I am just enjoying the last warm rays of sunshine on the small bench on our tiny veranda, when I see blond long hair blowing in the wind behind a small dune.
"Mommy, look what Uncle Frypan gave me!" sounds the sweet voice of Hailee, my little daughter. She comes along the sandy path and proudly holds a small carved wooden figure in the shape of a dolphin in front of my nose. I smile and stroke her head. "It looks wonderful. Why don't you show it to Max, he'll probably want to see it too." I suggest and Hailee's turquoise eyes grow big. "Yes! I'll go find him. See you later, Mommy." she yells and runs off to look for her best friend. Max is the son of Thomas and Teresa, who live not far from our cozy beach hut. I sigh. We made it and are finally in the safe haven. After 5 years of fighting we have found our peace and have lost old friends and gained new one's. Many of us have a family and we meet every evening to eat together and talk about the old times. I let my eyes wander over the wide beach as two warm hands rest on my shoulders. "Hey Love." a voice with a British accent murmurs in my ear and I smile. "Newtie, back from fishing already?" I ask and he leans over me to give me a soft kiss. "Yes thankfully, now I'm back with you and I can bring Hailee to bed later." he says, smiling all over his face. He sits down next to me on the bench and I lean my head on his shoulder. "I still can't believe it. We made it..." I whisper and Newt wraps his arms around me. "Neither can I. But we deserve it. I love you and Hailee so much." he mumbles and I snuggle closer. "We love you, too. Forever."
