-My new master. My lord's heir.
•••• •••• ••••

Mae let out a gasp as she could no longer see anything.

The four teens quickly scrambled onto their feet, breaking away from the circle. Mae and Eric rushed towards the antique lamps, helplessly flicking at the light-switch as they did not want to remain unprotected from whatever entity they had been talking to.

"Why aren't the lights on, yet?" Mae heard her brother ask, fear gripping at his voice.

The sound of shuffling met her ears, before a thump echoed through the living room. She tried to follow the noise, but didn't get far as she ran right into one of the couches. Her knees slamming against the sectional's hard leather arm, causing her to lurch forward and land on the cushion.

"The switch isn't working." Amy called out, "The lamps?"

From her spot on the couch, Mae shook her head. "The lamps aren't working either. Do you think we blew a fuse?" She wondered aloud.

"No." Eric answered. Mae was able to make out the outline of everyone's figure. Eric and Amy were a little easy to recognize as their matching red mane clashed against the dark shadows of the house.

She watched as the redhead carefully walked back to the circle, grabbing onto the shot glass and placing the object in the pocket of his sweatpants. "I think whatever we were talking to, did this."

The response sent a chill down Xavier's and Amy's spine, while Mae let out a giggle. The action caught the three off guard, all eyes turning onto the brunette.

"Mae? What's funny about this? How could you not believe in ghosts after everything we just saw?" Xavier huffed, glaring at his sister and her blindness to the situation at hand.

"No, I believe in spirits. Heck, I saw and even talked to one at my field trip the other day. It's just-" Mae paused, falling short on how to properly word her sentence. "I don't think a spirit has the power to mess with our generator."

"Well, we don't know anything about it." Amy brushed back a piece of her hair behind her ear, before nervously crossing her arms over her chest.

"Well, we do know one thing." Xavier voiced, nodding towards Mae. "It wants Mae."

Eric scrunched his face up at the teen's words, while Amy brought her head down. Both siblings baffled by the boy's bluntness.

"Xavier!" Mae shouted; although, knowing her brother couldn't see her, she heatedly glared at the boy. "Asshole." She muttered under her breath.

"But he's right." Amy's soft voice entered the mix, "Xavier, you let that thing out, and it could be roaming around the house as we speak. What if it tries to posses Mae?"

"What if it tries to do what to me?" Mae choked out, her eyes wide as saucers.

"Xavier let go of the glass before the ghost could say bye, or before we could have recited a spell for it to not leave the board. Now it's out and about, and it has an interest in Mae." Eric explained, before turning to face the wide-eyed brunette.

"Spell?" Xavier raised an eyebrow at his friend's fallen suggestion. "What the hell do you mean by that?"

"He's a witch. Or wizard? Or do you guys call yourselves warlocks? There are so many terms you could go by, really." Mae hummed from her spot on the couch, catching both Eric and Amy by surprise.

Since the entire house had still been dark, Mae was unable to see the curious gazes being sent her way by the Lawrence's. As the silence continued on, Mae rolled her eyes before snorting. "What? I know things."

"Well, how?" Eric breathed out, finally finding his voice after the bombshell.

"It wasn't that hard to put the pieces together." She shrugged, because it really wasn't that hard for her to figure out the truth. "The school you attend was on the news a few years back. After that lady Courtney Goode went on the news and announced that witches and magic were real, lots of people weren't fond of the idea. Then, some locals went on and burn down Hawthorne because it was a magic school. From there, I pieced everything together."

"That's was very insightful, Mae." Amy chuckled while shaking her head. The redhead couldn't help but find humor with the way Mae delivered her knowledge on knowing about Eric and his abilities.

"Wait, is that true?" Xavier whispered, his jaw becoming slack as he gaped at the dark figures of his loved ones. "Are you really a wizard, dude?" He asked.

"The proper term is warlock." Eric corrected, answering Xavier's question.

