There's a long silence, which you feel like you should break.
a) "Do you have any Pokémon?"
b) "So what are you doing in the desert?"
c) "Why did Liepard run up to you like that?"
a) "So, do you have any Pokémon?" you ask, leaning forward a bit.
"Like I said, I'm not a trainer. But I do have a couple companions of my own."
"Oh really? What kinds of Pokémon?"
His lips quirk up in a smile. "Unfortunately I do not wish to give that kind of info to a Team Plasma grunt."
b) "So...what are you doing in the desert?"
"It's the only way from Castelia to Nimbasa without flying," he says plainly. "And I wanted to check out the ruins."
"Like Relic Castle? What would you need there?"
"Answers," he whispers.
c) "Um, why did Liepard run up to you like that?"
"I couldn't tell you why. She was very excited though."
"Excited?"
"She most likely sensed some of my friends. One of them is a dark-type after all."
After a few more minutes of surprisingly friendly chatting, the sandstorm starts to show signs of calming down.
N gets up, and you follow after him.
"No. I need to do something by myself. We'll meet in Nimbasa City." He pauses, as if thinking that response was too harsh. "I mean...I just...nevermind." He takes a few steps back, then pulls out a Pokéball.
There still isn't enough trust between you. You don't know if that will ever change, but you hope it will.
He mutters, "Night Daze," just as a shadow-y Pokémon comes out, and everything goes black.
After a few seconds, when the darkness clears, N is gone. But the sandstorm is also gone, so you decide to get back on the path and head for Nimbasa City.
(N POV)
Somewhere deep in the desert, far underground, lay the ruins of an ancient civilization.
I've found those ruins, and now I've made my way to the very bottom.
There's a labyrinth of sorts, with many different doors I could go through. Clearly those who lived here centuries ago didn't want anybody finding their treasure.
But I need this. If not for myself, to keep anyone else from finding it. I'm sure I'm the only one who knows it could be here.
I carefully walk into the room decorated with pillars and old vases, wary of any traps there might be.
All the tiles are worn and made of an old sandstone, some of them charred in places.
But why would they be burnt like that? It's not as if she could have already awakened.
I'm only able to wonder as I continue into the room, a few grains of sand occasionally raining down from the ceiling.
Finally, just a few steps ahead is an altar with exactly what I'm looking for sitting right on it.
Suddenly, the room begins to feel really warm. Something screeches, and a Pokémon flies out from behind the altar.
It has bright orange wings, and a furry white body, with a mandible-like horn on each side of its face. It spreads its wings open, nearly blinding me with a light like the sun.
Volcarona...the Guardian of Relic Castle!
It charges forward, and Zoroark bursts out of his Pokéball before I can stop him.
Zoroark attacks without needing an order, then falls back so I can have a chance to speak with Volcarona.
"Please listen to me! I know you're here to guard the Light Stone, but I need Reshiram's help-"
I don't get to finish. Volcarona goes in for another attack too quickly.
"Stupid moth!" Zoroark growls, blocking the attack. "Let him talk!"
I shake my head with a small smile as Zoroark begins to go on a whole rant while he battles.
Zoroark uses Shadow Claw, which Volcarona dodges. Then he makes the whole room go dark with a Night Daze, just like how he did with Y/N.
I feel a bit bad for just running off like that, but it's important they don't find out I came here. Especially since they're part of Team Plasma.
Zoroark flies back due to a super-effective Bug Bite from Volcarona.
"Zoroark!" I return him to his Pokéball.
Volcarona slowly flies towards me. I need to prove to it that I'm not a threat.
Backing away, I reach into my pocket and feel the cool black stone I had kept with me for the past two years. I know I'm not supposed to use it unless it's an emergency, but Volcarona won't listen to reason, and my other Pokémon will just get hurt if I try to fight it.
I look around the room. It's surely big enough to handle this. I pull the Dark Stone out of my pocket, and it grows to be the size of my hand.
Volcarona recognizes it, and flinches as I raise the stone into the air.
"Zekrom, I need your aid! Awaken now!"
With a roar like the crash of thunder, the Dark Stone glows and becomes the great dragon Zekrom.
He lands behind me, red eyes narrowed, then roars again. Him and Volcarona stare at each other, until Volcarona moves aside.
"Thank you, Zekrom." I take a few steps forward, towards the altar, and look down at the Light Stone radiating a warm aura. "She'll awaken soon." I reach out to take the stone, but Zekrom stops me with a growl.
"Are you sure this is the wise choice? Why do you seek Reshiram's power?"
"Hm...you're right. I don't have a reason just yet."
"And you are not the Hero of Truth. Reshiram may only be awakened by the Hero of Truth."
"If I'm right, and Reshiram will awaken soon, then that must mean the Hero of Truth isn't far away." I nod and take a step back. "Very well. Zekrom, our work here is done."
