She kissed him and before she knew it her heart was hammering in her chest.
James did that to her.
He sat up wrapping her legs around his waist, drawing her closer.
They'd made out before but never like this. This was different and Iris could feel the intensity in James' kisses as his hands roamed her body.
He reached for the hem of her shirt and she allowed him to tug it off.
In one swift move, his shirt was off and his lips descended on hers again.
His lips trailed kisses down her jaw causing Iris to momentarily forget where she was.
She'd never felt like this before and in the intensity of the moment, she didn't want to do something she regretted after it happened.
She knew where this was going so as much as she didn't want to, she pulled back placing her hands on his chest.
"What's wrong?" he asked his eyes searching hers.
She sighed smoothing her hair back from her face as she tried to catch her breath.
"James... I know where this leads," she started.
He nodded, "Me too,"
"And I want this. Trust me, I do but- God this is embarrassing," she paused.
James tilted his head to the side, the silver chain around his neck tilting with him.
"Baby? What is it?" he asked maintaining a firm grip on her waist.
She blushed a deep red, "I'm- I'm a virgin,"
James couldn't hide his surprise, "Wh-Really?"
She nodded and his eyebrows raised as he sat back.
"So you and Jonathan never...?" he asked.
She nodded again, "It just never felt right. I think a lot of people assumed we did and I didn't bother diffusing the rumors, but no we didn't,"
James nodded, "Do you know that he said that you guys...? Okay. Wow, okay,"
She nodded, "Yeah, I know what he said. Jordan told me and I told Jonathan to stop telling people that," she said rolling her eyes, "I guess it gave him a one-up with the guys,"
She sighed placing her hands on his shoulders, "I'm sorry but I just thought you should know- I've never done this before and um... I know you're not and everything and I probably should've mentioned it before all this but... yeah."
"No, no, no," he said shaking his head, "Thank you for telling me,"
"I'm sorry for springing this on you at this particular moment in time," she said sheepishly.
He smiled, "I'd rather you tell me then go into something that you're not comfortable with,"
She nodded, "I know that you're a guy and sometimes-"
He shook his head, "Baby, this isn't about sex for me. At all. I mean, that would be an added bonus," he said wiggling his eyebrows and causing her to giggle, "And believe me, I want to, but if I've got to wait, then I will," he said
She nodded, "Thank you,"
He nodded placing a hand on her thigh and kissing her again.
"So... you're not a virgin, right?" she asked
He chuckled, "No. I'm not. My first time was my freshman year. Got onto the football team and all of a sudden every girl wanted me. It wasn't anything special for me honestly. After that, it kind of became like repetition to me. Being a horny guy with access to endless girls was not very good. That's when I dated Olivia and she broke up with me after like six months. After that, I stopped sleeping around. I was trying to become a changed man," he said chuckling.
She smiled, "Well, I like the guy you've become,"
"I know," he said smiling.
She grinned, "Full disclosure. There was one time I almost did it with Jonathan. I was so close but something told me not to. It didn't feel, right. You know? He wasn't, like, mad or anything but he wasn't happy about it either. But I kind of felt bad, you know? Like, I should've just let it happen-"
"No, no, no. Let me stop your right there," James said, "Your body, your rules. No one should ever make you feel bad about doing or not doing something with it. You go with your gut and how you feel. If there's ever a guy, even me, that makes you feel like that isn't right, then there's an issue. It's your decision and if you say no, then that's it. End of conversation. Your body is like your sanctuary. You don't just let anybody in. It's your decision. If he made you feel bad, then fuck him,"
Iris smiled, "God, I don't know what I'd do without you,"
"You won't ever have to find out, okay?"
She nodded kissing him.
"Anything else on your mind?"
"Just that I love you," she said
"I love you too," he replied.