A high pitch squeal soon followed after, before Xavier began to shoot questions at Eric about potions and if he was able to ride a broom, like Harry Potter.

"Does this mean Amy is a witch?" Xavier questioned, his eyes finding its way to the short redhead near the couch.

"Yeah." Eric answered for his sister.

When hearing his answer, Mae pulled herself up to a sitting position, perking up at his words.

"How about Shannon?" She asked, her golden eyes finding Eric's russet colored ones. She was able to see a head nod being sent her way. When seeing the action, Mae let out a scoff before shaking her head.

"So, why me?" She asked. "Why not, Amy? Or Shannon? Heck, why not you Eric? Why is this 'thing' interested in me?" Mae stood up from her the couch, and made her way next to Amy.

"Mae-" Eric tried to console the teen, but was quickly cut off by Mae.

"That came out wrong. I mean, why does it want me, when you guys are way more advanced at this stuff than me. I mean, all I can do is make things float. You can probably do way more than that." She explained.

"Wait, you can do what?" Amy gasped, snapping her head in the older girl's direction.

"That shouldn't be possible." Eric actions resembled his younger sister's as he openly gawked at the short teen.

"And why shouldn't that be possible." Xavier asked, crossing his arms over his chest. His hazel eyes narrowed slightly as wave of protectiveness washed through him, making him take a step closer to Mae.

Before either Lawrence's could even get a word out, a crash came from the kitchen. Soon, all talk of magic and potential magic left the circle as they all drew in a deep breath and listened for any further movement from the kitchen that should have been empty.

"Me and Amy are gonna go check it out, you guys stay here." Eric spoke in a hushed tone. He sent his sister a nod, before the two of them began to quietly exit the living room, leaving the twins to fend for themselves.

"Did two magical beings seriously leave two-helpless beings in the middle of an ouija game gone wrong as darkness surrounded them in their obviously haunted house." Xavier said, all under one breath.

"You know...when you say all of that out loud, you can really hear the stupidity of my idea." Mae mumbled. She wanted to kick herself in the head as she reevaluated the events that brought her to this moment.

"Hey, everything is going to be fine." Xavier gently assured her, before lightly nudging her shoulder. Mae craned her neck, catching a glimpse of her twin's face.

Even in the darkness, she was able to see the gentle smile, and protective eyes Xavier had. Just as Mae was about to respond to her brother's kind gesture, another crash came from the kitchen, causing both Hart siblings to jump in fright.

"Amy? Eric?" Xavier called out. He turned to look at Mae, whispering as low as he could. "Maybe we should go check on them. See if everything is all right."

"Yeah." Mae agreed, nervously brushing her dark locks away from her eyes. She closely followed Xavier out the living room, making sure to stay close to her brother, when an odd smell met her nose. It wasn't odd because the smell had been an awful one, it was odd because the scent caught her off guard.

The smell of a cigarette burning itself into ash and smoke drifted through the dark house. Mae took a whiff, noting that the smell came from the steps.

As they walked walked by the stairs, Mae's eyes landed on the top step. She wasn't able to make out the face due to her angle. Though, she was able to make out a grand silk purple dress, and a wrinkly hand, that presented some expensive jewelry, as it grasped onto the wooden railing. The first thought that ran through the teen's head was that her grandmother woke up, probably from all the yelling. However, the thought soon left when the lady turned around as the twins got closer to the kitchen, and Mae was able to see past the low ceiling of the first floor.

And from what she saw, she was able to say that her grandmother was still in her bed sleeping.

Short blonde hair, curled and styled with what the youngest Hart could assume was hairspray, as there was no stray hair from her updo.

Mae climbed two steps up the stairs, her eyes stuck on the back of the mysterious intruder's figure. She silently watched as the woman's arm fall slack, her veiny fingers curled around the slim and long packaged cigarette.

By now, Xavier had already made his way into the kitchen.

