Sleep - Her dreams could come true for a few hours.
Queen Cyanide P.O.V
When he asked me to dance I was surprised. I thought he would clench his jaw and continue staring off into space for the rest of the night.
When he asked me I took that risky step on to the tight rope, I said yes and placed my hand in his. After I placed my hand in his he led me to the middle of the dance floor. You could tell that we both had many lessons in dancing because we glided effortlessly over the marble floors.
"I feet like Cinderella, but she was dancing with Prince Charming while I'm dancing with the devil," I randomly blurted out.
His eyebrows knitted together as if he was confused," who's Cinderella?"
I gasped and stumbled a little at his question, "you've never watched Cinderella, the movie that the humans created?"
"I don't like to bother myself with human culture."
"What happens if you get stranded in a human town and you have to fit in?"
"You're such a pesky little queen, you ask way to many questions," he twirled me around.
"Am not, I bet you listen to all the supernatural gossip."
"I also don't like to bother myself unnecessary gossip."
I nodded," you should talk with more emotion, it makes you more likeable and you sound like a robot."
"Why should I care about being likeable Queen Cyanide?"
"After all you are a king and call me Lilah, King Monroe."
"Don't call me that, call me Dexter and I'm starting to regret my decision of asking you to dance."
"Well I'm not regretting saying yes." I replied.
We fell into a comfortable silence and continued dancing.
I broke the silence with a very idiotic question," what do you do on your free time."
"I brutally murder my enemies I have locked up in a cage under the castle."
My eyes widened at his reply.
He looked amused at my reaction, " I was joking."
"You seem like the type of person who would."
He stopped dancing and looked at me with cold, menacing eyes, "you don't know me at all."
He studied me for a second before stomping out of the ball room. Now I'm regretting saying yes.
I looked at the ex-king and bowed, "sorry for the scene, please continue with what you were doing."
I walked out of the ball room and searched for my room. After what seemed like hours I finally made my way back.
When I got to my room I automatically crashed on my bed.
The next few days were boring and tiring. I woke up, got dressed, ate, went to a meeting about rouge witches and vampires, ate, relaxed, ate, and then went to bed. During that entire week I only saw Dexter when we had the meetings. Other than that he avoided me like the plague, as did I. One of the nights I researched the soul mating laws about royals and found some interesting news.
I found out that two royals who own the throne are not allowed to be together because you cant unite to kingdoms together and a queen or king cannot just leave his or her throne. So basically me and Dexter cant be together.
I know I explained it lightly but after you find your mate being away from them hurts. Imagine being stabbed in the heart then having it fixed when your awake over and over, that's what it feel like.
It was Monday morning and I woke up with a jolt when I felt like my body was on fire. I couldn't take this pain any longer but I didn't want to be the one to give in first. Im going to need a little help. If I'm not going to give in, I'll just get rid of it all together.
I mumbled a spell to temporarily numb the pain. I the stated chanting another spell to summon Dawn.
When I finished the spell dawn had appeared. I chanted another spell so that Dexter didn't know that Dawn was here.
"You do know I could've been taking a shower or something," she said sarcastically.
"I knew you wo-"
"WOAH, you look like a hot mess!" She practically screamed.
"I know, it happens when your mate ignores you."
"Oh my ginger snap, you found your mate, "she replied happily.
"I thought you were mad at me?"
"I am it's just your like my best friend and we have a connection so naturally I'm happy to see you. Also who is you're mate, "she jumped onto the bed. I didn't know how to tell her.
"Iammatedtoyourbrotherpleasedontkillmeorhim," I said quickly.
Her eyes widened and she jumped up. She must of understood me.
"You can't be, can you?" I nodded at her question.
"I summoned you because I need you to help me block it or break it," as I said those words the pain came back.
"Is he causing you pain, cause I will kick his a-"
"Its partly my fault."
She shook her head, "back when I had a mate I found a way to block it."
"How?"
"Step one; get close to him. Step two; use a spell to hide your smell from him. Step three; erase the memory of him finding you. Step four; use another spell so that if he touches you he doesn't feel the mate pull. After that your all set," she said as if it was the easiest thing in the world.
"What about me."
"Once the spell is done you wont feel a thing for him." She chirped happily.
"Your too happy about this."
"I have the right to be, also I need help opening up a portal because Jaxton needed me for something," she said more seriously.
I nodded," Dawn how are you doing after what happened at the boarding school."
"I'm fine, if anything I feel more refreshed," she stated looking away.
"It's okay you know, I was the one who didn't listen when you said you wernt ready," I looked at her sadly.
"Can you just open the portal," she said in a strained voice. I sighed and waved my hand in the air. When my hand came back down to my side the portal opened.
"Bye," she bowed and stepped through the closing portal.
I sighed again, "time to start the spell."
I yawned, maybe tomorrow.
I laid back in my bed and got comfortable. I stared up at the ceiling. I imagined tiny swirling orbs until I fell asleep.
The next morning I felt worse than I did yesterday. The pain was unbearable. I tried the spell to get rid of the pain but when I stood up, I fell to my knees and started screaming. I screamed as loud as I could for what felt like hours. I then remembered that my room was soundproof, so I ended up giving into the pain. I let tears run down my face as I fell into the darkness.
King Monroe
Its been weeks since I last talked to Lilah and the pain I was feeling was horrible. Its my fault, I was the one who overreacted.
I cursed and fell out of my chair. I felt the pain flow through my entire being. I need to find Lilah.
I stood up and almost lost my balance. Cursing, I slowly made it out of my office and to the stairs. I shakily took the first step up the stair and after thirty more horrid steps I made it to the floor she was on.
When I made it to the top the pain came back worse than before. My hand atomatically clutched my shirt. Gripping my chest with one hand, I used the other to steady myself against the wall. Cursing I slowly made it to her door.
When I got to her door I tried the door knob. When it didn't budge I slammed my fist into the door and cursed when the door didn't break like I planned. Getting more fustrated I slammed my foot against the door and watched as it slammed open with a bang.
When I looked inside I saw the one thing I cared about most curled up in a ball on the floor. Looking at her made me hurt more. A sudden sharp pain made me fall to my knees. Slowly I started seeing black dots. I reached over to lilah wanting her in my arms. I pulled her into my arms with the little bit of strength I had left.
I fell into the darkness as I listened to her whimpers. This was all my fault.
Queen Cyanide
I slowly opened my eyes and stared up at the black and red ceiling. Wait my ceiling isn't black and red. As I slowly started waking up more I realized the heat that was surrounding my right hand.
I looked to see Dexter's hand wrapped around mine. He was slumped over with his head on the bed. After looking at him once more I came to the conclusion that he was asleep.
I'm still doing the spell because of the pain he made me go through. I wouldn't be in this situation if he didn't overreact.
I pulled my hand out of his without waking him up. I then started chanting the spell to hide the soul mate scent. When that was over I took off my ring that had a small blade in it. I cut my palm and used the blood for the next spell, take away his memory of finding me, mate.
I felt a tear slide down my face. I could slowly feel the mate bond braking.
No! No! No! I screamed in my head, I don't want this anymore. Then I felt nothing. No remorse, no love, no pain, and no bond.
Sighing I pulled myself out of the bed and teleported to my room. When I got back to my room I went straight to my bed. I quickly regretted the decision because when I laid down my head started pounding.
Groaning, I closed my eyes and curled up. Stupid aftereffects. I then slowly fell asleep.

He looked through the window and smiled as her eyes fluttered open.
