*beep*beep*beep*
Today was the day the cast of IT was coming to the beach house. I never really liked hanging out with them because they were all so tight knit whereas I was just like an add-on. Don't get me wrong- they're great people and they always involved me, but being in the shadow of my brother never helped.
Hey, I'm Emilee Grazer. Yep, the younger sister of Jack Dylan Grazer. Two siblings that love each other; sometimes.
When Jack got the role in IT over a year ago, I was pushed to the side majorly. I was 11, going on 12, and it didn't really appeal to me being with a bunch of hormonal teenage boys on set all day. The only person I really enjoyed being with was Sophia. She just understood me.
Now being 13, I haven't seen them since and I have no idea what to expect.
"Em! Come on! We have to get ready for the cast to come over!" Jack shouted at me from outside my door.
"Yes Jack." I let out with a grunt, rolling myself out of bed. He was right though; this place was a disaster. We got the beach house every summer and since our parents were away for a couple weeks, cleaning has been a minority.
Walking to my door, I take a look at the framed photos on my wall. My favourite is from our recent trip to Australia. We went on a safari tour right as the sun was setting; it was the perfect picture.
Over the past few months I've established a name for myself following a different path than my brother; photography.
My shots have been featured in National Geographic, Elle, and other major platforms. Although it's great to have my work out there, I miss being able to have more free time.
Photo shoots, interviews, and meetings have occupied most of my schedule lately. But regardless, I love it.
I trotted down the main staircase leading into the main foyer, and opened the door to the kitchen.
"Hey Em. There's fruit in the fridge and some bagels on the counter. I've gotta go get some food for later. I'll be back soon." And with that, he was out the door.
I grabbed a bowl of strawberries from the fridge, and sat on the island. I scrolled through my phone, looking at today's feed and news.
After I finished my food, I knew I had to start cleaning. Walking up to my room to change, I realized I didn't know how much time I had to get this all together.
Emilee: hey, when's everyone arriving?
Jack: uhhh around 11:30...
Emilee: you better be back soon to start cleaning.
Jack: yep.
I sighed and found some grey sweatpants, and a fitted white crop top to organize this mess in. I washed my face, threw my hair into a bun and walked downstairs.
Time to clean.
10:45am
Everything was neat and organized, no thanks to Jack. He hadn't gotten back home due to "long lines at the store". Chances are he caught up with some friends and completely forgot about today.
Why was I even helping him? I barely remember what the cast looks like.
Shaking the thought out of my head, I walked up the stairs to put on some semi-decent clothes.
A distant doorbell chime brought me back down to the front door.
I opened it to reveal a tall boy, with dark hair looking me straight in the eye.
"Jaeden?" I called.
"Emilee? Is that you?" He was looking long and hard at me, making me feel awkward.
"Yeah! Oh my god it's been so long!" I hugged him and breathed in his scent. A mix of Abercrombie and cinnamon clouded my senses. He had definitely grown up.
"Come in, come in." I waved him inside.
He nodded and continued to walk in.
"Jack isn't home yet, which isn't a surprise, considering he said people weren't supposed to be here until 11:30." I rambled on leading him up the stairs.
"Oh. Yeah sorry about that. It's my fault, I'm the early one." He let out with a small chuckle.
"No problem. I was just about to start getting ready so if you wanted, you could chill out in my room. It has a nice view onto the ocean and I have Netflix."
"I'm down for that."
After he got comfortable on my bed and situated himself with the Netflix, I started to find some clothes.
I walked into the closet, coming out with a white caged-neck fitted shirt, high waisted denim shorts, and a pink, blue, and cream coloured flannel to put over my shirt.
"Hey Jae, I'm just gonna go get changed and I'll be right back out." He nodded and I went into the bathroom located next to my headboard.
Coming out a few minutes later, I saw Jaeden studying a few of the framed photos I'd taken.
"Emilee, these are beautiful." I blushed at his compliment.
"Thanks Jae."
He sat back down and continued his episode of Parks & Rec.
I went over to my vanity and proceeded to fix my messy bun.
After placing on light foundation, I saw Jaeden looking at me in the reflection of the mirror.
When he saw me notice him, he blushed and looked down.
Weird.
12:00pm
He and I were sitting on my bed watching Ferris Bueller's Day Off when we heard the front door open.
"Emilee!" Jack yelled from downstairs. There were more footsteps behind his too.
Jaeden and I walked downstairs to see Jack with the rest of the cast.
"Sophia!" I yelled and pushed through everyone else.
"Hey Em! I've missed you so much! You look so gorgeous!" She gawked.