His large hazel eyes landed on Eric and Amy, who were huddled near the sunroom. The moon light that entered through the glass wall shined down onto the pairs vibrant locks, making it easy for Xavier to spot them.

"What are you guys doing?" He asked. "It's not a witch/warlock thing, is it?" He included afterwards, trying to add some humor into the creepy situation they were in.

The second both eyes landed on him, showcasing a serious look in them, Xavier knew that there was no way to make light of the night. He opened his mouth to question what they had been up too, when his eyes landed on the pizza on the countertop. His eyes then traveled to the side of the box, and saw a pair of keys, and the tip he left out before they started the game.

"Uh, guys..." Xavier's voice came out strained.

"Xav, we're trying to cast protection from being possessed first. Then, we're going to try to cast the evil spirit away." Eric responded, clearly not wanting to be interrupted.

Xavier walked towards the island counter and grabbed onto the set of keys that were unfamiliar to him. With his eyes wide, he held the object for the young witch and warlock to see. "Did anyone ever see the delivery boy leave?"

Amy placed the container of salt onto the table, before rushing out the kitchen to the front of the house. Xavier and Eric following close behind. When all three teens reached the entrance room of the manor, Amy took it upon herself to look past the peephole. She caught sight of the pizza delivery car parked out in the driveway, headlights acting as a spotlight for the infamous house.

"Shit." She cursed, peeling herself away from the door. "The car is there. Which means the boy never left..."

Xavier groaned at the realization, and ran his hand through his dark locks. "If that's the case, then where is he?" He found himself asking yet another question.

"I don't know." Eric sighed, he then turned to see if Mae noticed anything out of the ordinary, when he couldn't find her. He looked to Xavier, who was in a whispering battle with Amy. "Wait, where's Mae?"

"She's right here-" He pointed to his side, which was empty. "What the fu- she was right behind me when we entered the kitchen." He answered, worry spreading through him in a sickening way. "Fuck this. We need to wake up my nana, find Mae, and then get the fuck out of here."

Eric was about to protest. He believed that they should try to clean the house of the dark entity they released, when his sister's voice entered his head.

'We'll do that later. First, we need to get the twins and Nana Hart out of here, and to safety. Then, we'll call mom.'

Eric sent Amy a nod, letting her know that he was up for the plan before making his way towards the stairs with Xavier.

"Okay, so I'm gonna go wake up Nana, and you and Amy try to find Mae." Xavier went over the game plan, but before they could agree on anything, the sound of the floorboard creaking caught everyone's attention.

Xavier had been the first one to look over his shoulder to the dark opening of the living room, he saw something emerged from the shadow, but it had been so dark, he couldn't make out who it was.

Being the one closest to the living room, Amy called out to the short figure, "Mae?" But the redhead already knew the answer.

Mae had an interesting aura and energy to her. Sweet, with a charred aftertaste. Her mother would always say it reminded her of her fellow sister witch and Mae's own mother, Caroline. Though, Mae's tended to be a little more darker than her mother's due to circumstances that Shannon didn't think her children needed to know.

So, as the figure continued to slowly make its way towards the group, it wasn't hard for Amy to know that it wasn't Mae.

"Guys. That's not Mae." She whispered.

Just as Amy made the announcement, the person rushed towards her. Before the delivery boy could even lay a finger on the young witch, he was flung back into the wall by Eric, who quickly pushed his sister up the stairs, doing the same for Xavier.

"Was that the delivery boy!" Xavier yelled over the thundering stomps he, and the Lawrence siblings, were creating as they rushed up the stairs to the second floor.

"He's possessed!" Amy screeched, as they were now running down the hall. "His eyes were black, and his face was covered in dark veins. Where the fuck is Nana Hart?!" The redhead cursed, looking over her shoulder to meet eyes with Xavier, who slowed his pace.

Xavier didn't have a chance to answer the question as Eric yelled out for them to hide right away. This caused the two to unintentionally run in different directions, making the group fully separated.

