12. Two Truths And A Lie

Start from the beginning

"What the hell happened?" He asks.

"I was walking and a biker hit me." I bite my lip as he inspects it, it's clean, but his mother being a nurse has seemed to rub off on him. "It looks worse than it is." I'm used to saying that phrase, it's almost an impulse.

"Bikers always taking up the damn sidewalk," He mutters under his breath.

"You're telling me." I joke, but he shoots me a glare. After a few muttered lectures, Alex finally covers the wound with a large band aid. "Am I good, doc?"

He shakes his head but a pinch hits one side of his cheeks."Physically, yes. Mentally, it's debatable."

"Wow, I'm wounded." I clutch my heart, sliding off the counter.

"So, how'd it happen?" Spider-Man asks out of the blue, sipping on a soda a guy bought him after he saved his cat. We were sitting on ledge of the same building as other day, the only difference is my arm got bandaged up and he's breathing easy.

I raise a covered eyebrow. "How'd what happen?"

"Ya know buzzzz." He shakes uncontrollably, sloshing some liquid out of his soda can.

"Oh, that," I laugh, then look down at fingers.  "Dunno to be honest, it just kinda did. What about you?"

"Spider bite."

I narrow my eyes, recalling his previous claims. "No shit."

"Yep, got the marks to prove it." Pulling down the edge of his glove, he exposes the skin of his hand. Two small round dot sit an inch or two above his wrist. "At least I got something cool out of it."

"Right, wall-walking and spider-sperm." I tease, though part of me is still slightly concerned about the contents of the fluid.

"It's not sperm. It's a polysynthetic solution- just watch." Turning his hand face up, he points the metal attachment on his wrist with a circular button on it. "Look, press here and shoot." With the nudge of a button, a string of white-grey splats onto the street across from us.

"Okay smarty-pants, what else do you got?" I ask, part genuine curiosity, part strategic curiosity.

"Super senses, wall thing, um-" Searching for something on the roof top pavement he finds it. A rock "hold this." I raise a brow as he faces away from me. "Now throw it at me, hard as you can. But don't tell me when you-"

Before he can finish, the stone sails across to this head, but just before it touches him, he leans back, causing it to sail to the side. "How the hell'd you that?"

"Spidey sense," He explains gleefully, turning around, "It like tell me when there's danger or somethi-"

Another stone hits his chest, causing him to squeal as I say, "It's broken."

"It doesn't always work." He groans and I try to mask laughs as coughs. "Alright, now, you show me a trick."

I bite the inside of my cheek and shake my head, then grab a bulb from the Christmas lights they use for holidays. "Give me your hands."

Does as told, he puts both hands up. I place one the lightbulb in his fingers, then I raise my fingers with sparks. "Hey, what you doing?"

"Hold still." I warn and grab his hand with my spark-less one.

"Is this going to kill me?"

"Maybe." Remaining still, he holds his breath. I let the current move, through my body down to his. The lights up bright red.
