USEFUL ? Illumi x Reader

I fell asleep reading the book Kikyo had suggested, I was woken by the handle of my door twisting followed by a light knock on the door. That was a rather inconvenient order... I stretched in bed and sat up, to see Illumi standing by the door frame.

"Well at least you're learning how to knock." I squinted my eyes at the light reaching from outside and rubbed my head still half asleep.

"Milluki finished your watch." He stated as he wandered near, extending his pale muscular arm to carefully place a box in my nightstand. "You're acting suspicious..."

I raised an eyebrow. "When have I ever acted normal?" Silence elongated.

"You're planning something, Y/N." He chimed, opening the box slowly and grabbing my s/c wrist carefully. "I'll want to know what, sometime soon." His nails grazed my skin and shivers went up my spine, his other hand was holding the elegant looking watch that would act as a map as well. And the bed sunk under his weight, right beside me.

"You're acting different as well, Illumi. This goes both ways." His thin pale lips twitched upwards as his eyes left the shiny wristwatch to admire my expression. "You have been playing nice, replying to all my questions honestly... Honestly, this new sympathy coming from you seems dubious..."

His eyes narrowed as they returned to the watch and I felt the cold metal against my wrist, he clasped it and rotated my arm to admire how it matched my complexion.

"You screamed at me, trying to make me think you hate me but don't want my family to think we're in bad terms... Your odd behaviour is of more concern to me." I laughed, figured he would notice my bad acting, I was undoubtedly mad for Gotoh's death, but even though Illumi allowed it, Hisoka would never go for the fight unless he found the butler moderately amusing...

"What if I told you I'm planning a way for your needle to leave my delicate forehead?" The delicate touch on my wrist turned into a hard squeeze, "It's such a good challenge..."

"You want to get away from me, Y/N? Suffocated, like Killua?" Easing his grip his fingertips now grazed lightly the sore spots he had created.

"If I don't get away from you after I take it out... will you promise not to add another needle on me?" My head tilted to the side, appreciating the dim light that came from the door as it kissed Illumi's silky hair and face, his eyes widened suddenly as his mouth hung open.

"You'd willingly be my puppet?" His touch left me as his arm went over my body to support his weight as he leaned forward, "That sounds nothing like you."

I bit my lip, "Maybe you'll be my puppet... maybe I'll be the puppet... wouldn't you like to play? A manipulation game, nen aside?"

"Huh..." His lips curled, into a wicked smile, as he remained too close for my comfort. "It'd be very impressing if you managed to make someone take the needle off you while staying in this manor, if you do it in these conditions... I'll reward you for what I imagine would be creative manipulation and join your game" I smiled.

"Oh! I will take it off... Just wait~"

"If you feel like dying by the hand of a Zoldyck..." Oh I felt like being done a lot by the hand of a Zoldyck, a corner of my lips rose in defiance.

"I'm glad you're in then, it'd be so much trouble to take it off only to have it placed back again." I whispered as I grabbed the book on my lap and placed beside the small shiny box. "I'll try the watch today... and give Milluki some kind of review."

He hummed, and I laid down, pulling the covers and getting cosy. "Now let me sleep, and next time knock first, open the door later, the order isn't that hard..." His weight left the bed and I felt the door creak slightly, I raised my voice.

"Have a good time at work." There seemed to be some hesitation as the door closed. This behaviour would have him confused for a while, that's all I needed.

I finished the book the day later, I had taken some time to train outside in the large forest, controlling little animals and racing Mike. Milluki's mapping addition was smooth and easy to figure out. Preparing myself for my job. After two days, Kikyo barged through my room waving some papers, apparently, she also didn't know how to knock...

But well this was her house...

"Here you have dear Y/N." She pulled out a gorgeous diamond choker with a round lens at the front, "You'll have to wear this, for evaluation purposes..." I smiled, screaming on the inside knowing I couldn't hesitate for a split of a second, and grabbed the expensive offering, placing it next to the box on the nightstand, as my watch shimmered.

The release date for my book was set for a day before Illumi arrived from his long job, I had a week left to do the assassination... My eyes loomed to the papers on the desk... I had to assassinate a very rich and prominent couple, for many reasons they had the best security system and guards looming in every corner. Their residence was a few hours away from Kukuroo Mountain but that meant nothing if I didn't devise a plan, maybe 2 or 3 plans... In case anything went wrong...

I studied blueprints and all the information given by Kikyo for a day and requested a butler to drive me near enough, so I didn't lose much time.

When I was reaching the manor door, with many weapons concealed, I met the old man Zeno, he was returning from his job. His blue eyes seemed vivacious as he greeted me.

"Zeno... Zeno... We should have a lovely chat over chocolate cake when I return~."

"Oh my... for a moment I thought you were quitting this place and finding a new path... Hehe~ I'll see you soon then, Y/N."