As Eric tried to catch up with Amy and Xavier, a hand quickly latched onto his shirt, dragging him back. Before he could even process what was going on, he was slammed face first into the wall. He felt a sudden pain in his nose, but he didn't have time to register that he had just broken it because he was slung back into the wall across from him.

Eric quickly pushed himself off the floor, and recited a spell that made the possessed teen frozen in place. When seeing that the boy would be secure for a while, the warlock ran into the first room he laid his eyes on, and locked the door behind him. When realizing he was in Mae's room, he released a sigh before groaning out in frustration. He kicked the first thing he laid his eyes on, which had been one of Mae's stuffed animals, before running his hand through his hair.

He was suppose to look after everyone. He was suppose to be the responsible one, and now they unleashed something and are playing hide-and-go seek in the dark: haunted house edition.

Eric looked at the digital alarm clock that sat on Mae's bedside table, before falling onto the bed, the feeling of failing flooded through his system.

There was no way he could do this by himself. He thought that maybe, he could be able to get his sister and loved ones out the house by himself before he had to involve his mom, but he can't even do that.

"What kind of warlock, am I?" He muttered under his breath in defeat.

No wonder Behold and Baldwin went for Michael.

Eric closed his eyes, muttering a spell under his breath as he sought out for his mother energy.

As Eric was astro-projecting himself to his mother for help, Mae continued to wander around the lower level of the manor, seeking out for at least one familiar face. She had just gotten back from being outside, and was met with the sound of doors slamming and objects crashing from upstairs.

Earlier, Mae had continued to watch the woman in awe. Unlike the spirits she's seen hours before, this one seemed to not be frightened of anything. She was calm. It was like she welcomed danger, and anything that came with it, making her a beautiful sight.

She wasn't sure why, but Mae had been so drawn to her, that when the spirit made her way down the stairs and out into the backyard, the dark-haired beauty couldn't help but follow her out.

But as quickly as the woman appeared, she disappeared from the teen's sight.

"Hello?" Mae whispered out into the empty house, making sure not to be too loud as she did not want to attract any unwanted attention. "Xav? Ames? Eric?...Nana?"

She was on her way to the kitchen to check the area again, when she heard someone call out her name. She froze in her spot, trying to pick out the voice, when it came again.

"Amy?" Mae whispered back, taking a step towards the voice.

"Mae."

Her name came out in a low drawl. And it was coming from the basement.

With a small push, the door creaked open. She took one step down the stairs, before debating whether she should go all the way down.

To her surprise, the light had been on. When she reached the last step, her eyes took in the basement and how it looked dreary as it did the day before. The single light flickered tremendously.

"Amy?" Mae called out into the cold basement.

She crossed her arms over her chest, instantly hating the invasive feeling of fear coursing through her. It was a rare feeling for her to be scared at something, and when it happened, it truly made her sick to her stomach.

What made her stomach churn even more, was what she felt. Mae could feel the other presences in the room. An ice cold chill ran down her spine as all of the hushed whispering surrounded her.

Her head began to pound as the flickering continued. The motion was causing her vision to blur, when it suddenly stopped. The familiar buzzing of the fluorescent light seemed to have increased in volume as it drowned out the chatter around her.

Out of the blue, Mae felt her feet leave the ground as her body was slammed onto the wall. As if her back was a magnet, the small teen stayed attached onto the wall. She tried to move, but her limbs felt as if they were being bound by rope.

Her golden eyes widen when she caught sight of the women from before, who were now accompanied by an elderly woman in a maids uniform. There was also two men standing in the corner, one dressed in active wear while the other one was wearing a crisp button down and fashionable slacks. Both men had their arms crossed over their chest, as they took in the scene with eyebrows raised. Soon, her eyes took in all of the spirits that have been bound to the manor for all eternity, and gasped.

