Thomas
I heard Rosalee screaming. We had to run faster in order to save her and Newt. My mind was clouded as constant thoughts ran through my head, playing out each one like a movie. Reality around me seemed to have faded, and it was like I was the only person there. I didn't know where to run, but Rosalee's voice helped me along the way. Then, everything went quiet. Except for the occasional gunshots echoing through the city. I couldn't hear Rosalee anymore, which made my heart drop into the pit of my stomach.
I used whatever stamina I had left and sprinted with all my might, only to slow down when I discovered why everything was quiet. There, lying on the ground with Rosalee hovering above him, was Newt. His eyes were staring into the night sky, just like Chuck did when he died. Rosalee was whispering something to him, but I couldn't hear what. I felt tears rising to the surface, but I wasn't going to cry over it. Newt would know that in order for me to honor his memory, I had to do one final test. I knew what I had to do.
Anger boiled inside me as I walked over to pick up the gun off the ground. Everyone stared at me as I walked away furiously, but I didn't care. I couldn't believe Newt was gone. My heart ached. I was sorry for her loss, but it was like I lost another brother of mine. He was the only one that was nice enough to me when I first showed up in the Glade. I'm proud to call him my friend.
Suddenly, I heard a loud scream echoing in the street, causing me to stop in my tracks. It was Rosalee screaming. She had finally reached her breaking point. I gripped onto the handgun tighter as I forced myself to move. I couldn't stop now. That's when I decided to give up walking and started sprinting. It wasn't long before I reached W.I.C.K.E.D. tower, the place where all of it has to end. I was going to kill Ava Paige.
I walked in, unsure of where to go. Luckily, it didn't take me long until I opened the door to a long hallway. There, standing in front of the window, watching the city burn, was Ava. Shaking with fury and sorrow, I raised the gun at her. She knew I was coming, so she turned to face me with a solemn expression. I wanted her to pay for everything she's done to us. I wanted her to pay for throwing us into the Maze for their sick experiment, for forcing us to run in the Scorch, for getting my friends killed. But Ava stared at me like she felt sorry, which made me hesitate to pull the trigger.

"Is it true?" I asked, the gun trembling in my hand. "Newt. Could I have saved him?"
"You could save us all," she replied calmly, keeping the same expression on her face.
I stood there, the gun shaking more; anger reaching to my core. But what was the point in killing her if Newt was already gone? So, I gave up. I lowered the gun, letting more tears spill from my eyes. I let the gun slip out of my hand, creating a loud noise to echo in the empty halls. I let my head hang, not acting brave for Rosalee anymore. Ava walked up to me calmly, almost like she was about to cry.
"It's okay," she reassured me in a whisper.
I glanced up at her with a pleading look in my eyes. "Just leave the others alone."
"I promise."
I felt relief fill inside me. She actually obliged to this. That is, until a gunshot suddenly sounded. I glanced down to find a red spot on her white shirt, growing rapidly. Ava fell to the floor, revealing Janson behind her, holding the gun he used to kill her. He was coming closer to me, gun still raised, but I never bothered to run. He unexpectedly slapped something onto my neck, the thing pricking my skin. I pulled it out to find it was a tranquilizer dart.
I began to grow tired and weak; I couldn't keep my strength anymore. I fell to the floor helplessly as Janson stood above me with a sneer on his face. The gun I just dropped was right there, I just had to grab it. Unfortunately, Janson kicked the gun away before I could even grab it. Everything around me began to fade, and I could only focus on Rat Man's face.
"Oh, Thomas," he said evilly. "You should have run."
Before I lost consciousness, I turned my head to stare at Ava one last time. Then, everything faded to black.
