IN TOO DEEP

SICK

I just held her to me and we stayed that way for about an hour before she pulled a way finally. I felt so bad for my mother and it killed me to know that she was sick.

“Honey, I’ll go take my meds now. You should go outside and catch up with Hayley “ she said as she stood up.

I didn’t want to leave her side but she was already headed upstairs. I guess she really wanted to be alone.

I stood up and headed outside. Before I could go out I heard Hayley call me in the kitchen, I walked in and saw her sitting down at a stool. I took a seat in front of her and took a bit of her hotdog.

“HEY!” she shouted as she tapped my forehead.

I rubbed the spot because of the pain before smiling and chewing away.

“Hey Sam, I’m just concerned, do you trust him? I mean the hottie “ she asked with pure concern on her face.

I swallowed before nodding my head
“I just felt that what happened between you and Nate, I mean I’m happy you are giving love a second chance but... I just need you to be sure before jumping in” she said now holding my hands.

“Love is a very strong word. I wont say I LOVE the guy. But I like him and I just want to see how it goes" I replied rubbing her hand with my finger.

“Oh I’ve missed you so much! Now you have to tell me how you too met! I mean he’s really hot and all so duh" she said rolling her eyes at the last word.

“Not so fast flash. How are you and chase? Has he asked you out yet?” I asked and I saw a blush rise up her cheeks. My eyes widen as I realized .

“OMG Hayley!!! I cant believe you guys are already a thing and you didn’t tell me. I’m not surprised that chase didn’t but I expected you of all people to tell me" I said.

“It was about two weeks ago and I didn’t know how to tell you without telling you the news about your mom" she defended “you know I cant keep things from you so I just thought to avoid you all together before till you come back home".

I narrowed my eyes at her as I contemplated whether I should forgive her or not. She gave me puppy eyes and I could not take it anymore.

“Okay, fine" I replied. She smiled widely before pulling ne along upstairs.

“Where is hunter by the way?” I asked but Hayley was too busy chatting about how excited she was to hear all about my school.

I told Hayley as much as I remembered and she gave comment and kept interrupting me to share her view or how a similar situation happened to her too at home. Hayley wasn’t able to get in with me so she had to wait to retake the exams. Hopefully she’ll make it next time so we could both be in college together. She will probably take music because she loved music and she had tried releasing some songs but they weren’t really ‘IT' you know.

We were interested by a knock on the door and it was chase. He walked in and Hunter followed closely behind. He was only slightly taller than chase and they both looked handsome. As he walked in he playfully tapped Hayley’s feet with his and he made his way to the window. Hayley turned a bright pink and I thought that was the cutest thing I had seen I a while...  well except hunter and my little brother of course. Hunter just stood by the door with his arms folded. He had removed his jacket and was now on his white sleeveless. His hair looked well arranged with just a strand dangling out. It looked cliché but it still fit him perfectly.

He gave me a wink as he noticed me staring and I just stuck out my tongue. Mature Sam. Very mature. He chuckled at my action and I looked away. I focused on chase as he spoke to Hayley. I teased him about not telling me and he teased me back about how square I was. We spoke for hours and Hunter chipped in from time to time but he seemed very distracted as his phone buzzed every now and then and he turned to reply the texts sent to him.

"So Hunter, what do you do?" Chase asked,  his hands now thrown over Hayley's shoulder

Hunters head shot up and he lowered his phone "I just graduated engineering... waiting to practice " he replied.

Hayley bobbed her head as she grew more and more impressed by Hunter. Makes two of us. Hunter's phone rang and he looked down at the screen and his face grew into a frown.

He looked at me as if asking for permission and I bobbed my head in approval a d he made his way out of the room, placing his phone on his ear as he left.

"So Sam, Man" chase chuckled.  "You like him don't you?"

I looked at him with a small smile playing on my lips. I bit my lips as thoughts of what happened in the car came flooding in "I guess I do. I'm just getting to know him better" I replied

Chase adjusted himself and held my hands "I don't want you getting hurt that's all" he said with concern

I just nodded and walked towards the door. I checked around but there was no sign of Hunter so I walked outside. The cold air hit my skin and u immediately regret not bringing my jacket. I walked around the house and I saw a guy leaned on the wall of the house, he was had a lit cigarette in his hands and I stood there trying to decipher who he was.

"Its cold out hazel" the voice said and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

I walked towards him so that I was now inches from his face. The smell of cigarette filled the air and my stomach felt sick "why are you out here?" I managed to ask

As if sensing my discomfort he threw the stick of cigarette on the floor and squashed it with his leg. He pulled me into him so my body was pressed into him as he pulled his coat out so that I was in it literally.

"I was just clearing my head" he replied giving me a kiss on my head "I'll never let anything or anyone hurt you. Never" his words rang through my head as I inched in impossibly closer and relished in the warmth emanating from his body... I might just like him way too much