Mae kept on tugging on the invisible force that was holding her up to the wall, while whimpering at the ghosts before her to let her go.

Before she could have gotten a response, the lights went out. As she was forced into complete darkness for the second time tonight, Mae felt her heart hammer against her chest. Her teeth began to attack her plush bottom lip. But even that couldn't stop her from letting out a frightened scream when the lights turned back on.

In front of her, was the pizza devilry boy from earlier today. From the iris, down to the sclera, there nothing but piercing blackness. Purple veins that were based from the eyes, traveled across the forehead and cheeks. Blood was oozing out from the teen's eyes and nose, his body slowly dying due to its incapability of securing such power inside it.

"Oh, my god." She whispered, her eyes stinging as tears began to collect within her ducts.

"Was that you on the Ouija? We're you the bad thing that said you wanted me?" She asked. From the looks of it, she was about to end up like the ghosts watching on, so she might as well try to get as much information out of him while she's still alive. "You're not a ghost are you?"

"I'm am, but I'm not like the others. I'm sure that weakling warlock informed you on how this house is a beacon for darkness. The evil that lurks within these walls are more twisted then some vengeful ghost. It's said that the devil himself owns his place, and souls like me, have been here for years. Worked for the man himself." The boy drawled out, making Mae raise an eyebrow.

"What does that mean? Working for him." She found herself leaning forwards for the answer. "You were a satanist?"

"I was incredibly devoted." He wickedly smiled. "I strive off of darkness, and I felt it in you. Witches who practice in dark magic are always my favorite."

"I'm not a witch, and I don't even practice magic. Let alone, dark magic." Mae scoffed, before pursing her lips, staring at the teen with a glare. A rumbling laughter fell from the boy's lips, as he brought his face close to hers, taking a deep breath and moaning. He was practically feeding off of her fear.

"You're gonna kill me, aren't you?" Mae choked out, her blurry eyes narrowing at the possessed boy in front of her in disgust.

"Ye-" He began, placing his hand on the girl's cheek, before quickly letting her go. Mae watched the boy's eyes widen as he stared at her. "That's interesting." He hummed.

Mae let out a small shriek as her body become slack, before collapsing onto the floor. She painfully landed on the basements cold flooring, her palms and exposed knees scratching against the rough concrete.

"You're not like the others up there. You're brother. You're friends. I thought it was because of the practice of dark magic, but that's not it." He chuckled, his dark eyes piercing through Mae's barrier. "Corruption. Your blood that was once pure, is soiled. Impure. You danced with evil. You're one with him."

Mae was confused by the blonde's response. "Him?" She raised her head up, meeting the gaze of the male before her, not even flinching at the pitch black eyes scrutinizing her.

Crouching down before Mae, the young blonde brushed back the girl's dark locks. His fingers circling the back of her ear, tracing over what seemed to be a hypertrophic scar. "My new master. My lord's heir. You're the one they whisper about."

"He won't be happy if I were to hurt you." He cooed in her ear, before pulling back.

"Wait, what?" Mae blinked at the soft words. The brunette scrambled off the ground, steadying herself. She held back a wince when she felt her newly made cuts meet the cold air. "Who?"

The lights began to flicker above her, and with just one second of darkness, the possessed delivery boy was no longer in her sight.

It's been only a week since she moved into this house, and so much has happened. So much has changed. First, she had to deal with the accident at the hotel and talking to dead people. Then, her powers made themselves known. Now, the teen had to deal with being one with the greatest evil of all time.

"What just happened?" Mae mumbled under her breath. She closed her eyes, her hands covering her bright golden hues as she let out a throaty groan.

Just as Mae opened her eyes, she was met with a young redhead, that looked to be a few years older than her. The girl's light brown eyes twinkled with mischief, but even Mae could see the fear behind her grotesque smirk.

"Night-night, bitch." She singed before lifting up, what Mae could make up was a shovel, when she felt a sudden pain on the side of her head, before blacking out.
