(Hi! Before I started the chapter, I just wanted to say thank you for 1K reads!)
(Y/n's POV)
Fight.
Run.
Win.
Lose.
Pride.Mine.
Kill.
My mind was torn between every instinct in my body. I wanted to hurt, but I wanted to help. I was stuck. When the final phase had started with Gon's fight, I knew that it would be painful to watch my friends get hurt and hurt others. But what I hadn't known was just how much I could want to hurt someone.
Gon had won. All I knew was that he would be okay. And it would be my turn soon. As I watched others fight, I realized that I was itching to dig my nails into someone's skin and draw blood. My mind was begging to let me hurt them. I was shaking from pure anger, and Killua had to hold me in place to make sure I didn't either feint or hurt someone before my fight.
I went just before Killua. I felt my tail swing low across my legs and stared my opponent down. They looked confident. I wanted to make them scream. Bleed. Hurt. Kill. I took a deep breath, trying to remember that I was not trying to kill them, only to beat them. As soon as the match started, they ran towards me. I jumped just before they reached me and wrapped my claws around their neck, flipping them over and pulling them to the floor.
I heard a strained scream but just let go of them before I hit the ground. I spun on my heel and turned to stare at my opponent. Their neck was bleeding heavily. I walked over and leaned down, looking into their eyes. I smiled and grinned at them, showing off the sharp fangs I had refused to attempt to hide.
"I win." I said. The referee nodded, agreeing with me. I sat up my former opponent and sighed. "I'm sorry for hurting you like that, I just had a lot of pent-up agitation going on." I closed my eyes and wrapped a hand around the main wound. I had known I could do this for a while, due to my ability to change the physical bodies of people and animals, but I didn't use it often. I spent a second grafting the skin back together and then lay them back down on the ground. "I recommend you rest for a bit before fighting again unless you want to die from blood loss." I got up and dusted off my knees.
"I'm going to go help Gon. Good luck, Killua. Kurapika. You too, I guess, Leorio." With that, I walked out of the room and ran after Gon and Satotz.
~Two hours later~
When Gon finally woke up, I fell to the floor, exhausted. "Oh thank goodness..." I whispered. Satotz picked me up and thanked me for helping.
"You should rest. However, I assume you would feel guilty and would be unable to do so, if you didn't hear how your friends did." I nodded as Gon looked between the two of us, confused.
"What-"
"You feinted and I helped heal you. He's gonna tell us how our friends did in their fights." I explained with as little details as I could manage. Gon fell silent and looked to Satotz expectantly.
As he explained what happened, I shivered. "Killua..." I whispered when he had finished. Gon looked beyond pissed. "Gon... if you're going to go after them, can you hold me please..? I don't think I can walk on my own..." I frowned. Gon nodded and I quickly transformed into a cat, letting him pick me up.
I could barely keep my eyes open as Gon walked. I knew that he was on edge and would most definitely be hurting Illumi when he found him, but... I couldn't help but fall asleep. I had not only exhausted myself by helping heal two people, but I hadn't slept well last night, which definitely wasn't helping.
When I did wake up, it wasn't Gon who was holding me, but Kurapika. I looked up into his eyes and meowed. "Ah, hello again, Y/n. I'm sorry, but we just couldn't wake you up after what happened. If you're wondering, we're heading to get Killua back." I lifted my head up at this and twitched my right ear at him, making him smile.
We're going to get Killua back..? I moved my forearms and snuggled up against Kurapika's chest, thinking about Killua. From what Satotz had said, he had been really upset. I was worried that maybe... he didn't want to see us after what happened. I felt Kurapika's hand stroke my small head in between my ears and started to purr quietly.
It reminded me of when Killua had pet me.
It felt nice.
Wait- what?
We continued on the way to Killua's home, which I learned was called Kukuroo Mountain, in the Zoldyck estate. Gon seemed to have cheered up a bit now that we were on the way to getting his friend back, but I was more worried than I had been before.
Well known as the best assassins around, apparently. But if that was the case, why was Killua so... amazing? I had met people with higher status because of my Dad, and they were hardly ever as kind and caring and selfless as Killua was. It made me wonder what had made him become the exception.
When we finally arrived at a huge gate after a boring tour-bus guide's speech, I ended up looking around and discreetly turning human again. I poked Gon's shoulder and whispered, "Do you think we can get past that?" He shrugged and listened to the tour guide again. I was already bored with her 'fun facts' and whatever she was talking about.
One group of dumb-looking guys walked up and demanded to be let into the estate. An old man walked out and seemed to be frightened, giving them a key to get inside. There was a loud growl and a pile of bones was pushed back out of the door they used, making all of the tourists rush back into the bus and drive away.
I just listened to the animal beyond the gate in curiosity. It was big. You could tell by the sounds it made. Now I was even more curious. What exactly was in the Zoldyck estate, and why did I yearn so badly to learn everything I could about it?
End of Chapter.
