It's finally New Year's Eve, and Tendou and I are getting ready to leave to go meet up with everyone. I just put on a simple sweater with some jeans, tucking in the sweater as well.
Tendou is wearing a sweater with a collared shirt under it, along with some jeans. It's his go-to outfit but he makes it look adorable. He keeps his hair down, his glasses on since he still doesn't have his contacts with him as we can't go back on campus.
I put my hair up in a bun, leaving my bangs hanging there. I put on my usual makeup, being ready to go decently quickly. My mom lets me take the car, not wanting to make me pay to ride the bus.
I thank her, giving her a hug before we go. My brother and his wife already left to go home a couple of days after Christmas, planning to spend New Years' with her side of the family. "I'll make sure to call you when we get there and when we leave."
"Okay, thank you, sweetheart. You two stay safe!" She smiles brightly, waving us off. I drive to the shrine we all planned to meet at, listening to music with Tendou, laughing, and singing along. He even does some stupid dance moves which makes me laugh harder, but I do make sure to pay attention to the road.
We get there soon enough, going to the spot we agreed to meet at. Everyone is already waiting for us, all waving and yelling at us when they see us walking up. Hiroko comes up and hugs me, "I missed you!" She cries into my shoulder, which makes me laugh.
"I missed you too, I have a lot to tell you when we go back to school on Monday," I whisper the last part, and she perks up, looking at me curiously. I shush her, seeing Tendou isn't paying attention. She nods, giving me the look that now I have to tell her everything.
We all catch up, starting to walk to the actual shrine itself. We get our New Years' fortunes, in which all of ours are either good or great luck, and mine is poor luck. I pout softly, "that's not fair~"
Hiroko laughs, "you know the fortunes aren't real. It's just a random slip of paper they give you."
I pout more, "it still sucks~"
Tendou kisses my cheek, "oh, I think you'll have the best of luck~"
I blush softly, looking away from him. He just laughs, pulling me close to him. Everyone fake gags at us jokingly, which makes me even more embarrassed. I've never wanted to be one of those couples that are too touchy and everyone finds them annoying.
I don't say anything, just kind of standing there now as I zone out. They are all laughing and talking, but it's all just muffled to me.
I feel Tendou squeeze me slightly, which snaps me out of my trance. I look up at him, and I see him giving me a look written with concern. I just look away, not wanting to ruin the night with my overthinking.
Hiroko points out the food stands, suggesting that we should get a bite to eat. We all agree, being hungry as it's getting decently late.
I don't get much, not wanting to use a lot of money because it is my parent's money. I should really get a job. I am 18 after all.
We all eat our food in peace until Goshiki suddenly yells, "guys we're going to miss all the fun stuff if we don't go to the main building!"
We all check the time, swearing when we do. We all shove our faces full of food, quickly getting to the main building a couple of minutes after everything has started.
I am panting, my hands resting on my thighs as I'm super out of shape. Everyone else just laughs slightly at me. That's right, I'm with a group of volleyball players and Hiroko. They all work out.
