"Pssst...Stormy, you still awake?" Benjamin's irritating voice woke me from my dreamland.
Ugh.
"I am now. Asshole." I groaned in response, about to turn over, however I remembered he might have been facing in the direction of my bed so quickly decided to keep my head looking straight up at the wall.
Even though we were in complete darkness, his glowing red eyes would probably still be visible, I didn't want to remember he was sleeping in a bed next to me.
It still felt unbelievable.
All of a sudden I realised how thirsty I was. My throat as dry as the Sahara desert. God damn prosecco.
"You only fell asleep like ten minutes ago. At least that's when your snoring began" Benjamin teased.
Yeah right. "I don't snore actually. I'm a mouth breather." I proudly admitted before realising how stupid it sounded.
Benjamin chuckled lightly.
I was never drinking this much alcohol ever again. My head was on fire, my throat parched and I was saying lots of stupid shit I knew I'd regret.
I didn't even want to think about everything else I had said to Bev and Benjamin during the game of Never have i ever.
I decided to turn my back to Benjamin, shuffling in the sheets to get comfortable again. "If you knew i fell asleep only ten freaking minutes ago, why the hell did you wake me up?" I questioned, irritated.
"I wanted to know if what you said was true?"
I groaned internally. "Yes. i already told you it was by accident.To be honest he only saw one boob if that and–"
"-Not about that Maeve" Benjamin laughed, his voice sounding weirdly serious.
"Huh?" I was confused.
Oh God, what else had I admitted to?
"Never being kissed," Benjamin confirmed.
I inhaled slowly trying to brace myself for Benjamin to make some expected awful, cruel comment. But he remained silent.
Weird.
I tried to tell myself not to be embarrassed. It was my life and my timeline. Just because everyone else around me had snogged random people, didn't mean I had to. I was waiting. For what? I had no clue. But it felt right. So how could I be embarrassed about that?
"You woke me up from my slumber to check I've never kissed anyone?" my voice still sounded grouchy.
"Mmmh." Benjamin confirmed.
I turned my body, now facing his bed. Like I was just doing before, Benjamin was also lying on his back, looking straight up at the wall.
From the window adjacent to his bed, a small amount of the moonlight from outside made him easier to see.
He looked deep in thought, and I couldn't look away. If he was wrapping paper, he would be sold out in every shop.
I wondered then, if we had never known each other before. I would have walked into Brewtiful and saw an objectively beautiful looking person frothing milk and probably would have fallen in love.
That would have been awful. That naive version of myself wouldn't have known who she was really talking to. In some sad way I was glad that I knew who he was. It meant Maeve in the parallel world probably still loved herself. One of us should be able to.
"Yeah it's true" I responded trying to sound nonchalant.
Benjamin didn't say anything after that, and after a minute of silence again I started to drift away.
The wine must have really messed with my mind, because I could have sworn I heard Benjamin whisper "I'm sorry."
