If I could melt into the floor, I would. There, on the screen for everyone to see was my baby picture. You know the one. Naked in the bathtub with bubbles everywhere. As I stared at the screen, trying to pretend I didn't hear the snickers and giggles from the other students.
Uncle Shota patted me on the shoulder and said, "I know you are not accustomed to using your abilities, so I thought that a little push might be necessary."
Really. Okay. When this is over, we'll see about who gets a 'little push'.
Uncle Shota announced that we were going outside to the training area so I could complete my quirk assessment.
When we reached the training area, I was surprised to see that it looked almost like the Olympics. Okay, I can do this. I've always been an active kid and my mom encouraged me to try different things, so I've done gymnastics and different kinds of martial arts.
I go to the beginning of the race track and wait for the signal to start. While I'm waiting I try to boost my confidence. I'm strong, I'm fast, I'm limber. I can do this.
Then, I'm off. I can feel the wind rush by me as I run. A solid 4.01 seconds. Not bad.I am handed a small tool and told to grip it as hard as I can. Nope, definitely not my best thing. I need to work on that for sure.
Next is the long jump. I close my eyes and remind myself of my gymnastics training. I always rocked at the vault. I decided to do my best running jump with a twist. I was impressive if I do say so myself. It's hard to get that height for that distance.
I looked at the other students and most of them were whispering to each other. I don't even think they're paying attention to me. Well, Kiri gave me a little wave of encouragement and Midoriya gave me a thumbs up.
I did the side to side steps. It wasn't pretty, I hated every blasted second of it, but I did it. That'll wear you out for sure.
Last is the ball throw. Uncle Shota said, "Before I hand you this, I need everyone to know that this is a unique ball meant to test a specific kind of quirk. So, let's see what you can do."
He hands me the ball and backs away. It looks normal, smells kinda funny though. Just as I'm about to give it my best shot, I hear somebody behind me make a comment about girls being horrible at throwing a ball. My eyes narrowed. Oh yeah, let's see about that. I look at the ball and will it to fly.
As I'm throwing it, it starts to feel funny in my hand. When it goes flying across the field I get a good look at it. Wait, is it on fire? I look my hand over. Nope, not burnt. I run to where the ball landed and see that it's burnt the grass where it landed. A teacher rushes over and puts out the fire. I look over at uncle Shota and see him nodding and smiling. "As I expected.", he says. Well that makes one of us.