"Look at you! My model friend!" I said punching her shoulder.
When I looked around I was getting long stares from the rest of the boys, except Jack who was giving them that 'back off she's my sister' glare.
Finn was the first to approach me,
"Why hello there Miss Emilee." He grabbed my hand and kissed it. I laughed at his flirtatious ways.
"Hi Finn." I said with a hug.
After saying hello to everyone else, Jack finally spoke up.
"So are we just going to ignore that you and Jaeden literally just came from your bedroom?" Jack gave Jaeden a scowl which he gladly returned.
"We were watching movies you idiot. He got here early. Which reminds me... who exactly was the person, for one; left me to clean this entire hour and two; came here an hour late?" I fired back.
He rolled his eyes and walked away.
"Sorry Jae. He gets really overprotective." I apologized.
"I get it, don't worry." His hand grazed mine and I shivered.
Wyatt suddenly shouted,
"Swimming anyone?!" We all agreed and got our swimsuits on.
I was the last one out because I stopped to grab a juice from the fridge. I wore a halter bikini top with cross cross cutouts along the front, along with matching bottoms.
Walking out onto the patio, I heard a series of whistles and 'damns' from the boys.
All leading to Jack getting irritated and splashing them. I sat under an umbrella in a chair next to Sophia.
After a while of sun tanning, I finally decided to go into the pool. Before I could jump I was thrown in by a pair of hands on my waist. When I resurfaced I saw the culprit; Jaeden.
"Oh I am so gonna get you back!" I screamed at him. He jumped in right next to me, resulting in more water in my face. I swam under water up to an angry looking Jack. I pulled him into a corner away from the commotion and asked him what was up.
"Why have you been acting so grumpy? Gosh, you wanted me to be friends with these people and now that I am you're getting mad." I was tired of earning looks from Jack and I was certainly done having him do it to the boys.
"Jaeden obviously likes you, I mean it's evident! And I'm tired of it. You're my younger sister and I know how these guys can get. Stay away from him, Em. Please." Before I could respond he swam off.
"Hey, Em. Are you ok?" Jaeden came over and asked.
Jaeden obviously likes you.
He couldn't, could he?
"Yeah. Yeah I'm fine." I put on a smile. I wasn't staying away from him.
"Want to chill out with me and Sophia? It's quiet and we'd be away from Chosen & Jeremy's splash war."
He smiled brightly and nodded.
7:30pm
After a long day of being outside, we ordered pizza and settled down to watch a movie in the living room. We had a series of blow up mattresses set up on the floor, as they were all sleeping over. Sophia was staying with me, while the boys bunked down here.
I was sitting on the couch with Jaeden & Sophia, while the rest were scattered throughout the room.
Jaeden, Sophia and I were sharing a huge blanket, just talking about whatever.
While we were talking, Jack shouted over us;
"SO! What movie should we watch?" He had an angry expression on his face, which didn't phase me. Just to set him off I leaned into Jaeden, which he happily did too in response. Even if Jack weren't there, I was still tired and Jaeden was a good pillow.
"How about The Shining?" Finn suggested.
Of course. The one horror movie that really got to me.
Everyone said yes, and when I didn't respond Jaeden asked,
"Hey, Em? Is that ok?"
"Yeah. It's good."
I lied.
When the movie came to an end I was buried so far under the blankets I couldn't see any light. I had Jaeden's arm in clutch and I was not letting go.
When I looked up and the credits were rolling, Jaeden assured that I was okay by grabbing my hand and squeezed it tight.
"Hey, Emilee. Could I talk to you, outside?" He asked quietly.
"Uh, sure. We'll be back in a minute guys."
I got all nods, aside from Jack roughly grabbing my hand.
"Jack."
"Emilee." His gritted teeth made me a bit intimidated, but I knew it was only because I was a year younger and he thought I was defenceless.
I jerked away and grabbed Jaeden's hand weakling out the patio door.
"H-hey Emilee? Could I ask you something?"
He seemed really nervous.
"Yeah, of course." I said in a soft tone.
He stepped closer to me, where I could feel his breath on my neck.
"Do you care what Jack thinks?"
"To an extent. But not today. He's been acting like a total jerk." I replied honestly. He was being really rude. Especially to me & Jaeden.
"Good, because he would kill me if I did this." He said into my ear. I laughed,
"Do wh-"
He placed his lips on mine.
His hands were around my waist and mine around his neck. When he pulled away, I had an empty feeling. I missed it. Our foreheads were touching and it was silent until I spoke,
"He's gonna kill us."
He smiled,
"At least I'll die happy."
