, glad to not have to get out of bed but sad to lose the warmth schlatt's body heat was providing you.
a few minutes later, schlatt returned with a large plate of pizza rolls.
"you ready to eat?" he smiled as he sat beside of you and placed the plate on the bed.
"obviously," you giggled.
schlatt chuckled as well and kissed your forehead. "i love you, you dork."
"i love you too."
